@@johnhaerle3957 There's a better way. I'm using a USB 12v step up cable to run mine off an Anker 20Ah power bank. I pre-ordered one in late November, and it came sometime in early January. Set it up, and was instantly impressed when night came around. The low light function worked flawlessly, and for $20, I consider it a steal. I have an Arlo Pro 2 5-Camera system that I purchased for around $750 when it came out in 2017 or 2018, and instantly, there was a noticeable difference. There is only one drawback that I have encountered so far, and that is the fact that it has direct wiring. For around $110 less for each camera, you have better night vision, better quality, and it doesn't need a base station. If you have a power source readily available, then this is the one for you.
Do not buy this camera. I've had it for 3 months and it's a waste of money. The app sucks and you need a subscription to record longer events without a 5-min delay and to be able to increase playback speed of recorded events and to get pet/human/package detection. There is NO option for increasing the playback speed of the continuously recorded footage on the app which makes it super annoying to look through footage. Also when the camera turns off due to connection failure, it does not turn back on. so basically I can only use camera efficienctly if I'm watching it live or if I want to watch recorded events. Also I cancelled the subscription from the app but then still got charged, and customer service said that subscriptions need to be managed on the website. Why is there even an option to change your subscription in the app then, if it's not going to work? So stupid.
I LOVE wyze and their products..truly an amazing consumer value driven group of individuals.. To answer your question.. I would pay more for a wyze cam v3,4k camera.. but I dont want it to be the only product. I think $20 dollar high quality 1080p feature packed cameras are definitely useful and that most people have needs/uses for these cameras.. BUT I also would like to be able to purchase high fidelity /resolution cameras with the same exact build quality / features, just with a higher resolution .. it just depends on how much they would have to charge for the upgrade.. if it was say.. $40 bucks for 4k.. I would definitely purchase a couple to add to my others.. However if it was idk.. around $70-$100 for a 4k camera.. then I might be less happy to throw them my debit card.. I would assume that is why they do not already have a higher resolution solution product on the market.. Because of their desire to provide this much value and keep prices so low.. maybe they are unable to design, manufacture, and sell a 4k product at a low enough price to align with their consumer/value driven business morals.. or maybe it would cause them an overall loss in profit and would not be worth it.. let alone be sustainable for them to continue to produce.. So I guess it just depends on how cheap they could sell it for.
My v2 didn't last a full year.. Wish we could get a cam like this with simple RTSP. Most of my WiFi ONVIF cameras cost close to 5x what the Wyze cam costs.
What about with the V2 Firmware add-on? The one from Wyze’s back end site has worked for using RTSP for me! Wonder if they’ll be backwards compatible or release another SD card FW add-on.
@@ethanalloway5946 The FAQ for the V3 indicates they Might make an RTSP update for the v3.. My v2 which I was using already died. I don't plan on purchasing any more v2s.
No I would not pay more. If I want a really good surveillance camera I would go commercial. If I want a realistic budget camera that is practical and dependable I would buy this for what they are asking.
Support for 5GHz would be a great improvement. 2.4GHz wifi is just too crowded. My V2's fall offline regularly. They also do not like being isolated from the cloud. I wonder how the V3 will fare in these fields?
Has any one had success in replacing the batteries in the Wyze sensors? I went with Sonoff sensors due to the many reports of Wyze sensors (and cameras) being bricked upon a battery replacement. However, I would be happy to add on with the cheaper Wyze sensors if this is not an issue any longer.
Might be possible when/if we see a FW upgrade/add-on similar to the V2’s RTSP FW upgrade. For an immediate solution try the V2 with a RTSP FW upgrade from Wyze’s site loaded via the micro SD card. One can only hope they do the same for the V3.
If it's like my V2, only the initial set-up (and firmware upgrades) needs internet. After that, just give it a micro SD card and power and it will record to the card. Makes a great dash-cam.
Has the connection range (antenna) improved over the V2? I really hope a "pan cam" version is just around the corner. The night vision and overall image quality improvements seem worth replacing one or two of my V2's.
Great video as always! The v3 looks like what the outdoor cam should have been. I would pay a little more if it had a higher resolution, especially if your using for home security.
I was impressed by the camera, however after time the infrared has darkened. It the beginning with the lights out you could see everything in the room. It’s gotten darker
I’m happy with 1080p, but if they did a 4K cam that has the same abilities as before but enhanced the features and priced at $50 that wouldn’t be to bad. I’d buy it.

It would be very disappointing if they discontinued Wyze Sense, or you have to buy the V2. But I’m hoping that the bridge is inside the V3 camera itself.
Man, I can only hope this means they're also working on getting an upgraded Wyze Cam Pan out sometime in the near future. I have one that monitors my back yard and having the new tech on it would help immensely, especially if they also make it outdoor friendly.

