  • The Rotel CD11 Tribute is an excellent CD player currently available for $600. In this video, we take a closer look and compare it to my aging Onkyo C-7030 CD player and Oppo BDP-103 Bluray player.

    I purchased this player about an month ago as part of a "rediscover my CD collection" thing. Been enjoying immensely.

      I also have a Rotel Tribute cd player for my 2nd system . Very detailed sound for price Drawer feels a little flimsy but no complaints for £300 🇬🇧 uk new I paid a year & half ago.
      On my main system I have a 12 year old Onkyo C7070 - which at £450 🇬🇧was a significant step up sound quality wise from C7030 referred to in this video & does sound better, a little more analogue warmth & with more depth & weight than the Tribute with my Naim AB class amplifier. 🎶
      The cd recess on the Onkyo drawer is VERY shallow.
      A CD slide over the back whilst the drawer was closing & jammed. A local hi Fi repair guy retrieved it & I was really impressed seeing the internal build quality.

    I wonder if how/whether the CD11MII improves on the 11 Tribute

    Some say Rotel cd11 is a little bright or is the opposite? (uppermids and highs).Of course there are also personal preferences!!For someone who want a cd player with "sweet" sound with deep/strong bass,what do you propose?Rotel's transport, does it have a subframe from below?Which has more gentle highs?Rotel or Onkyo 7030?What about onkyo 7030s sound filters?Does it change the sound (highs)??The interior of the Marange cd 6007 is much fuller but has harsh uppermids and highs (for my taste).

      @nadiraudio  Рік тому +2

      The Rotel was more resolving in the high frequencies than the other players, but I didn't find it to be bright. Similarly, a lot of people complain about the KEF LS-50s being too bright, but I think they just take on the character of whatever equipment is being used. Overall, the setup I present in the video seemed fairly neutral to me, but if you're really sensitive to the high frequencies, you might prefer the Onkyo or Oppo.

      Try picking up an Arcam DV 88 which can be had very cheaply these days, it won't shred your ears & sounds just as detailed as my Denon DCD 800 player👍

    I think that the most direct competitor to the CD11 is the Emotiva ERC-4.

    • @clivepacker
      @clivepacker 24 дні тому

      I had the ERC-4 since it launched and it’s a fantastic machine, with two gripes: no gapless playback and quite a lot of mechanical noise. About a month ago I upgraded to the Rotel DT-6000, which fixes both those issues and is definitely a little more detailed, and a lot better in terms of soundstage and instrument separation than the Emotiva. All that said it’s a testament to the performance of the ERC-4 at its price point that it takes a very much more expensive player to beat it.

    Are complaints about the player not playing toward the end of longer CDs true? It just stops playing?
    Also, does this player have gapless playback?

    • @nadiraudio
      @nadiraudio  2 місяці тому

      I haven't experienced any issues with the CD11 not playing near the end of longer CDs. And yes, it supports gapless playback.

    Hi can you do me a favour and tell me if the Rotel CD11 Tribute CDplayer does a program play?, I really fancy the player but a lot of modern players don't seem to have that capability and its something that I want on a player, If it does have program play I will buy one, Thanks in advance if you are nice enough to reply.

    • @nadiraudio
      @nadiraudio  11 місяців тому +3

      I've never tried it, but the CD11 Tribute does have a limited program play that can only be setup using the remote. It allows you to memorize up to 20 tracks on the current disc for playback in a specific order, along with repeat and random functions.

  • @Dogan1960

    Do you know if the Rotel A11 has gapless playback with programmed consecutive tracks? I like to listen to specific parts of CDs and if these programmed sections happen to have tracks that segue into one another without interruption, ie. classical music, gapless playback becomes very important. One way to do a quick test is program a couple of consecutive tracks from a live recording and listen for the sound to break up in the applause between songs.

      @@martincosby9743 The Rotel rep from Canada got back to me and confirmed it does not, at least not with 'consecutive programmed tracks'. It may have at one time but apparently not any more, the same being true for Cambridge Audio's AXC35.

    • @nadiraudio
      @nadiraudio  10 місяців тому +2

      I just pulled out some old CD-Rs, and the CD11 was able to play them just fine. I don't have any CD-RWs or other recordable formats to test. The manual says it only supports CD-DA, so I guess the only way to find out about the other formats would be to try it out.

    I made the mistake of buying the Rotel CD11 player. Problems with it by the end of the first week. It steered me away from ever buying a Rotel product again.

    • @gizmo903
      @gizmo903 7 місяців тому +1

      What problems are you having? You can get a R232/usb cable and download the latest firmware from Rotel. Doing that fixed my troublesome CD11 Tribute.

    • @Teachering
      @Teachering 7 місяців тому

      I am very interested to know more about the R232/usb cable. Firmware from Rotel? I would like to hear more.
      The trouble I have is that as I listen to the CD11 player it will often stop playing in the middle of a musical passage as if I had come to the end of the cd. Very annoying.
      Was this the kind of trouble that you experienced? Again, I would like to hear more concerning the firmware you speak of.@@gizmo903
