Thanks!!! Keep them coming, it really helps us improve. Maybe we can have an episode on the "KSHMRish" drop leads (dharma, bazaar, mandala), and specifically how they sound so ethnic/oriental? I wonder if this is an illusion which comes from the type of melody, layering with organic sounds or even coming from different parts of the track, which host ethnic sounds only; OR maybe the lead IS synthesised in a specific matter, which makes it sound ethnic?
You could try using a scale that is being associated with oriental sound

that's the triplet psy bass, from someone who grew up in Goa i would not say that it is "the" psy bass. you lose so much drive with the triplets! some clever sidchain and gateing the 16th bass notes can have the same effect but with way more drive.
then again Psy is not about Psy any more as Psychedelics are hardly taken by anyone , So glad i got the full effect of the 90's! Bom Shanker baya

General Roast nope. Hardstyle is still having people reinvent the genre. (Sub zero project for example)
theres loads od cool psy just dig deep man, check out purple heagon records for example, doing some awesome shit
how would it not be repetitive? every single drop is just "dudududududududdududududu" & exactly the same, you can literally sample someone else his drop in your song and no one would even notice

It honestly not that hard.
The kick is bad.. it has way too long tail and goes into the bass frequencies, also when adding eq to the bass you need to explain that each boost to certain frequency can make offset to the whole mix of the bass, you also need to sidechain ur mix.. so basicly you covered nothing and gave tons of potencial producers to make the biggest mistake ever.. you didnt even show them the basics like mono/stereo difference.. sorry for my rude comment but to make kick and bass properly it takes waay more effort than putting random sample kick and serum with compresor..

Psytrance bass is probably one of my favorite sounds ever. It is like a machine gun firing in your ears and that makes me feel extremely energetic☺😂

it sounds good on triplets but doesnt sound the best when it isnt on triplets, what do i do to make it sound good?
In Fl Studio, just launch Harmor, load Analog Bass 1. Turn off reverb, done.

I was literally trying to make a psytrance track yesterday and was struggling with the bass. You guys just read my mind. Thank you!!
Or... render one bar to audio, apply Saturn with three bands (150Hz and 2700Hz crossovers) render again, then EQ, render. You get much more control over the sound, + you save CPU + you can aply that same technique each time your bassline changes. The shaping of the transients can be done just like you want and you'll get a much more "Astrix like" bassline. Hits hard, low. + You get to do some multiband processing.

Everyone getting the envelopes wrong, he locked the view on the blue section so if you made the shape the same you could still have different values on your parameters making it sound different

im trying to look for the minimalprog/alien records style tutorial. that style bassline with wicked attack that just bunches through the mix. artists like jilax, harmonika, mandragora, doubkore. You can find similar samples but nothing compares to using a live bass
I'm trying to find about Mandragora bass for a long time, and I still cannot reach that thing
Diego Lipinski doubkores samples are the closest i can get. Layer them with a bass and ur pretty much there. Just want a live bass for filter cutoff so i can have fun making basslines instead of robotic sounding drum kits

The typical psytrance basslines are NOT triplets, it´s a normal 4/4. Kick on 1 and the Bassline is playing on 3 and 4. In Darkpsy u can play the bass on 2, 3 and 4.

Just a saw wave with a filter. Easy :)
You don't need a serum. With an operator (or 3xOsc if you use FL Studio) you can make a really nice PsyTrance bass.
Serum is way more complex compared to 3xOsc...in serum you have more freedom tweaking every little detail and aspect of the waves and envelopes and lfo's etc...there are no limits...you can achieve some unique sounds that weren't existing in the nature before
Saad oh yes,I know, and I agree but I just think that Serum has WAY MORE potential for making, as you said, unique sounds that weren't existing in the nature before, not for just a saw wave with a low pass filter.
