Absolutely, the owner would've been proud to see this classic gem get the o'l Chemical Guys spa treatment. Unfortunately we weren't able to put her through all the phases of the detailing process, but we were able to shine her up really nicely. The stingray left a very long lasting impression on all of us. The Corvette made the old owner very happy, and she will give someone else insurmountable joy. Stay tuned for more great vids, we've got a new video launching tomorrow and you won't want to miss it. C.G. Alex -
Hi, we definitely took some creative license with the title of this video, obviously this car is pretty well taken care of, and it's good working condition since the owner was able to drive it into the detail garage. This car may not be the word for word definition of a barn find, but it's a great car, and this was an equally great video. Stay tuned, we've got some truly awesome videos yet to be released. C.G Alex -
can you make a video with and actual dirty car i like chemical guys i don't use anything else but can we start seeing real dirty cars in your videos please ....thank you
Wow chemguys it looks amazing! I’m a Chevy guy through and through. The car was well taken care of before you guys became the new owners. I’m glad it’s you guys that are looking after it cause it’s going to be around longer now for everyone to enjoy. Take care guys. Sincerely your number one fan. Matthew
The car is one of a kind, and the story attached to it is quite heart breaking considering the owner died young for his age. At the end of the day a car is just a car, yet the car has more value when you think about the person who drive it. To someone, it will always be "that" person's car. Stay tuned, we've got more great videos on the way. C.G. Alex -
You're right Michael. Nick paints a pretty picture, his words dance around the canvas like a painter's brush spreading colorful phrases as he describes all the distinguishing features of this timeless 1976 Corvette Stingray. Nick's voice is like a mixture of Jeff Goldbloom and Kevin Spacey from the Negotiator. Stay tuned Michael, we've got two more fun and inforamitve videos launching this week. C.G. Alex -
Hi Daniel, as we stated earlier in another comment, we had a very specific definition in mind when said barn find, not in the literal sense by any means. The definition of a barn find is a classic car or motorcycle that has been discovered, often in derelict condition. The term comes from their tendency to be found in places "such as" barns, sheds, carports and outbuildings where they have been stored for many years. We should have been even more specific but thank you for tuning in and we look forward to seeing you Wednesday for the launch of our new video!
"Hey guys, Nick here what we have today is a 1976 fully restored Mint Condition Corvette that I'm going to clean up and detail for you - thanks for watching" LOL! beautiful car btw😃
Hi there, thanks for watching, actually it only takes two to three towels, mostly because you need to buff after wiping down the surface. Fifty towels feels like forty seven too many.
Thanks buddy, this was a very fun car to work on, and as always the film crew always puts together some really awesome edits. Stay tuned buddy, we've got more great videos headed your way!! C.G. Alex -
You've been waiting patiently, and that time is drawing near. Can you feel it....the excitement of a new video being released today!!! It should be something spectacular. I can't wait myself, I wonder which it will be?
That's the spirit buddy! We detailers are a unique few, and we share the same passion for detailing. I love working on my car too, except I will admit that I do get lazy sometimes. My dad's car is really dusty inside and out, I think that will be my next project. C.G. Alex-
Hey MrSlickmonster6973, we haven't used the California duster, seems like it could be convenient. The Corvette is amazing and deserves to be well maintained to keep up that beautiful orange shine. C.G. Alex -
Barn find or not this is one sweet Corvette, and Nick did a great job cleaning the paint, restoring the shine, and detailing the wheels. The old stingrays are a timeless classic, and they will always be viewed as a staple of classic 1970's American muscle. It was definitely a pleasure to see this four wheeled beast in the detail garage, perhaps one of the most memorable details yet. C.G. Alex -
I have a question and you have to reply to it. First does waxes and sealant prevent swirls. Also secondly if you let the wax or sealant dry on the paint longer does that affect the durability. PLEASE REPLY
Heeeey good morning to everyone at chemical guys. That car is extremely well taken care of! The previous owner probably loved that car to death I know I would’ve. So sad to hear how you all became the owner of the vehicle but their legacy will live on in the car !
