I got the 1 III last year and I've loved it. It's definitely not a phone for all the Samsung and iphone lovers out there, but if you love having a device that is made for a true enthusiast, then the Sony phones are for you. I shot a video with my Xperia 1 III going on a hot air balloon ride last week and it honestly is some of the most beautiful footage I've ever shot. The only thing I'd trade this phone for is a newer model at this point. Those other brands don't have the professional quality of content production this one has. None of my Samsung phones I had over the years could ever make footage like I made last week. Plus other brands don't offer the SD card slot and headphone jack anymore either. Again, I wouldn't recommend the flagship Sony phones to everyone. They're really made for the enthusiast market, but if you want those professional quality camera, audio, and video features on your phone alongside the SD card slot and headphone jack, then Sony is really the only company still offering all of that. I've never regretted getting my 1 III last year, and for my next phone I'll stick with Sony in another year or two.
I ditched my iPhone for a Sony Xperia 5ii purely for the camera and focus system. Using Alpha cameras professionally it was amazing to have eye focus and tracking in a phone. This model.... is next level. Already checked I can upgrade to it. So good... no notches, curved edges, an actual headphone jack... and that screen... 😍
So you use don't cameras and then you thought "hey I wunna buy a phone from them too so I can be even more of a masochist even when taking pictures with my phone"? Sony is many things but camera UIs that aren't garbage is not one of them

Beautiful!!! I own the Mark II. It still works great. I don't foresee changing it until a year or two from now. But if I needed a new phone, I would totally get this. I've only owned Xperia phones for over a decade now. Great products.
I have used 3 Xperia phones in the past and I loved them. But 3 years ago I have to switch to iPhone because of the more consistent photo quality on iPhone and it was before Sony released any Xperia I series phones. Now I think Sony has enough time to catch up and I really want to switch back but the money just holds me back. I will support Sony when I have money or when I can buy a used one at good price. WF-1000XM3 > Airpod Pro, Alpha 1 > any Canon mirrorless camera, I have a huge faith in Sony quality
Sony made the first phone I'm truly excited about in years! Got so many things right, shame for it's extreme price tag. My 2016 Pixel is well overdue for a replacement, but my budget is the 10 IV at best.. Yet that one doesn't even have 4K at all? The only thing I'd really miss by switching is all the gcam computational goodies, but also I am kind of fed up with supporting Google.
This is what every brand should be doing, nothing experimental, no less features but serious solutions. The 20 fps burst with HDR on all lenses, thats great. Idk how many photos I've missed because my phone's camera is never ready to capture continuously at full quality, today's phones take seconds to process the photos and if we talk about raw the wait is much longer.
I don’t know why don’t phone companies can save the photo in a buffer during a burst then process it later. I believe it how’s Sony phone works because this is how it works in Sony Alpha mirrorless camera
I grew up with Sony products for as far as I can remember. Products include PS (1,2,3,4 & 5), Walkman, Sony Ericson phones (now Xperia), TV, audio device, and many others. Sony is part of my life and I will support Xperia. The upcoming smaller version, Xperia 5 IV, I hope they will add wireless charging and ToF lens.

You don't need to have a phone with USB-C to have USB-C cables, all other products (audio products, microphones, cameras, laptops, powerbanks) have been using USB-C for years already. The smartphone market itself has already allowed USB-C to mature enough. My Xperia XZ Premium from 2017 is using a type-C. Chances are that most people have already switched to an even newer device with type-C (even higher chance now with all that excessive quick charging that hurts the battery today and the burn-ins from OLED panels that make some people buy a new phone because it's so expensive to replace) Sony has a very very niche market as they have already pulled out from many countries. The people using Xperias are likely to be using Sony phones already and that means they should already have an extra cable or two from Sony. Basically, if you have some already, this approach of not including cables is legit. If you don't have any, it's easy to grab one somewhere with greater durability than the ones that come from all these big brands. On the other hand, if they include the cables, that's a 100% footprint generation with no way around it for everyone. I believe that the people rocking a phone from pre-2017 without using any of the newer type-C devices (including headphones, cameras, laptops, or powerbanks) are already rare.

I absolutely never talked about Samsung sensors in general. I just wrote a fact: samsung's sensor used by the front facing camera on the Xperia 1 III is terrible and outdated with an 8MP capacity, that's it.

