Had no idea you could drag an LFO into the noise oscillator 😮😮, and i overlooked that you can send an oscillator into the noise osc as well. Very nice! Subbed!
"Go to waveform, single, then click send to noise osc" My head exploded from that alone, simply because I have some double fm patches involving the noise osc and I was limited to very few waveforms that it included (dont even get me started on trying to trim one wave on ableton 😂)
pigments is fantastic, i think it might sound a bit better than serum even. But for me Serum has the best interface so i use it the most :) I’ve found with Pigments sample oscillator as a modulator you can get similar results to the effects in this video
Very nice! I prefer using FM from Noise and set mod depth to about 50% and manually tweak the pitch of the noise and set the octave in the carrier signal if it's FM i'm going for at least. However I won't get it in key this way but good enough timbre to work with anyway
nice yeah both ways are cool! i quite like using a mixture of the two, textures can get super crazy that way. However i do really like being able to RM or Sync warp so that kinda forces me to do it this way. On the other hand noise osc modding the sync warp can also be aweosme af. On the other other hand filter fm with the noise osc is really tasty
@@MuteProduction Gotta try that, experimenting with the noise osc is still quite uncharted territory for me. I know it's always been there but never really dived into it
that's so awesome. never knew that you could use the ''audio sampler'' as a ''time selector'' modulation, you get amazing new results with this instead of using the lfo or chaos all the time.
Great tutorial! In addition to the great Serum tips, I was very interested in the M4L Autoplay device but I've recently switched over to Bitwig. I found that the Rhythmizer VST is a good substitute for Autoplay. Cheers!
Thank you! Would be great to learn how to make that reverbertion on fx bell sound at 7:34. It sounds like you are inside of a big metal tube. May be you can share this project or sell? Im trying to find out how to get that reverberation, but cant find out which pluging can do it. That specific psy trance "synthetic" reverberation topic completely is very interesting.
Bro @Mute Production...please make a tutorial on how you making all the other foresty sounds that are in the background of the song. Like the whale type squelch singing lead that's singing in the back and the atmost, and the bell sounds....Lol sorry for asking much
Dam some gnarly tones after experimenting with different wavetables and modulating the noise osc pitch. What else could i modulate with the noise osc for interesting textures and sounds?
Cool breakdown. The Noise OSC is also cool because you can drag any .wav sample into it, so you can layer in your own drum/instrument one shots or loops or anything into it, and basically you can have your modulation source have some tonal characteristics of say, a brass stab or drum break. Also, OSC A and OSC B can both use FM from the Noise on the Warp knobs, so you can always additionally do FM modulation directly onto an OSC from the Noise OSC. If you want extra wonkiness, play with the Phase knob on the Noise OSC while your sounds are playing, especially if you dragged a more realistic noise sample into the Noise OSC, because it's like playing with the playhead position in a granular FX. The Phase knob is like a sample start time, and the Random knob adds a bit of variation on top of that. The Noise OSC can somewhat become a granular OSC.
all good points, in particular that manipulation of the phase is super powerful, I quite like using the velocity to control the phase and pitching the noise osc right down! :)
Hello !! Please help me, I try to follow the steps but in my Serum version there's no Send to noise oscillator option in the Table Edit.. why can it be?! I love this sound!! thanks for sharing, I hope I can achieve this sound is amazing!! cheers

When it comes to modulating the coarse pitch of the oscillator, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that ‘regular FM’ is pitched tracked as well, isn’t it, or am I missing something very obvious 😅 ? Basically why does FM from B with a saw doesn’t sound the same ? It’s actually phase modulation in that case I’m guessing ? Anyway love your sounds and sound design videos !
fm from b is phase modulation, which can sound great too but imo fm is a more powerful technique. there’s a number of different types of fm, read this if your interested learningmodular.com/understanding-the-differences-between-exponential-linear-and-through-zero-fm/

What is the noise actually modulating? The filter cutoff or the saw wave? Or what is modulating the saw wave?? Or is the saw wave modulationg the noise oscilator? But what are you doing with the lfo? 🤔
@@MuteProduction Turns out it's easy in Massive X. No need to use the noise osc. You can set the LFO to track the oscillator at any percentage of the rate. Playing with the shape of the osc and the shape of the LFO - my current favourite is a ramp down for the LFO and a sharkstooth for the osc.
