Strongly disagree, the traditional wedge cut is superior. The long slice cut into smaller slices means that the edges get more frosting than the middle parts. The V cut ensures an even distribution of all contents for all slices. If the cake's consistency makes it hard to cut thin slices, that other method would probably be difficult to execute too.
Put a slice of bread on any part of the cake that’s exposed and secure with a toothpick! It keeps it fresh for days! And if you are displaying your cake turn the cake to the uncut side to keep the appearance of a fresh cake!
Mashing two halves of a frosted cake together looks easy when animated, but that’s not how it’s gonna go in practice irl, as lovely as the idea sounds.
Agreed. Sounds like the esteemed Mr. Galton, 2:15 never baked a cake or had to be in charge of pushing those pieces together. That's an issue that might require input from an engineer.
I run the knife under some hot water making the knife a bit hot and it makes the cut go through a lot smoother. Same with running hot water on a ice cream scooper to make it easier to scoop smoothly
@@genxx2724 A girl cut a cake like this at her bday party recently. Honestly the cake tasted kinda weird (I had cake from this bakery before so it's not the bakery). I could go into long details about it, but keeping it short.. don't do this to you guests.
If you slice the cake in the center twice and fly the outside half together it will preserve the moisture in the cake slide them together it fills the air off good grief and I am not Charlie Brown but I'm a brown guy haha
What they do not tell you is if you cut your cake like this (from the center) and put both ends together to keep it from drying out, the cake will melt and fall apart at room temperature. It is better to cut it in triangle shape if you plan on leaving it out.
Best way to keep the cake fresh.... eat it same day you baked it ! BUT... you cannot EAT THE CAKE and HAVE IT TOO! And that's the CORRECT way of the quote.... Because it is possible TO HAVE THE CAKE and THEN EAT IT TOO!
I think it means the same thing either way, because it’s an action being considered, not already done. If you keep it, you don’t enjoy the eating; and if you eat it, you don’t have it anymore. It’s like saying you can’t save your money and spend it, too. Doesn’t matter which way it’s stated. I never understood the expression. Recently I put my embarrassment aside and someone explained it.

I would feel embarrassed to serve those tiny slices of cake to my guests 😕
Agreed !
Yet.... you could use the method and just make the portions larger to your preference. How is that not obvious?
jesus just cut it bigger wtf hahshahshahahahs
Do you only allow one slice per person? They can have more than one slice. That’s explained in the video.
If they want more they can just come back for seconds.
After this video I still don’t know how to cut a cake lol
I once cut a cake like this and people went ballistic.
But how did the slices turn out?

This Chanel makes me hungry🤤
The cutting board method is cool, but those slices are too small in my opinion
I think I like that cut cutting board method I am going to try that tomorrow. 🤔
How do I get that first middle slice out without dropping it?
3:30 Wrapping the cake in rubber band is pretty disgusting tho.
And also you need one hell of a hard cake for that to work, with normal cakes the rubber band would just push into the cake
People won't always get the border then. With Rührteig this part is pretty neat.
This is nothing new caterers have been doing this for years ,at weddings, anniversary parties anywhere there’s a large or even a small cake.😊
I've been doing everything correctly my entire life.
Most ridiculous thing I've seen in a long time.

Just use bakers or butchers twine in place of dental floss