Hey there Xander, that's a great question. EcoSmart is a waterless wash that contains carnauba wax which helps to lubricate the surface, and helps to remove abrasive stains without scratching. Ecosmart is an alternative to using a pressure washer with a foam cannon or a garden hose with a foam blaster. A quick detail spray is like a waterless wash, except it's only meant to be used in between washes to clean up light messes like dust, dirt, bird droppings, or anything that lands on the paint. I often use a quick detail spray to clean my windows, or the hood and trunk to remove bug droppings, sap, or other environmental contaminants. Stay tuned for more great videos that are on the way!. C.G. Alex -
Hello, great video. Any recommendations on detailing imperfections out of single stage enamel paint? I have an equally clean 1969 barn find mercedes that has dark enamel paint, no clear coat. I've been wondering what to use to tackle it. From my experience with enamel paint it's hard to keep it from oxidizing from the use of foam. The paint has dust but a few deeper areas of water marks and a few old bird dropping shadows in on the roof. I'd like to seal it once I get all the imperfections out. I just don't wanna mess it up, as it's really nice. Anyone have some recommendations? Thanks
Hey there buddy, after conferring with Nick on this, we felt that its best to use an orange pad with V36 or a microfiber pad to remove the enamel paint, from Nick's understanding enamel paint is very tough to polish. Like you mentioned below, you definitely want to protect the paint after it's been polished with a reliable sealant like Jet Seal. Be sure to give the car a thorough cleaning, and clay the paint to remove any contaminants. A dual action polisher would be the best tool for the job because you don't want to burn that classic paint. You could always send pictures to our Facebook account, Nick responds to everyone in case you get stuck and you have more questions. C.G. Alex - ua-cam.com/video/TZFEzAaz0ZA/v-deo.html
It is indeed, there's something very aesthetically pleasing about Stingrays, it makes me think of Dazed and Confused, and That 70's show. The color of this vette is very striking especially when you see it up close after all that dust has been removed. I've always coveted this Corvette, I pictured myself driving it when I was a kid. Stay tuned Rob, a new video will be released tomorrow. C.G. Alex -
U should have went over the car with Eco-Smart first then went back with Hybrid V7..To me Hybrid V7 is more of a spray sealent and a little expensive..Eco-Smart is also a waterless wash and wax..I need to order me some Eco-Smart and the Synthetic quik detailed for my detailing business..
Hey there, thanks for being a loyal viewer. Hybrid V07 cannot be technically referred to as a spray sealant because the sealant in this product wouldn't last past a few weeks. Hybrd V07 is meant to be used on the go, or in your spare time in between washes for cleaning lighter messes. We've used Hybrid V7 on many cars, and it always gets the job done. Chemical Guys agrees with you on using EcoSmart because EcoSMart is a versatile waterless wash system that can be used on virtually any paint surface. Really it boils down to your preference, there is really no right or wrong answer here. Stay tuned buddy, a new video is launching today it should prove to be one of the best ones yet!! C.G. Alex -
We really wanted to wash it but as Nick states from 5:08 to 5:17, we don't know how well the seals are because it's pretty old and he didn't want to cause any leakage. Thanks for tuning and we'll see you Wednesday for our newest video!
Smart man...Avoided the Pressure Washer. Guaranteed seals are old, hard and dry. No Bueno. I might have just rinsed it with gentle stream of free flowing water from hose, dried while still wet with Ecosmart and then the V7. Bummer, it looked to have some water spots? If ones careful, can really make old 'single stage' paint look bitch'n!
Very true, I think you're accurate with your assessment, we wanted to foam this car because we thought it would look stellar afterwards, unfortunately the condition of the seals wasn't certain, and we couldn't possibly expose the metal to water for fear of rust. For it's age, and how much it was used, the condition of the car was really good. We're glad you liked this video, We've got another video launching tomorrow and you won't want to miss it. C.G. Alex -
Hi there, yes absolutely. You should always clean any piece of the vehicle you're about to work on before applying a polish, wax, sealant, glaze or trim dressing. I think Nick chose to skip the cleaning due to the fact that the polish has some built in wax that would remove any dust, oxidation, water spots etc.. Stay tuned buddy, we have more great videos coming your way! C.G. Alex -
