I think that Pogi is not defeatable in cold weather. To beat him you need a great team and a hot weather...like in TdF 2022, 2023. A lot of dogs are rabbits death.
Amazing in 2024 that the whole world tour peleton still haven't worked out unless your name is Jonas Vingegaard do not attack or try to follow Tadej on 10% climbs 🤔
Until the whole peloton puts their heads together and collectively work together (and this may require some unholy alliances across team lines to be made) to shut down these long range attacks its going to be a long 2025 for everyone not in a UAE jersey. Tadej attacks with impunity at present because every time he's done so hes taken the top step of the podium. If all the 80kg guys who can take 600w pulls work together these Pogacar attacks can be closed but currently due to lack of cooperation everyone just concedes they are racing for 2nd even when there is 2 hours of racing left.
Remco didn't even finish. UAE have today won on Sunday with Cro Race and Agonstini. Last year we had Jumbo and this year we have UAE going mad. I don't know what's going on. Usually these things end in tears so hope we get back to normal competition soon where one Team isn't doing crazy stuff.
Chris, it would be cool to see someone (hint hint) break down pogi's attia interview where he talks about his training (e.g. 6 hour zone 2 rides at 350W).
@@MrJaycobsen Plus he is using metric connected between heartrate, power and velocity, witch is corelated all the time in his head. Its quite bonkers when you know your routes and body to the tee. Esentially he can tempo those bonkers 100 , 80 km solo runs easily and more safetly hold pace closes to the limit. Ofc he was bonkers W/kg numbers, but how far can you pull all time is huge metric.
Tadej Pogacar's legs don't wear out. He keeps saying in post-race interviews that his legs were hurting during the final km's, but that is nonsense. We all know that Pogacar's legs don't wear out, so of course the race is going to be for second. Pogacar reminds me of Genevieve Jeanson. Her career was marked by a "coach" who administered a doping diet so extreme that she won races by 20 minutes while riding solo. I'd love to know what is going on at UAE. It would be interesting if all the information eventually came out.
I listened to an interview with Genevieve recently. Her story is brutal. She was groomed and abused by a creep coach who brought her to the USA and basically kidnapped her. I knew she was doping at the time, but after hearing her story, I respect her as a human being, and a survivor.
@matttilley8620 If they were cheating, why isn't any other teammate of Tadej as good as he is? Jay Vine ( one of his UAE teammates )said on a recent podcast that Pogi is super natural/ human as far as recovery and producing power. This year, Pogi changed his personal coaching ( Javier Sola ), took nutrition serious for the first time, and worked his ass off ( attitude training for three plus weeks ) for the Giro & TDF. I could say a lot more, but that's enough.
If Pog keeps riding like this will teams have to put most of their eggs in an early break basket and pray for the best? Clearly tempoing a climb is the stupidest thing for them to do.
Tadej is just too fearsome, that once he goes, everybody is thinking of being second. Curse of the rainbow indeed..but firmly on the peloton. Bravo Tadej. We need Jonas to properly challenge him.
@@ellenbrook2001 he is paid to win. And I say bravo for winning! Also, if you were Pidcock what would it mean if Pog let you win the race? Come on, this is real sports. Not a school race!
Merckx may still be the nominal GOAT in terms of his overall palmares. But how many victories did he win in such a dominant fashion, attacking from long range, and that too against the very best competition?
Tbf he did on a number of occasions, especially earlier on in his career. On the Tre Cime Lavaredo at the 1968 Giro. In the Tour in the 1969 with a 100 km solo attack to Mourenz in the Pyrenees. The 1969 RVV, a 73 km attack & he won by 5,36. The 1970 Pars-Roubaix, in bad weather he attacked with 25 km to go and won by 5 minutes. Many other examples, but I think Eddy has conceded that Pog is better than he was.
