  • I am a huge fan of using a two hook Sheepshead and Black Drum rig. Putting more bait in the water attracts more and bigger fish and allows you better chance of putting hooks in mouths. This new rig is a spin on my classic two hook Carolina rig, utilizing the modern Jawbreaker Jig as the weight and was an instant success. Easier to tie and less terminal tackle is a win win. Let me know if you have similar success catching them up.
    16' Sundance Skiff, 30HP Mercury
Daiwa Saltist LD30H - Penn Carnage II 6'2"
100 Pound Power Pro, 50 Pound Mono Leader
    43:2 Fishing Jawbreaker Jig
Catch Mud Crabs under "stuff", below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, oyster cuts are nasty). The purple crabs with spots and striped legs are stone crabs and are illegal to possess.
Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

My biologist cousin calls that an artificial biosphere. Your bait is also chumming, attracting more fish.

Glad you fished those bridges (not been real productive for me there lately); got me motivated to go back as it’s a five minute boat trip from the house for me. Like the rig idea. Will give it a try.

Just putting it out there, if your boat is ever in the shop and you need a boat to go I’m more than willing, you can even drive if you’re willing to teach me how to catch sheepshead. Good video as usual.

Never seen that done with the Jawbreakers! Interesting for sure.

Excellent video! Local fisherman, using locally made tackle and putting fish in the boat! Smart fishing idea with your new rig… best of both worlds… your double hook rig (confirmed fish catcher) and jaw breaker (confirmed fish catcher)… they don’t have a chance! Haha! can’t wait for the next video!

I have been doing the same kinda rig. It just makes sense to use a jig as a weight. Good video!

Have you considered using a dropper loop and a floating hook for that stinger? Could reduce the chance of tangles. As always, great video.

We call that " building the bite " up here in NY. We use a similar strategy when targeting blackfish/tog. Anchor up , pound the spot. Usually the more fish we catch the more start showing up. Love the videos.

That's what's up! Build that bite and fish 'em hard until they quit...

Great rig, I'll definitely give it a try next time. My families place is in Newport around the Broad Creek bridge on 24. Have you ever found any sheeps in that area or near by? If you ever decide to give any lessons I'd be interested lol! I catch them here and there but there is something I'm missing that you have down pat lol.

Another awesome video. Great information as usual. 😊 Have you ever tried using two jawbreaker jigs at one time instead of a jig and a hook ???

How do you decide where to fish when there’s so many pilings? Do you mostly fish the major feed time? You’re always posting great videos. Can you do a video on mud crab ID. Thanks.

Fish hold at every piling but I prefer the deeper water because the bigger fish are usually there. I like the incoming tide best and yes the solunar was between 8am and 9am this morning so I made sure to be in a good spot before then. Mud Crab vs. Stone Crab video OTW.