@abuhamza1970 Unfortunately we couldn't foam this beautiful classic orange Corvette because the seals could be perforated. It was in Nicks's best judgement to use a quick detail spray to avoid rusting the metal, and ultimately enraging the new owner. You gotta admit that this car was extremely dusty, and the wheels looked forgotten. Nick used his detailing prowess to get this vette looking tip top. Stay tuned, we've got more great videos coming your way. C.G. Alex -
Hey Joey, thanks for watching. The paint on the vette was in really good condition, and the owner didn't want us to polish it. The Corvette was bundled away inside a garage and it was hardly driven. Although it would've nice to see the results of a paint correction on that pumpkin orange, a cleaning with a quick detail spray was what the doctor ordered. Given the condition of the paint, a light polishing, or even a cleaner wax would've been appropriate to service the paint. Stay tuned Joey, we've got more great videos launching this week. C.G. Alex -
I mean I didn't think spaying a car with quick detail was detailing a car? This sort of stuff makes actual detailers business names get lost in a sea of other "detailers" that just use spray wax
A detail is when you go above and beyond a typical car wash, like prepping the car for the application of waxes, doing the tires, cleaning the interior, polishing wheels, or cleaning exhausts. You could constitute a "wash" by just hosing your car and taking a body to dry it. Detail are more fine tuned, and you're using special tools to avoid scratching everything. In normal washes, you don't use a clay bar, or special applicators, wheel brushes etc... Lastly car washes don't incorporate paint correction, headlight restoration, engine bay cleaning, or the application of trim dressings. Detailing is an all encompassing deep cleaning of your vehicle. Some differences are subtle, others are more evident. C.G. Alex -
Why even bother with the tires on a car that sat for years. Tires develop flat spots and rot over time, just replace them. Better to be safe than sorry.
Hi Peaches, it's truly sad but it happens. Life is a precious thing, and it shouldn't be wasted. I'm sure the owner of the car would've wanted someone to appreciate and take care of this awesome Corvette. The car will be treasured for a long time, and the new owner will give the car a good home. Stay tuned Peaches, we've got a great new video coming out Wednesday and Friday. C.G. Alex -
Nicely done. Would’ve been cool to see it get a full wash and restoration though but I’m sure the previous owner is smiling down from heaven
Absolutely, the owner would've been proud to see this classic gem get the o'l Chemical Guys spa treatment. Unfortunately we weren't able to put her through all the phases of the detailing process, but we were able to shine her up really nicely. by barn find standards this is showroom condition, usually they got rust, in need of a respray and pieces are missing
Hi, we definitely took some creative license with the title of this video, obviously this car is pretty well taken care of, and it's good working condition since the owner was able to drive it into the detail garage. That's the nicest thing I've personally seen you guys clean up yet!!
The car is one of a kind, and the story attached to it is quite heart breaking considering the owner died young for his age. Nick, you're like the Bob Ross of car detailing with some of the ways you describe what you're doing. It's great! Nice job on this Stingray.
You're right Michael. Who else is like JUST TAKE THE CAR OUTSIDE AND SNOW FOAM IT!!!!!
Well come home Nick. Hope you guys have a great time at SEMA. I missed you guys when I went into the shop on Saturday. Great video.
Hey Ronald! It's too bad we missed you. Thanks for stopping by and for tuning in for today's video!

"Barn find" lol

Loving the Zoolander reference!
Corvette baby......magnificent!!
This corvette was a beaut!
Chemical Guys Indeed!
This was a really special Corvette, very one of a kind.

You must go through 50 towels with that water free wash

Very cool video editing and cool car
Really shinny and sleek

its great detailing job as usual
Rest in peace Corvette Owner. ❤️🙏

What's the difference between a quick detailer spray and your Ecosmart ?

Song at 2:30? Greetings from Finland.
Do a filthy interior detail
Hi Eden, we'll get one filmed as soon as the right car comes in, so far the interiors have been spotless.
Love the video, but I have to watch the video at .75 speed because you say your words so fast.
What no foam man?!
I feel cheated :-(

Scrub tires with hay?
Corn husks actually
Should have done a buff and polish on it.

Aww what a shame.
We're with you, it was at the behest of the owner that we didn't polish for fear of damaging the single stage paint.

How would you define detailing a car?
