- This Marantz CD player from eBay was only 200 Euros.....Looks too good to be true, right? I placed an offer and the seller accepted. I hope nothing is wrong with it.
I have Marantz cd6007 over a year now. It is best in class with great reviews all over net. It sounds great and works like a charm. Highly recommended device.

I have a vintage Marantz CD10 - which, if set up carefully, can sound truly amazing. I find it hard to believe it can sound so musical in spite of its age. It's built like a tank and weighs a ton!

What does musical actually mean ?
I have. the 8006 cd player and streamer and love it.
I have two cd players, a Denon DCD600NE, have lots of problems with it, but I kept it because it sounds like vinyl, it has a very warm, appealing sound (I think Marantz and Denon are now the same company). The other one is a Pioneer PD-10AE, it works perfectly, has a colder but more precise sound, both units have their own character, neither replaces the other, that's why I kept both. I'm glad you've purchased the beautiful Marantz player, I hope you'll have lots of fun with it.
I have many problems as well with denon dcd500ae...tray is open and close by itself, CDs are skipping, it's awful experience...it's not bad when it works, but i wouldn't described it as vinyl like...anyway, i write off denon for any future purchases, it's now unreliable brand in my book...to make things worse, it was mildly used...

Gee I hope things have no gone backwards. My 1987 DENON DCD-900, finally kicked the bucket, so I replaced it with a DENON DCD-900NE. I hope this model had a long life as well.
I own Teac cd-p4500 from 1993 and works fine with sweet sound and heavy bass responce.Looking for a new cd player for a second system (other room).Many new cd -players have problems with drives.Also many are cold/shrill/clinic sounding.Iam between 6007 and denon dcd-900.Marantz 6007 has better reputation with reliability.But what hifi said that 6007 in comparison with 6006 is more shrill/aggressive at uppermids and highs.And that is a BIG problem for me because i can't tolerate harsh mids and highs.Of course you can't be sure about synergy between equipment.My sustem Yamaha A-S 501 and Q Acoustics 3030i.How do you feel about the uppermids and highs of 6007?Bass is deep enough or just fast?
I have the Marantz CD 6007 and teamed up with the PM 6007 Integrated Amp. Purchased just before Covid and shortly after that both units prices jumped by $300.00 each.(Crutchfield) I use the optical connection for the DAC .Overall I think this is an outstanding combo. I like that fact you can adjust the DAC filter. BTW I also have a Marantz Receiver 2250B (1976) restored which is just a work of art. So I have really been drinking the Marantz Kool- Aid for a long time. I am sure you will be happy with your choices. It's been a month since you made this video let me know how it's working out. for you.
Thank you for your feedback. Nice setup btw with the CD6007 & PM6007 they look good together and sound amazing I bet. I noticed the price jump up too, funny thing is for a while the list prices on the Marantz website were going less than the used units. Its been really nice this past month digging up my CD collection and listening to them, and I cant fault the Audio quality of the CD6007, and I cant fault you either for liking the brand
I have a silver AK DAC version of Marantz CD6007. I really like it, sometimes I even use headphone output.
I bought one last year. I could not be happier. Bigger more detailed sound stage.

@@protekbh1821 Yamaha CDC 600 changer which I still love and use. Dammed good but the Marantz is a bit better.

Have Audiolab 6000CDT I bought as ex-display and that’s using an r2r ladder dac sound is outstanding.
I bought a new 6000 cdt about 5 weeks back. Paid new but then sawa second hand one for 250 , doh .
Still good for the money tho

I bought the CD6005 back in 2013. Still going strong and have no intention of retiring it yet. Was considering the combined streamer model a while ago but opted for Bluesound dedicated one as much cheaper. If the 6005 packs up, I'll check the current best options but Marantz will start favourite. I think I have same amp as your video with Dali Oberon 5 speakers and Technics Mk7 deck. Happy with my set up which is the main thing. Other people have different preferences which I always find interesting. There's no such thing as a perfect set up, everything is personal choice. What was your free cd then?
Thanks for your feedback, i was eyeing a CD6005 as well, was going to grab it had i not got this offer on the 6007. They are both pretty much the same anyway. As long as you like what you hear with your setup is what counts. The free CD was a the latest one from Weeknd
i too have the 6005, nothing wrong with it except the remote died about 3 or 4 years ago ! otherwise, the player is good !

My concern about buying a used CD player is how many years it will play without problems like skipping or stoping and the ability to handle scratches. A test of these capabilities is quite important! Thanks for the video!
Yes thats always a concern. But you always to find spare parts for cd players especially the drive unit

Interesting presentation thanks - I had 6006 a few years ago and I really liked it - and I am thinking about a 6007 - BUT I was offered a good deal on a new CD60 and I'm very tempted to buy it -- I can get a 6007 boxed in as new condition for about €400 and a new CD60 for €600 .. Thanks Paul, for your input once more. I think the CD60 would be a better upgrade for sure, specially since the 6006 and 6007 are so much alike. Let me know if you do actually get it, would be interesting to know your feedback on it.

I have a Marantz CD6007 it is superb! Using KEF q350 speakers with it an powered by an Arcam SA20 Amplifier.😊

i have a 6007 and when i first listened to it, it sounded muffled and now i know why,
i am really pissed off about it particularly when it is advertised as AK chip and mine has the
ESS..yes i have listened to one with the correct chip..you can hear the difference.
Wow thanks for the comment. I would love to have the opportunity to listen to the AK and ESS chips back to back on the 6007. To anyone out there interested in buying one, check the DAC. As a workaround you can always connect it to an external DAC of your choice
Don´t understand,,, how can Marantz includ a diferent chip wheh they announce the AK component? Very strange all of this, except they sell two different model and different prices. Please, tell me something about this, cause im going to buy a second hand CD6007 Marantz next week. Thank you,
From what i can gather there was a fire at the factory that manufactures the chips and they were not able to get enough of the ak so the ess was put in and the circuit board was modified also to suit the different chip.@@damianfernandezruiz4804

I just wish that audio companies would also go back to the silver faced equipment as an option to other than black or titanium.
I can agree with that. Some companies like Yamaha and Rotel still do, but would like to see more do it

how are we supposed to know if it worked or not if you did not play it?
Because we would have said so, he's not selling it... Also playing unauthorised music on UA-cam can get a video cancelled.
@@mgsee He could have played the cd and showed the play time on the display without any music being heard. So the video just shows it power on and that is it. What is the purpose in that case? So how is it not suspiciously cheap?

The reason i didnt play anything was because I didnt want the video to get flagged for playing licenced content. Yhe unit powers up and works fine
one of few excellent mods for this player is to obtain some road kill (Halfords) its a bitumen/foil - sound deadening compound just cut and peel off the correct size for the underneath the cover, apply with a little heat and.....be amazed.
I have seen another youtuber do exactly what you mention. Relatively cheap mod, but how effective is it? Thanks for your feedback
Buzz kill, sorry. My cd 6005, cd 6006 sounded ok as a low budget cd player, unfortunately the transports go batty after only about a year or so of light use. Good luck. Presently spinning silver on an Audiolab 6000cdt out to an SMSL SU-9 dac.
You dont have to be sorry at all. You are expressing your opinion and experience with the device. The Audiolab was on my shortlist.

Try a higher quality external DAC. I think you will notice the difference.
Ill try it with a Topping E50 dac that I have, it would be interesting to hear the differences

You're quite right. The term cheap is relative. Considering the other CD players I was looking at and their asking price, relatively this was cheap.