Eddy got the same reaction as tp now, boring racing, which he then didn't understand. Because his heroes who raced in 50ies and early sixties got glorified because of these long solo wins. However, they got glorified on radio commentary. People switching on the tv with him already on his own got bored watching him solo 2,5 hours on the screen. Radio commentary made a habit of make up stories to keep listeners on the edge of their seats. Tv images don't lie. Change of times.
lol I watched the video now and damn Chris.. give Matteo 1 more chance to ride on someone else’s wheel! “How many times he needs to get smacked in the face” just 1 more. Please only 1 more. Matteo is a great rider but he needs to pick his moves better. Tough when Tadej is in the race
Maybe you should consider more that most teams will not get a good result when the peleton catches. Like Pidcock and Woods would probably not place as high as they did. Lidl-Trek had no chance to win with Ciccone, but maybe they had a chance to top5 when favorites like Remco and Roglic grind up their team and drop out early.
Tadej gassed the Peloton. I just don't see Jonas unless he gets some incredible help beating Tadej in the near future. Remco dropped out knowing it was futile Primos wasn't to be seen? Two minutes going away. His new nutritionist has turned him into, in the infamous words spoken at the 1973 Belmont about Secretariat " He's riding like a Tremendous Machine" 👍🏼🫅🏻🚵🏻💯🇸🇮
I think we also don’t know if that terrible accident earlier this year had any long term consequences. Of course he did amazing at Le Tour, but to beat Tadej you have to be 100% Jonas.
Ya can't discount that Tadej lost to a Team. They wore Tadej down with repeated attacks from Primos, Wout etc. Not to mention the fact Tadej was gassed out & bonked from lack of proper fuel intake. I like Jonas he's an incredible talent. I believe Tadej is a Phenom that hasn't been around since Eddy Merckx 👍🏼💯
I don’t think the astana move was bad, not having a favorite they tried to anticipate hoping they would get 10-20 seconds on the group so, when pogacar attacked, maybe their rider was able to go over the top of the climb with him and, similar to what sivakov did in zurich, maybe pogacar would keep the breakaway companion with him for a lap or two, giving them a solid chance of finishing on the podium
Sir be on form doesn't mean you have to be on top on every stage especially the last Vuelta. On form is a general condition not a stage by stage evaluation.
Along the San Luca climb? That’s passage covered walk way that goes all the up to the summit. It leads to church or spiritual building at the top, Madonna sanctuary . 🤔🦋👊
Well why Chris always says "get organized and hold time on Tadej". They chased with whole Belgian team hard..went thru riders and then Remco was there too. They "held" time - it was 40 sec for 100km no much more or less. What else there to do?? They can all get organized they want..but as long as the course fits Tadej, meaning it has sections where he can put 30 sec on anyone, the race is over
It wasn’t just about Team Belgium though if you watched Chris’ analysis on the worlds. Remco burnt all his guys early on and also a lot of the riders from other countries like Netherlands who could’ve put some solid work in on the flatter sections.
What Luke just said, is correct. Milhouse misunderstood T🦋E video on the men’s 2024 WC race. Remco didn’t just put his team on the front. He put his team on the front and blew his team up to early. Two laps at least is what Remco needed from his teammates and from the Netherlands team is what I said. The very short version anyways. 🤪🦋💥🇧🇪💣👊
@ChrisHornerCycling no no i watched the analysis, Chris! I see your point but I had a suggestion that had Belgium rode tempo for even one more lap, some let's say 1-2 of them would still fall back and Tadej and Pavel would be 1:30-1:45 head instead of 30 sec (which is where that "Belgian team blowing" got them REMCO after blowing his team had to close the last 20-30 sec himself, if he is a rider #2. But he was not. Nobody was #2 there
