They should not be compared. Each performer has their own unique style, and all I can do is bow to each one's talent. Personally, I find Alex's interpretation to be closest to my heart. Thank you for allowing us to listen to all of them.
For me the only one who just was born for Vivaldi's music is incredible Sara Mingardo! Her Cum dederit is just out of this world. It's like you're actually in the heavens. Her voice is so smooth and warm and powerful and emotional too. I just have no words to explain my feelings when i listen her. Of course, there are more beautiful performances of this song (aria? Sorry, i'm not really into classical music terms) but Mingardo's version is number one for me ever!
It is funny that in the comments a lot of people choose Andreas Scholl when he is not in this video. Right, Gerard Lesne isnt here either, does it make sense for me to say that Gerard Lesnes version is thr best? Guys, the purpose of the video is not for you to say who is your favourite singer, but to compare those ones that you have here. This way we honour the person who has done a magnific research and work to bring this kind of video for us. Very good job, thanks so much!
I appreciate your comment. I do want to mention that in this particular case, I did want to feature Andreas Scholl's recording but ran into some issues and couldn't include it. Also, this habit of some mentioning singers/performances not included in my video is what I now consider to be a sort of "write-in vote" too. What I don't particularly care for is when someone issues a blanket dismissal of all of the singers/performances I have selected because it isn't "their" favorite or (even worse) they are deeply prejudiced against countertenors.
Merci .. c trop beau!
My three favorites are Tim Mead, Lea Desandre and Philippe Jaroussky. The slower tempo taken by Tim Mead makes his the most tragic. Desandre is singing in the meat of her voice which gives a beautiful richness to her smooth musical performance. Jaroussky also does a wonderful job and his voice has a lovely sweetness to it.
Sandrine Piau nailed it. Her voice has a power, complexity and resonance that pierces the heart like no other voice I have ever heard. These guys are all great but they sing by the book. Sandrine has an instinct for phrasing and modulation that is just astonishing and deeply moving.
Alex Potter for me too. I keep watching his Copenhagen video. Tim Mead and Lea Desandre were also very moving to me but not quite as spacious or ghostly as Potter.
Where are Andreas Scholl, and Aloïs Mühlbacher? IMHO, both of them prevail or prevailed over the outstanding artists on the list. I do not know Sandrine Piau's version. Dmitry Siinkovsky's would be in the pack. Here, Philippe Jaroussky's and Damien Guillon's are my favorite renditions (power and subtleness, respectively). Thank you for letting us compare.
I'm not qualified to speak in technical terms about any of these performers. From a personal preference point of view I would have to say the strength and ethereal quality of Tim Mead's voice would get my vote. Andreas Scholl would be another personal favourite.
Wonderful singers all. I won't choose "the best." I personally love Jaroussky. His clean pure voice is other-worldly and always excellent in control and phrasing. I was surprised by Potter's recording; so beautifully sung. Guillon was also excellent. (I prefer a countertenor aria to be sung by a countertenor). Thank you so much for posting these outstanding musicians! ❤
For some reason I like Lucille Richardot the best. Something about her androgynous yet misty colored voice makes make me melt. As if everything suddenly has a deeper meaning than usual.
Jaroussky is the best in this selection, he’s got perfect control of his breathing (silent and efficient), his articulation of sounds is accurate and his ornaments neither too present nor weak. But I agree with the community: Andreas Scholl rules the game for this tune 😍, he should be on the list!
In my opinion the best performer of this masterpiece is Sara Minfardo and only Sara Mingardo (who traditionaly is not presented here). But I should say that every single singer shows really individual and touching interpretation. All in all Tim Mead sounds the most convincing for me.
If you told me that Vivaldi had written this piece especially for Andreas Scholl, I would not be surprised, in spite of knowing about the limits of time and space.
LIBERA feat. Dominik Clarke as soloist! The performance is a masterpiece. Everyone of these performers should go listen to Dominik Clarke. BTW, he is only a kid. I would say of all the performers in this clip I prefer Jaroussky & DeSandre over the rest. Search for LIBERA "Cum Dederit". You will not be disappointed.
Lucile Richardot brings a freedom of interpretation that I think is loyal to the way the music would have been performed when written. Idk how to describe it but she sounds similar to the most dramatic counter tenors, really stunning as a contralto
Andreas Scholl sings it heavenly in my opinion.
Absolutely!
Came here to say just that.
Tout à fait d accord ….
I do agree with you!
Andreas Scholl 😊
.
The one and only .
They should not be compared. Each performer has their own unique style, and all I can do is bow to each one's talent.
Personally, I find Alex's interpretation to be closest to my heart. Thank you for allowing us to listen to all of them.
everbody is ...the best.

The point is 'Cum dederit' is an astonishing creation🌹
Tim Mead absolutely! The best countertenor in this selection, perfection. 😊
Philippe Jaroussky, by a clear mile and a half. Such purity of tone, combined with perfect control and minimal ornamentation - sublime.
Alex Potter is my new Favourite. For decades it was James Bowman.
I still prefer Bowman's version, maybe I'm just so used to it... hard to know, but he's intensity is in my opinion unique.
@@lucianogarbati7077potter and bowman have a similar voice.
Love both
Andreas Scholl❤
.
of course ❣

Absolutely: Philippe Jaroussky
Phillipe Jaroussky is sublime 🦋🦋🦋🇨🇦
No doubt Philippe Jaroussky!! His radiant timbre surpasses any other male high voices.
Philippe Jaroussky - forever
Thank you very much for allowing me to listen this music.
All of them are the best.
I think it is Tim Mead. I have just listen to it a minute ago, I think it is him. My mistake, for miss spelling Mead's name, but now I know it is him
Alex potter. Sings on air. So gorgeous- that said the talent here is phenomenal - Lea next
I prefer in the voice of Tim Mead. Beautiful voice! Great interpreter.
Mr. Jaroussky’s rendition hits my soul deeper.

