    I've looked up different flower pressing videos on UA-cam and yours is my favorite so far. It's like a fun science experiment. Thank you for showing them up close.

    Thanks for all the inspirations! I need to try pressing the superbena next year!
    I saw in some of videos earlier this year they mention that to avoid mold the blotting paper needs to be replaced once after the first 24 hours from adding the flower. In my experience I probably had time or remembered half of the time and forgot the rest. But that definitely helped me avoid the mold appearing.

      That makes so much sense! I’m going to try that next year with the ones that had mold.

    I love pressing flowers but I’m super cheap and refuse to purchase the fancy presses (although it would be a great gift😂). I’ve had great success making my own from. I made a big one from 2 12x12 particle boards- I think I had them in my art/painting stash. Less than $5 worth of hardware and upcycled paper/cardboard for the layers. It works amazingly well. I’ve also done one with a couple dollar store wood cutting boards (upcycled materials for the layers) and then I clamped it to an overhang on my countertop with some board clamps. Also highly effective! Just tips for those who may not want to use books but can’t afford a fancy presses. 😊

      This is such great info! I’ll follow this to make my larger one.

    This reminds me I need to check my flower press, I know there’s flowers inside. Out of sight, out of mind.
    I bought the flower press from Gardens Supply, but I feel like I can’t get it bound tight enough with the Velcro. It’s a gorgeous wooden press, but after looking at yours, I don’t think it’s as efficient. I also have a microwave one that I’ve yet to try.
    I noticed Amazon has an oversize press (15x11.4) with six screws and wingnuts. They also have one that besides the screws you can press it in the center from above. I better be careful. I’ll be collecting garden presses like I collect Garden books.

      Crate & Barrel! It’s called the Calypso collection and it’s modular so you can order different pieces based on what you need.

    Curiosity once again. The bottom right of your shelving unit I see a book of your garden? I just received books I had done of mine also. I went with once upon books I liked that you could add title on cover and text inside. I'm curious if you would share your book and company you used.

      It’s actually a painting by Sara Glupker! She asked to use a photo of my garden last year to make a painting and then of course I wasn’t going to let someone else buy it 😆

    What kind of paper do you use in the press with the flower outlines on top?

    • @ChicagoGardener
      @ChicagoGardener  Місяць тому

      It comes with the press! I’m not sure exactly what it’s called. I know you can use wax paper as well.