@lukebastiras4666 i know Luke you saying what Chris said, and of course it is more correct because I don't argue with the pro. It just seems Remco knew everyone looks at him..and if he didn't put his team on the front then Tadej would ride away with close to 2 min ahead (like he did today btw) and then Remco would never catch him. He tried then and it was the correct move. Question is if his team blows apart after 10 hard km of riding and they can't close 30 sec on a lone rider, they should go back to training. Which Remco kinda did today
I disagree in the regard of bad tatctics generally. There were poor tactics yesterday, but there are 3 riders in the race, that can win it - Pogi, Remco, Rogla - so the other teams have to have different goals, like to podium. So chasing Pogi is stupid for them, since their plans don't include him from the begining. I understand the funny thing about the knucklehead saying, but i think it is a little exagerated.
"Keep your teammates on the front" to beat Tadej? CHRIS, can you offer a plan? Thats not a plan. The "teammates" on Bora, or Visma can not keep pace, so Lipovitsz or Jorgenson have to try on their own. And when Tadej hits them so early 30-100km- it is over. It like trying to beat Usain Bolt.
You were on track Milhouse until you put up 100k to go. There you just plain lost it all. You should have stopped at 30k and the occasional 50k attack if the course is perfect. Just go back and watch stage 9 of the TdF. If you want to save time watch T🦋E on it to see how 100k out worked for Pogi. 🤪🦋👊💣
@ChrisHornerCycling i meant between those. 30 to a 100 A 100km worked this one time because it was ridiculous but also because there were 4 laps with climbs that no one can gain time on him. My main point it that Bora or Visma do not have riders who even together can catch him and he feels is and uses it. I know your point is "to create organized chases" which means that soon the top riders, the team leaders themselves will need to start doing- create a super team by agreement. I don't know what else to offer.
Jorgenson needs to let pogacar go and then try to create a small chase group. Then you have a chance, especially if there are teammates in that group. Jorgenson is trying to race like Jonas. He should be learning from van aert.
His training has changed this past year to make him more fat adapted. Even no calories may make little difference, as long a he can get water! He has been training after fasting with no calories during the ride (or at least for a long enough period into the ride to deplete glycogen). That allows you to rapidly change from using glucose to using ketones with little to no effect from bonking.
@@ChrisHornerCycling and we all saw during the TDF that every time there is a downhill, he pours a bottle of water into his head. Cools down the body faster because as he speeds up down hill. Smarter now.
Chris, do you think this is good racing from the entertainment side? I find it frustrating watching Pog ride solo for an hour while the second group attacks itself.
@@Aya33-xX no, the point I was trying to make is that I don’t want to know who the winner is an hour or two before the race ends. I want close racing. I want to be kept in suspense for as long as possible. I really don’t care who wins as long as it’s exciting.
He can still focus on doing the actual triple (the real triple, not this made up thing that they currently call the triple ;) and that would surpass this season. 🤔🦋💪👊
Roglic caught food poisoning (or another stomach bug) at the end of the vuelta, it went alllll around Bora the Bora team and after the Vuelta he said he'd been running to the toilet too 😬 must have been a miserable day to be racing his bike! Probably took a bit out of him (I know some people get past food poisoning pretty quickly, like a few days, while others will feel weak for a bit longer and have an unsettled stomach for a few weeks, and for a pro cyclist not being able to fuel would be a real detriment)
I don't blame the riders as much as you do; I blame the DS's in the cars for not working out a deal for their teams to work together to keep up with Pogi.
I blame the DS’ all the time. Even today I said it was trek DS. But in the end it’s the rider that’s on the front with the camera looking at him pulling. And video doesn’t lie…… much. 🤪😂🦋👊🎥