Looks like Sony is back with a bang with the Xperia IV going from strength to strength since the Xperia 1 with all the tons of features including the latest music pro and the world's first continuous OIS variable telephoto lens and everything that's packed in 8.2mm slim and 185g light weight design while still keeping all the essentials 3.5mm jack, hybrid sim with SD card option and a 5000 mah battery This is certainly the best Sony Xperia yet. Only sad thing is that's it's not going to be launched in India. #Sony❤️🥰

@@equest943 I have used quite few Sony phones myself and couple of which i had posted their review. When it comes to image quality than the auto mode it's the manual mode where the quality is better and for a new user it takes a little time to get used to but once you get used to you will definitely enjoy it. But sure in the past HDR was less compared to that times competition but now it's improved and slowly catching up to the competition.
Brilliant product! Well done, Sony! The only thing missing is bringing back the incredible glossy purple colour from the original Xperia 1. The ii, iii, and now iv have all shared the same dull colours. Maybe I'll hold off upgrading for 1 more year - love the original Xperia 1 purple so much, can't let it go.
Finally, they've upgraded the Front Camera to 12mp now. I've got the 1 III and I can say that I hate how bad the front camera is compared to the other brand. Is the 1 IV worth it for an upgrade from the 1 III or not, I'll wait for the gadget reviewer to hear their thoughts about this new Xperia 😁
@@novadasavage i got the 5ii too and i feel about the same. hardware wise almost perfect. software wise still a lot to do to compete with samsung iphone and google. most camera usability like making videos and be able to switch between lenses even selfie camere while recording is a nice feature for social media. and software support hopefully someday to 5 years. sony phones are quality and dont break quick so give us the software support too and then they will beat iphone and google :D
Sony maybe late to make the phone sounds perfect, but they always make 1 step ahead from other phone and make it VERY PERFECT!! Why i love Xperia? (since Xperia X10pro) because they have own signature model for every type of their phone, and NO GIMMICK!! like notch, punch hole, under display camera, or teardrop. Sony always being Sony.

Looks like Sony is back with a bang with the Xperia IV going from strength to strength since the Xperia 1 with all the tons of features including the latest music pro and the world's first continuous OIS variable telephoto lens and everything that's packed in 8.2mm slim and 185g light weight design while still keeping all the essentials 3.5mm jack, hybrid sim with SD card option and a 5000 mah battery
This is certainly the best Sony Xperia yet.
Only sad thing is that's it's not going to be launched in India.

But why doesn't the picture quality ever match their competitors when their competitors are using Sony hardware? That's the only thing I get bothered about. I'll be buying Sony from here on out since I got my xz2, but I could never understand the picture quality deficiency/
@@equest943 I have used quite few Sony phones myself and couple of which i had posted their review. When it comes to image quality than the auto mode it's the manual mode where the quality is better and for a new user it takes a little time to get used to but once you get used to you will definitely enjoy it. But sure in the past HDR was less compared to that times competition but now it's improved and slowly catching up to the competition.

Brilliant product! Well done, Sony! The only thing missing is bringing back the incredible glossy purple colour from the original Xperia 1. The ii, iii, and now iv have all shared the same dull colours. Maybe I'll hold off upgrading for 1 more year - love the original Xperia 1 purple so much, can't let it go.

Finally, they've upgraded the Front Camera to 12mp now. I've got the 1 III and I can say that I hate how bad the front camera is compared to the other brand.
Is the 1 IV worth it for an upgrade from the 1 III or not, I'll wait for the gadget reviewer to hear their thoughts about this new Xperia 😁
Honestly i would i have a 5ii and the only thing i don't like about it is the front camera everything else is near perfection
@@novadasavage i got the 5ii too and i feel about the same. hardware wise almost perfect. software wise still a lot to do to compete with samsung iphone and google. most camera usability like making videos and be able to switch between lenses even selfie camere while recording is a nice feature for social media. and software support hopefully someday to 5 years. sony phones are quality and dont break quick so give us the software support too and then they will beat iphone and google :D

i got mine the 1 ii and 10 ii, both can be upgraded to android 12 surprisingly, still going strong though, i might switch to 1 iv if there's a chance

Why i love Xperia? (since Xperia X10pro) because they have own signature model for every type of their phone, and NO GIMMICK!! like notch, punch hole, under display camera, or teardrop. Sony always being Sony.

Seamless zoom, but 16mm to 85mm as digital zoom? I don't really understand this.
Edited: Seems like 85mm to 125mm is optically done. That's great!
Before you had to switch between lenses for zoom change. Now you can zoom all the way from 16mm to 125mm without it .
@@amllemans True. I believe at 16mm, 24mm and 85m it is using the optical sensor, but in-between it is digitally done.
