Completely beautiful is Hallenberg. Softly pensive, reflecting, as though softly thinking. outstandingly smooth and even sound; comforting w/ every note. voice of gold.
I love all the voices, and this was my first favourite Handel Aria. But I think there is a something of depth or similar that is more audible in Valer Sabadus' version so it may get a better grasp of Handel.
WTF why are there no comments? Anyway, who sings the best? Anne Hallenberg!!!, who i think is one of the best "Singers" at the moment and blessed with the RNG of a " Great voice". Jaroussky is an " Ornamentation-Fineliner". Sabadus is this new generation of CTs who found a way to compete with women, concerning "smoothness" of voice ( though some do not like the "nasal sound" of it.) They are all able to sing this aria ( Handel i love you!), ... that is more than you get sometimes for your money.
Was watching an opera by Vivaldi called Dorilla in Tempe the other day on You Tube and this aria appears in that opera as well -same words but to a different but very similar melody. Baroque composers often did that sort of thing - using basically the same tune but "improving" and embellishing it - Handel did the same thing with the famous "Ombra mai fu" from Xerxes which appeared previously in an opera by Bononcini and before that in an opera by Cavalli.
In this case, for me it is impossible to say that any one is BETTER than the others, it comes down to personal preference. I love the sound of Valer Sabadus' voice, and so cast my vote for him. I find myself wondering how Andreas Scholl would sound in this lineup, as he is another favorite of mine.
The best singer in ”Mi lusinga...”? Easy. 1. Della Jones, with Richard Hickox 2. Ann Murray, with Charles Mackerras 3. Vesselina Kasarova, with Alan Curtis
My apologies to everyone! I accidentally set the video specification to "hold all comments for review" by mistake, so that's why your comments weren't yet visible. I have approved everyone's comments and switched the default setting. Yeah, I was wondering why there weren't any comments yet! :)
I have been reading all the comments, has no one here heard Susan Graham's rendition of this, light years better, Alcina recorded with Les Arts Florissants 1990.
The natural voice of a mezzo cannot be compared to the falsetto voice from the countertenor. Their voices are in different categories. Natural voice of the soprano has better colors and more dynamic range. I like countertenors too, but i’m very surprissed with the results off Philippe Jarousky. He has very loyal fans. Hallenberg Jaroussky Sabadus
IMO Valer is spot-on in certain respects (although there's a little too much scooping). His dotted rhythms are ideal: there's impulse, buoyancy & effortlessness. His rendition is also a bit less square than the others, & it's consistent w/ Handel's subtle stretching of the 6/8 meter.
I like Ann Hallenberg and Valer Sabadus here. When I started to listen to the music of the countratenors a few years ago, I liked P.Jaroussky very much. I would like to know the name of this composition in English; does it belong to the thematic of Easter? Well, looking at those title words, I doubt!
My tender passion bewitches me with the sight of my beloved. Yet how can I be sure? I must be wary of deceiving myself for sheer love. But should she prove to be the woman I have adored, if I abandon her I would be faithless, ungrateful cruel and treacherous.
There is (or used to be) a better rendering by P.J. on You Tube--an actual recital video. Of the three performances here, Valer, the slight scooping aside, is probably closer to what Handel intended; he has the affect, character & dramatic situation better in hand. By minimizing the important consonant "M" in the first phrase A.H. takes some of the punch from Handel's inspired word setting. P.J. is not helped by his instr. ensemble & I've heard him sing Italian better.
Philippe Jaroussky, incomparable!
Handel's breathtaking eloquence gets my vote.
Philippe Jaroussky!

Thank you for sharing. For me, the podium is this:
Ann: Bronze medal.
Valer: Silver medal.
Philippe: Gold medal and laurel wreath.
Philippe Jaroussky !!!!!❤️
Jsroussky's voice is clean, soft, pure, ANGELIC!
clean? mostly not.
Ann Hallenberg.
Her silvery mezzo-soprano is perfect for this aria.
Jaroussky’s voice is so special that doesn’t admit comparisons, in my humble opinion...
Exquisite musical jewel and some of the best voices of the baroque. Many thanks, I enjoyed it a lot.

Valer Sabadus promet de belles suites à 35 ans!!
Infinite thanks for your awesome channel.
The pleasure and the privilege is mine.
Nothing is as flattering as affection and its celebration. How sweet! Thank you again, dear B and B.

The answer is Sarah Connolly!

Thx for information about arias of Cavalli and Handel
Jaroussky the best, no doubt.
Sabadus. He signs quite a personal version compared to the previous 2.
the voice of Jaroussky doesn´t belong to human, but belongs to the God.
Unfortunately for you, Jaroussky´s voice does belong to human. God has nothing to say...
Jaroussky ❤
Philippe Jaroussky sans aucun doute !
Philippe Jaroussky. He is eternal.
Valer piękny głęboki głos ,objawienie
Each and every one gives a lovely performance, with such different kinds of voices it would be unfair to choose one over the other.
Maravilloso.
All are wonderful
Valer Sabadus

Valer Sabadus singt die hohen Lagen einfach göttlich!!
Like all of them, but for this aria I prefere Ann Hallenberg!
The best singer in ”Mi lusinga...”?
Easy.
1. Della Jones, with Richard Hickox
2. Ann Murray, with Charles Mackerras
3. Vesselina Kasarova, with Alan Curtis
you forgot Teresa Berganza
Sin duda, Philippe Jaroussky!

Polisch... KOCHANE TRZY ANIOŁY... ANN, PHILIPPE I VALER!...
sarah connolly
Ann, valer, then pj
My vote is: Maite Beaumont
Philippe pour sa voix claire
Sarah Connolly should be included in this list!
please not...
How about Fritz Wunderlich, Teresa Berganza ( in 1962 as very young singer), Vesselina Kaserova ( very deep voice), Maite Beaumont??
I have been reading all the comments, has no one here heard Susan Graham's rendition of this, light years better, Alcina recorded with Les Arts Florissants 1990.

Ann always cant compare a real voice with a fake one
Jarrutzky for sure not!
Nobody. It is not belcanto, it is nasal awfull voices of moderm scholl out of true tune
