Wanted to let everyone know I will be doing a deep dive into the seed categories I'm growing starting in January! For example, a whole video on the zinnias I'm growing with photos and videos plus my experience with them so far.
What’s up with the negative comments? I actually really enjoyed this video. I struggle with organization. I found your ideas of photo boxes and storage containers very creative and informative. I’m ordering some photo boxes for my seeds. I’ve had a lot of seeds given to me from other gardeners that are in baggies. I just ordered blank seed packets to organize those. Thank you, for all your creative ideas! ❤❤❤
It was fun to see all the flowers you like to grow although I know of many of them already. I started a little bit more flowers in my garden only because it brings me so much joy to see those blooms. I usually do vegetables. I had to get another six pack of those clear containers for my flowers and a couple of days ago I purchased a birdies raised garden bed, which I have not received yet, but I am really really excited. Waiting patiently for your seed starting video.
My favorite topic!! SEEDS!! I am so excited for seed starting already. It's so early, but I already started Lisianthus because they're so slow. Now I'm ready to go home after work and organize my seeds. You've inspired me to finally grow gomphrena this year.
Thanks to you I am really hooked on zinnias. You stressed how easy they are to grow & most of all I ended up with so many cut flower arrangements. I never would have imagined zinnias as my favorite flower. Also, as a container gardener, they give me “a bang for my buck”. ❤
The only veggie I will grow next year will be lettuce. Our spoiled bunny loved the fresh lettuce and herbs from the garden. 😅 Thanks for the inspiration to get organized.
@ChicagoGardener I grew chamomile, lemon balm, mint, parsley, cilantro, and a couple of different basils. I thought I'd grown enough for drying for tea AND fresh eating for the bunny, but I underestimated how much he'd enjoy the fresh herbs.
It’s cool seeing your system of seed sorting! This year I have baggies full of the different seeds, in order that I plan to plant them. Beg #1 is my wintersowing seeds: Perennials and biennials, to start around the solstice in a few weeks. Bag #2 is lisianthus and heliotrope for starting in the Aerogarden in January. And so on.
I'll be getting a ton of pink gomphrena for next year, last year was my 1st year gardening and only had white...I loved your pinks in the big pot this year❤❤ty for great content!! Also getting more zinnias they were a show stopper ❤
Hi, I loved this video. My seeds are in the same photo holders. Alphabetized. I am growing more asters next year. My celosia rose gold are growing and look healthy. Have a great day.
I love this kind of video. And your mess is not very messy compared to mine. I just realized how many duplicates I've ordered. Do you know of any upcoming Chicago-area seed swaps?
I don't know of any scheduled yet, but I see them start popping up on Instagram in January. I'll share them in stories there and mention any upcoming ones in videos here when I see them!
I did this very thing 2 weeks ago, but the problem is if there's like christmas sales....then there might be more seeds. Who knows? Thanks for showing how you do it.
I started writing the word "EMPTY" with a thick sharpie on the top front of each empty packet as I sow. Then I go through the empty collection to decide which to reorder, but I do keep all the empties till enough time passes where I'm sure I won't grow again.
Just curious since you mentioned the germination rate, how do you feel about storing seeds in the fridge? That's where I stored mine this year but you might just have too much for it to be an option for you space-wise?
I stored pepper seeds I harvested in the fridge once and they disappeared over winter so now I don’t trust myself to store any seeds in there 🤣 I will though if any seeds need cold stratification.
@@ChicagoGardener Aw I see thanks the answer! I had the idea when looking at how Seed Banks store theirs and I've just now found that Johnny's seeds also recommends the fridge for long time storage. Apparently for every 10 degree less in storage the seed shelf life doubles down to an optimal 40ish F.
A beautiful women who likes to get her hands dirty. What's not to love... I myself bought what looks like photo organizers from Michaels and the seed packs fit beautifully.
This was not a fun or informative video , take the time to show each packet with the name real big . You should watch other UA-camrs show us there seeds.
Yes, editing a video to include captioned names and photos takes a lot of time. I feel this method memorializes train of thought for Bethany, but does not mean much for me when varieties are glossed over so quickly.

Thank you!! I love the photo boxes. I use them to store my dried flowers too.