So stupid.
Loved the titanic reference and Luna getting dinner ready. 🤣
Any word on RTSP streams?
Yup. It’s a no!
That sucks, so no integration to Home Assistant or Blue Iris....
Any way to use this without an internet connection? I need something for a mobile solution
Might be possible when/if we see a FW upgrade/add-on similar to the V2’s RTSP FW upgrade. For an immediate solution try the V2 with a RTSP FW upgrade from Wyze’s site loaded via the micro SD card. One can only hope they do the same for the V3.
@@ethanalloway5946 My V2 continues to work on my local WiFi even when the internet goes down, no RTSP needed.
If it's like my V2, only the initial set-up (and firmware upgrades) needs internet. After that, just give it a micro SD card and power and it will record to the card. Makes a great dash-cam.
Too bad I wasted money on the outdoor camera that I have not installed yet.
Has the connection range (antenna) improved over the V2? I really hope a "pan cam" version is just around the corner. The night vision and overall image quality improvements seem worth replacing one or two of my V2's.
Help, please, please! Is there any camera that can be used that does not require you having a smartphone??? Have WIFI and computers
Great video did not even know they had the new version...gonna get one of these for sure, i have 2 version 2's now
Hey, Reed, can I stream from this camera? Like either RTMP, RTSP, or HLS?
Great video as always! The v3 looks like what the outdoor cam should have been.
I would pay a little more if it had a higher resolution, especially if your using for home security.
I appreciate it! I completely agree as well.
I’m not gonna pay 50$ for the outdoor i will just by the 20$ for the V3
@@SmartHomeSolver Near, Far, Wherever u are lol
I was impressed by the camera, however after time the infrared has darkened. It the beginning with the lights out you could see everything in the room. It’s gotten darker
3:13 gave me a good chuckle 🤣👍
Yeah, that song is stuck in my head now!🎵🎶
i didn't read all the comments, but does anyone know if the Wyze Cam V3 is available in Canada somehow?
Not available outside US, sad comment from UAE as I need to install those in newly built house in india
Great review! Caught me by surprise. I’d rather have good 1080 than mediocre 4K.
I’m happy with 1080p, but if they did a 4K cam that has the same abilities as before but enhanced the features and priced at $50 that wouldn’t be to bad. I’d buy it.
I have 4 v2 cams running the alternate RTSP firmware to record to a blue iris NVR server.
I wont be buying the v3 unless they support RTSP as well
According to their website RTSP appears to be in the works for the v3 model. I'd suggest giving it YES to the "Was this article helpful" in the following forum post so they know there is demand for it! support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051619871-Does-the-v3-support-RTSP-
It would be very disappointing if they discontinued Wyze Sense, or you have to buy the V2. But I’m hoping that the bridge is inside the V3 camera itself.
Good review! Sad to hear the camera’s mic is still garbage. This is the biggest downside of the v2 right now for me
Man, I can only hope this means they're also working on getting an upgraded Wyze Cam Pan out sometime in the near future. I have one that monitors my back yard and having the new tech on it would help immensely, especially if they also make it outdoor friendly.
Don’t know when this happened exactly, but they raised the price to $30 now.
So I'm seeing a lot of videos for thos, but no one seems to know when it will be available? 🤷♂️🤦♂️ Nice video btw. Subscribed, liked and commented 👍
Available right now !! Ordered 2 of them !! Hurry !!
@@savagekock I found Amazon has them now, for $30
@@joeywilbur9182 wyze has them for $25 through the app . they wont be available long..they wher out of stock , waited 4 months to order . ordered 2 of them today
@@savagekock Through the Wyze app? Or their website?
@@joeywilbur9182 I ORDERED THROUGH THE APP. ITS FREE , YOUL NEED IT ANYWAYS . I GOT THE PANSCAN A FEW MONTHS AGO.. EXCELLENT PRODUCTS !!
I do like the night vision but I have to turn off the IR light when using it outside. Its a major bug magnet, which are triggering the motion detection.
Looks like I’m sending the v2s I just bought back. Great review
Why do you want higher resolution are you trying to use it to make movies? The higher the resolution the faster the internet you need. In remote areas like my cabin I can't get fast internet.
Image quality looks awesome to me for the price point. I will however definitely pay more for Homekit integration! Thanks for the great overview! 👍🏼
I appreciate it Deon!
I am a year late but use rtsp and homebridge
how are you getting this camera? it says I need to pre-order and water until December
Great review, I preordered mine already and yes I would have paid a little more for better resolution as the crack heads are getting bad in my city for smash and grabs.
keeping the $20.00 price . Its $35.98 on amazon
Shutup and take my money now. I'm not shooting YT videos with it so better resolution past 1080p is not needed, IMO. Where do I stick my Wyze Sense bridge into? I guess I'll still need my v2 cam for that. Thanks for the update.
A standalone Wyze Sense Hub will be launched in the near future.
They mentioned something about adding modules on top of the camera on the launch video. That might have something to do with it
Wyze needs ability to view Camera on desktop application, not just small phone.
Love the improved night vision from a distance! My v2 had good night vision for watching a room, but any distance further than a few feet was impossible to see. Amazing they crammed all of this into a $20 camera
Does the new cam support RSTP to use with Blue Iris?
Kinda pissed I bought Wyze cam outdoor.
Crazy how under 1.5 years these cameras are closing in on $40.
For $20 bucks, I can’t complain....
Can't believe the quality for $20. Puts into question why other solutions are so expensive in comparison. Shame Wyze are not in the UK.
Question: how long does the 32 gb SD card last?
do they have the pan cam with this new technology.
These cams are sold out and you gotta wait 3 months to get one
Does it have RTSP firmware for BI support?
I think Wyze is working on a firmware update for RTSP.
According to their website RTSP appears to be in the works for the v3 model. I'd suggest giving it YES to the "Was this article helpful" in the following forum post so they know there is demand for it! support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051619871-Does-the-v3-support-RTSP-
How many cameras does the app support?
Great camera and i bought 2 for my outside camera . picture is super at night
Is it just SDHC with 32GB? Does it have a Webinterface?
I hope it will take 64GB like my V2 does.
Work with Smartthings? No? Too bad...
Higher resolution would be nice but would it be needed? If it does so good at 1080P do you need a 2160 option?. A wyze pan cam v2 would be nice I’d say
Can they still be daisy chained?
Are there any security concerns with the wyze cameras? 20$ seems too good to be true...
Can it stream RTSP?

why would you want a 4k camera so you can monitor it off an iphone lmao
@SmartHomeSolver
The big question: Can it be used as webcam if connected to the PC?
This is relatively new tech, and you want to multipurpose it... I prefer they get its intended use nailed down 1st, before venturing on... they have a FEW probs to work on...
