    I always loved Melba's songs and when you add it all up what would we do without the loving heart of all the mothers in this world. What awesome lyrics sung by a beautiful lady. Thanks Yankee 1830.

    Such a delightful way to teach a child the real meaning of love.

    I met Melba at Pete Drake's studio and subsequently the piece her story from George Jones duets on in Country Music magazine, back in the 70s. Dottie West, Sammi Smith, Anita Carter and Melba were the finest voices back then, and never received the recognition they deserved. It was still a man's world.. Melba's finest song was Sorrels' Pickard's 'Country Written Up And Down Her Face'. The finest talent doesn't always get what it deserves. And none of that wonderful four ever did.

    I just met Melba today while taping a episode of the Marty Stuart show in Nashville, what a lovely and gracious lady. Country music should embrace these kind of artist and treasure them like grandmas old bible.

      I had the wonderful opportunity of talking to her on the phone a few years back. She is a wonderfully sweet lady. I agree, Country Music should reach out and treasure these wonderful artists while they still have them.

    Its been a long time since I heard this song and it is more wonderful today than ever. I wonder as i listened to it -- would most kids in our country today even stop long enough to listen to the answer -- say nothing of appreciate it?

    As I watched this,(and this is the 1st time I've ever seen Melba Montgomery),I see that I'm not the only one crying !!! The 1st time that I played this on my College Radio Show, I got a phone call from a man who asked me if I could play it again for his wife
    when she got home in a couple of hours. Of course I did. He called back and thanked me and said they both could'nt stop crying either. THANK YOU MELBA

    Great song. As another commenter mentions, the version with the little boy and the mom in the kitchen is better.
    Is that Charley Pride in the audience at 0:45? Also, who is the man in the audience that appears right after Charley Pride? He's in another video by Joey & Rory Feek called The Bible & The Belt" in which they're playing in a similar kind of venue (see 1:12 in that video). And finally, is that Roseanne Cash at about 2:27?
    Just wondering.

    Wait, so there is no charge for doing what a parent is I dunno, supposed to do? What, you want praise for gestating your kid that you chose to have, for taking care of the little human being in a way that needs to be done?
    No wonder this was recommend on a forum about narcissists.
    This is hilarious and sad, especially because of the people praising it. Like the music fine, but the lyrics? Narcissists anthem. Thank you, will definitely share this to show the mentality.

      She's just saying her child doesn't owe her because she loves them.

    • @vixxcelacea2778
      @vixxcelacea2778 8 років тому

      aGwEENapple I thought she was saying I don't ask you to owe me anything because I love you instead. A sort of guilt trip. I know the song is meant to be sweet, but I sadly know a rather large group of people who justify the lyrics as guilt trips for children.

    • @aGwEENapple
      @aGwEENapple 8 років тому

      Vixx Celacea All it would be teaching a child is money shouldn't be your goal for everything. That's a good thing.

    • @aGwEENapple

      Vixx Celacea lol I would've never thought she was "guilting" a child. A "child" comes to me holding some paper like that I'm smacking it to the ground. Lol
