the florida panther. being in kansas we dont see much "big" predators. but out in elk city and independence with uncle and grandparents we had a big cat taking farm animals. neighbors knew the family hunted and wanted us to keep an eye out and sadly we did wind up getting her after she was going after neighbors wild stock

I saw a Florida panther a few years ago. I was driving at night on route 41 headed to Miami. I saw was a large black thing in the road as I got closer I realized it was a baby cat (it was too big to be a domestic cat). I drove my car around it and slammed the breaks. On the shoulder was the Mama panther pacing back and forth making a loud whinny sound. It was amazing to see one so close, but sad because she was morning the loss of her baby. My favorite Florida animal is the Gopher Tortoise, I live on an acre in North Florida and have two tortoises calling my yard home. It is the best feeling knowing these tortoises are safe with me.

A 19 year old singer, Taylor Mitchell, was killed by coyotes where I live about 15 years ago. Lots of personal bad experiences with them too, but as always, the problem is when they get too habituated to humans and stop being afraid of us.

I think it was a similar thing w the coyotes here too, jus got habituated to people feeding them or leaving food behind at camp sites n parks n stuff. Most wild animal attacks are human caused or originated, either purposefully or not. Wild animals aren’t out to get us, but you def have to respect them. They’re just adapted to survive at any cost.

I said it was rare. You didn’t make a good point, and it’s not always about food. If you get too close to a mama bear’s cub, a black bear can attack you. I live in the suburb of a large city and several yeqrs ago a coyote would come visit me just to "hang out". Often when I returned home in the evening, when I parked my car she would pop up out of the bushes and be sitting in the headlights. I got concerned for her well-being... and the well-being of neighborhood lets... because of her lack of fear of people. Much as I tried to discourage her, she would come sit nearby and sometimes even nod off. She was young and probably just leaving her family to strike out on her own.
Sometimes she was silly. One day she found a tennis ball and was tossing it around playing fetch by herself. Another time all I could see of her was four paws sticking up out of tall grass. She had made herself a nice, shady bed and was fast asleep.
After two or three months of nearly daily visits, she stopped coming around. I was hopeful that she had wandered off into the nearby hills and was living a proper coyote life.

Road Runners, Bobcats, Foxes, Coyotes, and rattlesnakes, find their way into my backyard, and when any of those things see me or hear me they run, they want nothing to do with me. If I saw a fox approaching me and he or she wasn’t afraid I would instantly think rabies. I know how this things react and behave, and when they don’t act the way I have grown up my entire life seeing them behave, it sends alarm bells in my head.

Love the video, wish the music was lowered a tad bit more in some sections as it was hard to distinguish what people were saying

Yeah, a little “musak” for the intro/outro is all that’s needed. At least equalize the volume in post.

Do a video on the Ozark howler. It would be very beneficial considering I think I've seen one.

We have a gray fox at the center I work at named Dorian. He is a bit of a grouchy old man when it comes to the other foxes he lives with, but loves attention from the keepers.

Hello Mr. Galante. I saw and fotographed what I believe is a Ivory Billed Woodpecker and though it was in Cancun it was clearly one.

Pet wise, we have a severe coyote problem in West Pinellas county. Fl.Our street has regular visitors.Like you said healthy animals don't want us.As soon as we make eye contact or they hear and smell us they leave. On our property we had a indigo snake.

We had an overpopulation of rabbits and deer in my area growing up and they released 2 mountain lions in the area to help. Idk if they died or got re captured or what, but my brother and I where playing on a snow pile after dark and 30 ft from us one of them was just walking down the street. It stopped and looked at us, while we were looking back. And probably the wrong thing to do, but we just sprinted back to the house. I'll never forget the shoulder blades of the cat walking.

The mountain lions scare the hell out of me but they are some of the most beautiful and majestic creatures and they deserve to live long lives in the wild and a few of them in places like this.