He gives good racing interviews about the races. And during Paris he was money against Remco tactically on the final stage. I guess he needs more time racing against Pogi before he believes Pogi is way faster. 🤔🦋🤪

@@ChrisHornerCycling If we look at the women's side, the last few years everyone just let SD Worx do nothing, then beat them on talent at the end.
The tail end of last year, and then into this year, other teams started to smarten up and make SD Worx work... and it's worked very, very well. Trek, Caynyon Sram, and others have pulled of fsome major victories this year.

Amazing in 2024 that the whole world tour peleton still haven't worked out unless your name is Jonas Vingegaard do not attack or try to follow Tadej on 10% climbs 🤔
Right. Jonas is the only rider that knows how to race Pogi. Thank the cycling gods for Jonas. 🤔😬😱🦋🌈👊👊
Only Jonas 🦋👊
Until the whole peloton puts their heads together and collectively work together (and this may require some unholy alliances across team lines to be made) to shut down these long range attacks its going to be a long 2025 for everyone not in a UAE jersey. Tadej attacks with impunity at present because every time he's done so hes taken the top step of the podium. If all the 80kg guys who can take 600w pulls work together these Pogacar attacks can be closed but currently due to lack of cooperation everyone just concedes they are racing for 2nd even when there is 2 hours of racing left.
Pogi destroyed Jonas in the tour. LOL

Agreed. I got to get to that one. 👊🦋
That's not what he said though. 320-340 when he's on the climbs if it's a hilly route and he would drop to 290 if he's doing a steady endurance ride.
Sport Science is a wonderful thing.
Your are naive@@QPSQUANTUM424
Genevieve who?
What was the deal with Remco?
Same as Primoz.

Good question 🤔🦋👍
I love that retro Colorado cyclist bell razor almost as much I love all the knuckleheads that make racing interesting.
If Pog keeps riding like this will teams have to put most of their eggs in an early break basket and pray for the best? Clearly tempoing a climb is the stupidest thing for them to do.
"The easy button", "the knucklehead button", priceless.

Merckx may still be the nominal GOAT in terms of his overall palmares. But how many victories did he win in such a dominant fashion, attacking from long range, and that too against the very best competition?
Eddy has already told Tadej that the kid has beaten him... Now Tadej is his idol...
@@nigelstead8424 No, he didn't, he clarified later what he really meant.
Ok. I haven’t seen that. Only the original comments he made last Sunday night. I’ll go look for them.
Haven’t watched video yet but already know Chris is gonna light up Lidl Trek for doing any work ever lol.
The coaching is working. 👊🦋💪🔥💥
lol I watched the video now and damn Chris.. give Matteo 1 more chance to ride on someone else’s wheel!
How many times can he win Lombardi?
10
hey Chris, what is the red brick structure that we see on the riders left, then their right? And, how is it on their left, then their right? :-)
They can all get organized they want..but as long as the course fits Tadej, meaning it has sections where he can put 30 sec on anyone, the race is over
Great points!
I see your point but I had a suggestion that had Belgium rode tempo for even one more lap, some let's say 1-2 of them would still fall back and Tadej and Pavel would be 1:30-1:45 head instead of 30 sec (which is where that "Belgian team blowing" got them
REMCO after blowing his team had to close the last 20-30 sec himself, if he is a rider #2.
Pogo cant be stopped , you can only hope to contain him ,
Yeah, all those knuckleheads who aren't 66kg with an FTP of 480w.
Got to love a 480 watt FTP 😱🦋💪
Yay🎉🎉 Chris got a cool Turkish dawg 🎉

I disagree in the regard of bad tatctics generally. There were poor tactics yesterday, but there are 3 riders in the race, that can win it - Pogi, Remco, Rogla - so the other teams have to have different goals, like to podium. So chasing Pogi is stupid for them, since their plans don't include him from the begining.
I understand the funny thing about the knucklehead saying, but i think it is a little exagerated.
The best line ever was his tongue hanging out like 125 pound Anotolian Shepard. I almost clogged a Pepsi in my nose.
How do you beat Pogi? It seems like there is just a race for second.
What happened to remco?
Same as with Primoz.
He blew up and didn't finish. Same with Primoz.
It’s not about the back having bad tactics. Tadej is just flat out faster then.
Pogi is a real space man, with his out of this world racing
I dont remember that lotto jersey. I like it.
👍🦋👊
Chris, what are you talking about curse?
The curse is for the peleton, not Pogi!
😂🦋
@ChrisHornerCycling i meant between those. 30 to a 100
A 100km worked this one time because it was ridiculous but also because there were 4 laps with climbs that no one can gain time on him.
What a ride from the Polti rider in 3rd
How to beat Tadej? Only if Tadej makes a mistake in his nutrition during the race.
Steal his bottles and foods 🤣
Yep. That always helps. Or a race that’s a bit less climbing. Like MSR. 👊🦋

It's like a team needs to never ride the front, wait until Tadej is up the road for a while then team trial their way up to the Slovenian. Easier said than done. 🛋️🦋
