Jimmy Page is THE GUITAR GOD! With so many amazing solos & iconic riffs. To me what makes him the greatest, his undeniable passion, & plays what he’s feeling. Call him sloppy, I’ll take his sloppy, over someone else’s perfection. Perfection isn’t the true genius, that’s being redundant.
@ exactly! During the lives much of what he’s playing is on the fly, & is more amazing then spit shined perfect. I think he once said something like, his playing is his voice & speaks for him. I don’t remember his exact words, but it was something like that.
hahaha. grow up. in your eyes page is the best. i rate him in the top 10. number one not in a million years. you should start listening to other great guitar players and you will find an be enlightened that page is don't come even close. haha
Sorry disagree with that. Page is a great guitar player but he lacks technical ability. He doesn't connect with the fretboard property. Very sloppy. Blackmore is far better and he makes the guitar sing emotionally same as page but on a whole new level
I love many many guitarists but Jimmy Page is my favorite guitarist and will always be. I grew up in the 70's and my older siblings were hippies and we had all the music of the 70's in our house. I knew all the songs and many different guitarists styles and loved them all for one reason or another but when I hear Page play my ears tell my heart that this guy is the best guitarist as far as creative genius, technique, producing and just all around max talent. Hats of to you Jimmy Page!! I try to make everyone I know hear your music because your music is what shaped my heart.
Ahhhh Stairway, the song that defines so many lives, we grew up with it, grew with it, absorbed it, and still revere it. Unique in all music, it is the ultimate song, the ultimate guitar solo. there are some solos more technically perfect, other guitarists more technically perfect than our god Jimmy, BUT, no other song touches you, takes you on such a journey as Stairway, no other guitarist wrings the emotion out of his 'stringed lover like James Patrick! For 52 years i have been constantly playing it, still as enthralled as i first was. So much so i finally started learning to play, and WILL play it just for me on my 70th birthday, next year! The musical score to my life, Led Zeppelin, "Thank You" Jimmy, Bonzo, JPJ, Percy!
Noone to touch the great Jimmy Page. No other band as great as Led Zeppelin. The world of music owes so much to Jimmy for finding these awesome musicians and bringing them together as the ultimate band.
@@grahamfay2473 The 4 musicians were perfection, and NOT in a boring way. Jimmy was turned down by other vocalists, before one recommended Robert Plant. When Jimmy heard Robert sing, he couldn't believe Robert was available. Lucky us! 💙🎶💙🎶💙🎶💙🎶💙
After seeing them twice I was persuaded that Jimmy's solo begins with the intro and continues throughout the song. His guitar is the focus continually from start to finish. Amazing how good it is.
I laugh at people when they say a certain guitarist was the best whether it be Hendrix, Clapton, Beck or even the new generation of guitarists. All you have to do is mention the fact that Page wrote songs that could be included in many different genres. You won't see that in all those other guitarists repertoire that some consider to be the greatest.
@@chlfje you have your own opinion others theirs. It's pure nonsense that he could be in different genres. He is not the only one. His guitar technique is somewhat sloppy and does not use the fretboard very well. He is in no way the best guitarist, not by a long shot. Beck is so much better than him, Blackmore technically brilliant and far better guitar player as page admitted. The greatest rock and blues guitarist is still Hendrix. Page use to play bass with Jeff beck playing lead because he was not good enough.. still not good enough to be rated the best. Has I said it is only your opinion and your opinion doesn't mean much because there are millions more opinions from all over the music guitar players world

@@davidwebber9511LMAO I had to laugh first at your dumbass comment. "Page used to play bass with jeff beck playing lead because he was not good." LISTEN dumbo, Jimmy had to play bass first because at that time Paul Samwell Smith quit the yardbirds while they're still on tour and AT THAT TIME, Chris Dreja still can't play a bass so Jimmy need to back up the bassist position. @@davidwebber9511 no way bro, Page is composer of another kind like guitarist in rock world.. Who doesn't see this doesn't understand to music ( or he have not heard all LZ master piece but has strong quotations like you)
Jimmy Page is such an exceptional guitarist that, while you might not rank him as the best ever or he might not be your favorite his work first with The Yardbirds, then Led Zeppelin and later into much solo and session work easily places him way up on anyone's list. He is THAT good.
Good guitarists develop their own style. Jimmy Page's style is unique, his talent is innate, in his genius he not only explores this gift but also goes beyond the limits of creative freedom, his ability to improvise, alternating between explosive power and delicacy in the same song, his riffs and solos are proof of his technical mastery and emotional depth. He is so talented that no one can be as good as him...even when he is "sloppy".
Yes but there's no credit to the soft horn in the open beginning that John Paul Jones played on the organ lllll. The most beautiful part of stairway all credit to you that organ was so powerful and beautiful it doesn't get any better J.P.J the best
I’ve studied that lead. It’s not just the guitar. It’s John Paul Jones in the background,. It’s John Bonham with his double drums. It’s multiple layers coming together like a great recipe.

Respectfully, I'd argue that fellow Yardbird guitarist, Eric Clapton, did a better solo when he was with Cream and recorded "Crossroads" live in 1968--years before Page did "Stairway to Heaven." Another honorable mention goes to Ritchie Blackmore's solo on the live version of "Highway Star" in 1972, which was faster and more technically sound. However, to each his own . . .
JP may have been a little "sloppy" during LZ live concerts. However.....what he recorded on vinal is absolute dynamic genius.
