I don’t understand why there is STILL the need to raise awareness of the dangers of drunk driving. I’m pretty sure everyone knows how bad and how dangerous it is, they’re just deeply selfish humans who choose to put themselves first and others last. How incredibly sad for the family as a whole. ❤️

I was working the other day when this older lady who's a regular told me that every Sunday she likes to drive her granddaughter around and to eat somewhere. She said that she was glad that she gets to have that time with her every Sunday.
I think I might've asked something like do you eat next door or have particular spots that you like going to? She said they often go to the same place every time, so in response I said "oh do you really like the food there or something?"
She said something along the lines of 'No.. but they have good drinks/wine , and I like to have a few drinks with my food' or something along those lines.
In my head i was thinking didn't she just say that she drives her granddaughter around? 🤨 So she's driving her granddaughter while slightly under the influence. (In my head)
She then said that it's not enough drinks to where she's impaired, but just enough for a buzz or whatever.
🤔 I then thought to myself well whatever that's not any of my business. She'll have to take accountability if anything happens.

@@spongebob8445 Shocking to hear. Yet why would anyone drive a golf cart on the road and let someone sit on the back of it. I mean everyone is drilled into their head to wear a seat belt in a car. because it is so dangerous. but then to let people sit out in the open on the back of a golf cart and drive it on the street? like why would anyone do that? Not blaming the victim no way. and the other driver was very drunk but still. drunk driver could have smashed into the back of a vehicle and damage would not have been as bad. but to put a human being on the back of your vehicle is just negligent let;s face it.

This is one of the most heartbreaking stories I’ve ever seen. Imagine you just finished up your wedding, the greatest moment of your life. Alcohol is legal...I'm sorry, but nobody can do anything about it. It is legal and thats all there is to it. You can light up rooms, be selfless and help other people below you to try to make you feel better, be a "movie star" but in the end,the reality, it was for nothing.
Laws need to be changed for Pete's sake!

if theres anything we can be certain of, its that the drunk driver drank OFTEN like it was a personality trait and got constant speeding tickets, she knew the risks and that she was dangerous she just didnt care. some people really think they are the main character and no one else matters before themselves. She looks sweet and i want to be empathetic towards her but she honestly deserves all the hate she gets.

A huge problem is the law, the courts. Impaired drivers are not punished very much, so why should they stop? In my state, you get a $100 fine, waived jail time (yes, WAIVED), license revoked (big deal, they drive impaired, they don't care about a license), and told not to do it again. So of course it's rampant. And it's infuriating that this is still and issue because it's 100% preventable and utterly senseless.

If the family wants to combat drunk driving they need to start with SC legislation. SC thinks DUI is a joke. If you don’t do the breathalyzer it’s only a $992 fine and everyone gets out with a PR bond ESPECIALLY in Charleston. The DUI laws in SC help the offenders not the victim

Truer words were never spoken. I retired to SC from Pennsylvania. I loved riding my motorcycle and wanted to spend my time exploring the beautiful scenery in SC. I rode for two years here and sold my bike. Too many close calls, too many funerals for fellow biker's because of the amount of drunks and chemically impaired driver's allowed on the road. It didn't take me long to realize that driving drunk in this State isn't taken seriously at all. Additionally, SC has a huge problem with the amount of driver's driving unsafe, uninsured, unregistered vehicle's.
SC is one of the few States that doesn't do regular vehicle inspections.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this couple just starting their lives.
Hopefully, with the amount of attention this vehicular homicide is going to create the judge that will ultimately hear this Case will make an example out of her. Sadly unless (she isn't good ol'boy connected) If she's from Folly Beach, chance's are her family is well connected and this will end up as nothing.

Unfortunately we will always be reminding people to not drink and drive and i honestly don't think though's who do choose to drink will ever admit they just simply can not drive even if they feel like they are sober enough. Everybody's body is different to the amounts they can handle but i believe even if its just one drink, don't drive and therefore you will train yourself to do the right thing. We unfortunately have to hear and see these tragedies over and over again. Its just so sad! 😢I hope these Family's and their Friends can one day get past this horrible tragedy. I’d say most drunk drivers are alcoholics and alcoholics are not in their right minds until they’re recovering. That’s why most are so remorseful once the are about a year into sobriety. They’ve returned to sanity by that time. It’s devastating that it takes something horrific to bring about change.

This is true, and it’s bc they want the convenience of their own car. They are probably suburbs or rural. One thing that can change is how ppl allow others to drive drunk. I was with friends several times when one insists to leave after drinking… I sure tried, but friends told me you can’t stop a grown adult. I had to let him leave drunk. Ppl acted like “oh well, he’s grown, it’s his free choice to break the law” and I was really conflicted about that.