Let me know how your lisianthus does! I go back and forth on if I want to try it.
This video has definitely inspired me to organize my massive seed mess !
It feels good to finally have things organized!

I cannot wait to order my seeds for next year! It is going to be my first year gardening on my balcony.
I’m so excited for you!!!! You have to let me know how it goes.
Thanks for the reminder lol, I need to get get organized!
Everything needs to be organized by March bc I know I won’t be doing it after I start seeds 🤣
This is so fun! I love seeing your collection. I look forward to ordering some new seed packets soon in preparation for Spring 2025 😊
I am going to be ordering way too many more, I know it!
The only veggie I will grow next year will be lettuce. Our spoiled bunny loved the fresh lettuce and herbs from the garden. 😅 Thanks for the inspiration to get organized.
Oh I love that 😆 what are the bunny’s favorite herbs?
@ChicagoGardener I grew chamomile, lemon balm, mint, parsley, cilantro, and a couple of different basils. I thought I'd grown enough for drying for tea AND fresh eating for the bunny, but I underestimated how much he'd enjoy the fresh herbs.
I did the exact same thing( organizing all my seeds ) It was actually fun and good to see what I already had and didn’t need to order more of.
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s always a good feeling to get organized, especially when it comes to seeds!
Ooh, precious metal zinnia seeds! I grew those last year and collected the seed, gonna grow that seed this year. They were so gorgeous!
I loved the mix so much!! I think the pink was my favorite, what about you?
I ordered my calendar. I use it as my journal.

Beg #1 is my wintersowing seeds: Perennials and biennials, to start around the solstice in a few weeks. Bag #2 is lisianthus and heliotrope for starting in the Aerogarden in January. And so on.
How has lisianthus done for you? Sometimes I want to grow it and then sometimes I think I'll be too impatient to try.

Depending on how bright of a pink you like, carmine and raspberry cream are my favorite pinks!
Hi, I loved this video. My seeds are in the same photo holders. Alphabetized. I am growing more asters next year. My celosia rose gold are growing and look healthy. Have a great day.
Which asters are you planning to grow!? I might need to get some more varieties 🤣
@ all of the blue ones, lavender, tower chamois, banary’s bright red, and salmon Janina. The red one is from Johnnys and it is a beautiful deep rose.
Thanks😊
I love this kind of video. And your mess is not very messy compared to mine. I just realized how many duplicates I've ordered.
Do you know of any upcoming Chicago-area seed swaps?
I don't know of any scheduled yet, but I see them start popping up on Instagram in January. I'll share them in stories there and mention any upcoming ones in videos here when I see them!
Fun! Where do you get the precious metals zinnia seed?
I got them last year from Floret!
I did this very thing 2 weeks ago, but the problem is if there's like christmas sales....then there might be more seeds. Who knows? Thanks for showing how you do it.
Oh I know there will be more seeds even though I keep telling myself there isn’t enough room for all of them 😆
I started writing the word "EMPTY" with a thick sharpie on the top front of each empty packet as I sow. Then I go through the empty collection to decide which to reorder, but I do keep all the empties till enough time passes where I'm sure I won't grow again.
I like that idea! That would be a much better use of my empty packets than just piling them in a box 😆
What is your favorite zinnia series and why
Queen lime in terms of looks. But it’s not as powdery mildew resistant as other varieties, so I’m trying some of those next year too!
Just curious since you mentioned the germination rate, how do you feel about storing seeds in the fridge? That's where I stored mine this year but you might just have too much for it to be an option for you space-wise?

Aya tienen de todo
When I empty a seed packet I put the package in a envelope so when I seed shop again I know what I used up.
That’s a smart idea instead of my strategy of just putting them back with all the other seeds 🤣 I’m definitely going to start doing that!
That’s a lot of zinnias!
It is more zinnias than I have room for and I may have ordered more when I was refilling my gomphrena 😆
@ I didnt grow any this year but my wife is named zinnia so it kinda counts 😂
Some libraries take seed donations
Oooh! There’s one just a few blocks from me so I’ll definitely ask them.

She’s showing how she organizes her collection, not talking about flower varieties.
I’ll be making specific videos on the categories of seeds I’m growing soon! This was just to show how I organize them all.
I enjoyed this! You do your own thing😊. We aren't looking for a copy of other youtubers! Enjoy 😉 from Western Colorado