Andreas Scholl is the best.
Alex Potter.
Tim Mead. Absolutely!
I just heard the Scholl Version after reading posts about it. And I have to admit, it is mind-blowing!
Tim Meade, Alex Potter, Lea Desandre. I love that the men seem to pick up the timbre of the instruments and Tim Meade has incredible breath control.
The male voices are clearly the best here. Guillon's, Mead's and Jaroussky's are verging on the sublime. Thank you for posting this.
They are all excellent in their own unique way. I would gladly listen to any of them.
wow! Tim Mead is incredible
it seems he performs very good each part of the aria
instead of others
Andrea Scholl❤ perfection!
Tim Mead incontestablement.
Alex Potter for me. His voice sounds similair too James Bowman my favourite for decades
Tim Meade
For me, the best is Tim Mead!
My three favorites are Tim Mead, Lea Desandre and Philippe Jaroussky. The slower tempo taken by Tim Mead makes his the most tragic. Juste sublime
Départager est impossible !
Tous particulier et interprètes incroyables.
Sandrine Piau nailed it. Her voice has a power, complexity and resonance that pierces the heart like no other voice I have ever heard. These guys are all great but they sing by the book. Sandrine has an instinct for phrasing and modulation that is just astonishing and deeply moving.

Oh my God!🌹 Thanks to all and Bravo! 👍❤👏👏👏❤
Mmmm, Andreas Scholl, his rendition is impeccable.
The winner is...... Antonio Vivaldi the greatest ❤
without a point of a doubt : Jaroussky!
S.Mingardo et S Piau😍😍
They are all beautiful.
Potter, Jaroussky, Mead. All brilliant for different reasons.
Lea and Jaroussky
What the heck did you say

Alex potter is by far the best for me.
Lea's interpretation pierced my heart like an arrow. Phenomenal nuances.
Tim Mead and Andreas Scholl
Philippe Jaroussky! :)
Tim Mead ,no doubt !!!
Lea Desandre brings a little lightness to the difficult to bear, solemn music.
Andreas Scholl.
Desandre for clarity Mead for emotion
Jaroussky's legendary interpretation is beyond words. ❤️🔥
Also loved Lea's version
I believe Alex Potter has the most expressive voice as a countertenor.
The best is Scholl. The rest are just great.
All of them are outstanding!
But my absolute favourite is Philipp Jaroussky- his voice is extraordinary
Alex Potter’s voice is divine, angelic and godly… i got the chills…
Philippe Jaroussky and Lea Desandre if I could pick 2 but their all really wonderful
For some reason I like Lucille Richardot the best. Something about her androgynous yet misty colored voice makes make me melt. As if everything suddenly has a deeper meaning than usual.
Philippe Jaroussky
They r all phenomenal
Alex Potter!
Andreas Scholl followed by Alex Potter equally with Tim Mead :)
Tim Mead without any doubt 100%
Jaroussky is the best in this selection, he’s got perfect control of his breathing (silent and efficient), his articulation of sounds is accurate and his ornaments neither too present nor weak.
But I agree with the community: Andreas Scholl rules the game for this tune 😍, he should be on the list!
In my opinion there is no one the best. I like all
His elegance, his warmth,
his understanding and
perfect technique will never
be reached by anyone else . . . ♡
Lea was far ahead, and then Philippe…oh my goodness! Both beautiful!
Andreas Scholl, Sara Mingardo and Damien Guillon.
Sara Mingardo
In my opinion the best performer of this masterpiece is Sara Minfardo and only Sara Mingardo (who traditionaly is not presented here). But I should say that every single singer shows really individual and touching interpretation. All in all Tim Mead sounds the most convincing for me.
This is great. Thank you very much for posting this.
Easily Alex Potter - he sings it so naturally, like he's spontaneously speaking for himself
Das ist wunderbar....❣
Tim Mead
If you told me that Vivaldi had written this piece especially for Andreas Scholl, I would not be surprised, in spite of knowing about the limits of time and space.
LIBERA feat. Dominik Clarke as soloist! The performance is a masterpiece. Everyone of these performers should go listen to Dominik Clarke. BTW, he is only a kid. Jaroussky 👍
Two different questions. Which one is best - not easily able to be answered objectively. Which one do you prefer - much more straightforward.
Andreas Scholl
Potter for sure!
Lucile Richardot brings a freedom of interpretation that I think is loyal to the way the music would have been performed when written. Idk how to describe it but she sounds similar to the most dramatic counter tenors, really stunning as a contralto
Lea Desandre и Philippe Jaroussky
Alex Potter❤
Mingardo Alessandrini, Carlos Mena :)
All amazing, nothing more than a fraction of a percent in it between anyone. All winners for me.
Ninguno de ellos. Andreas Scholl. La mejor sin duda.
Agreed!
.
100 %
Tim Mead: no contest
Philippe Jaroussky - best by far!
