I actually just finally picked up a Mini 3 pro. Got it $400 off! Like you said these are not phones, or anything you upgrade at every cycle. I will keep this one until maybe the 5 comes along. I find skipping a generation usually helps with the costs. :) And I am not making money on my shots, its just a hobby and documenting my Motorcycle trips.

Can carry 4kg of high explosive or drugs. 3 hour endurance on the light weight battery. 75km wireless range. Stealth radar absorbing features. Themini 3 is a great drone… but the mini 2 will say to the mini 3 and the mini 4 .. hold my beer…I do a lot without any fancy technology.

Just bought a 2nd hand mini 3 pro with all the combo kit and filters, upgraded from the mini 1, amazed at the stuff I can do with it, and love the shot of the sycamore tree, that's one to keep, and just a quickie question, didn't think you were supposed to fly drones NR bamborough castle and on holy island, correct me if I'm wrong
Hi Mark, Dronescene is the best resource for take off spots. In short, the National Trust say no drones on website. But so long as you take off from a public space such as a beach and maintain vlos it’s legal. I’d always advise not flying too close to the castles though so as not to antagonise
Nick Lewis, House Steward of Lindisfarne Castle in Northumberland is seeing too many drones. Has written in some detail about why the National Trust does not want them flying over their properties.
The use of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), or drones as they are more commonly known, is not permitted on or over National Trust land as part of our bylaws without the necessarily required qualifications and a licence granted by us.
We are experiencing increasing issues with drones on our sites on the Northumberland Coast and we expect this to continue as the technology becomes more available. This outlines in more detail why we do not allow drones to be flown at National Trust sites.

So well said. Totally agree AND... the forthcoming CAA regulations review that's on the cards (and people are contributing to), will inevitably impact our hobby/businesses.
Yeah I’m conflicted about the regulations. On the one hand get the Mini 4 pro as a last hurrah before our freedoms are taken. On the other hand, it probably doesn’t make business sense!

The mini 3 is still good. It’s my go to when I travel to avoid any drone laws. Remember, it’s the skills and basics of cinematography that makes the shot no matter what drone you’re using.
I’ve just bought my mini 3 pro,it’s my first drone and I don’t regret it at all,I’ve found the mini 3 pro to be amazing and I’m learning more and more and getting braver everytime a fly it,I see it like when you buy a car then a month later you could of had a better one for the same money,at the time of wanting something there wasn’t the option for anything else,so we have to live for today and enjoy what we have,and if the newer item is better there’s alway the option to upgraded later down the line,it’s going to take me a while to use the mini 3 pro to it’s full potential and by the time I feel like the upgrade I won’t be starting as a novice
I had a mavic pro and used it until it wasn’t supported anymore and the batteries died off. So then I bought a mini3 pro because I can fly it everywhere. Now I have an air3 and the mini3 pro. I don’t think I’ll buy another drone for a very long time. I just love the mini3 pro. It’s just such a great little quad I bring it everywhere.

It’s a pretty good deal yeah for new. I prefer the rc-n1 but both controllers have their pros and cons

Would you recommend the mini 3 pro over the Air 2s? From watching various reviews the Air 2S seems to have better image quality but its a bit older with about same price.

I have not found much discussion about the fact that the mini 3 cannot use litchi and therefore does not have waypoints. I really like waypoints and the mini 2 uses Litchi and therefore has waypoints. Even though I have the Mini 3 with the smart controller, I still have the Mini 2 with the RC1 controller, because not much has been said also about the fact that the RC1 controller allows the use of Litchi and other apps that must have a phone to run the app. I am impressed that the Mini 3 drone has follow-me and obstacle avoidance. The two together make follow-me interesting. I don't think it is all that useful, but ... interesting. Litchi -- with its waypoint capability -- is very useful for things like taking automated photos and videos for real estate and other projects that require a repetitive operation..
Waypoints are leaked for the mini 4 pro, they’re saving them for that

Wind is the mini 3 pros worst enemy. That’s the only debacle to deal with if you live in windy environment.
It’s good for it’s size but yes you can see jello on some windy shots

damn Ian your sunset shots are too damn professional. i've always tried to shoot in sunsets as i'm not a morning person but always left sharpness at 0 on the drone so will try -0.1 next flight. i'll definitely get the 4 with the stacked sensor as it's a big improvement on low light and higher iso shots. one thing though mate, have you heard about the CAA wanting to change the whole c1, c2 c3 and maybe even get rid of the sub 250g allowances? even remote ID might be coming. scary stuff

I Honestly cant see any issue with what is in place now. Its fine for Europe but not uk it seems. Or maybe Europe could change in a few years too. Cant rule anything out!
Its so sad mate. I can see why the stats show a huge drop in commercial drone flyers across the country with the absolute uncertainty we have now. I think the caa dont like the fact tech has allowed light weight drones to escape their grasp so changing it up. Privacy laws have existed well before drones so makes no sense that they mention that as a concern when it can be delt with already. I think the writing is on the wall for sure. And remote id is said to be used to check if people go too high or far out and can be used to prosecute . but lets see how bad it is when they release their official new regs i guess.
I agree, I’ve had my Phantom pro V2.0 for 5 years and it is my go to for professional video, but I find myself taking the Mini Pro 3 with me all the time for quick shots at the spur of the moments. Love it.

No, but just be sensible that you don’t distract cars. The trees blocked the view of the motorists
