Here I break down step by step exactly how I made $66 per hour detailing this black truck IN THE SUN, and how this strategy is actually NOT complicated! The simplest & most profitable detailing strategy is one that anyone can do with a little focused attention in certain areas. Auto detailing businesses often rob themselves of profits that they simply don't have to, and in this video I take a deep dive into avoiding that exactly!

The stock market is surely a lucrative way to invest, whether you want high growth, leverage, stable income, or something in between. It’s possible to make a consistent $1,000 every month from the stock market.
Anyone could easily double a thousand dollars in the stock market by simply having the right stocks but it’s no easy feat.
Not everyone makes it big in the market today.
@@ethansmith2499 if you invest enough money and know how to deploy your cash then consistent profits is attainable.
The stock market has something to offer for every investor
There too much risks involved, I tried stock trading and lost a lot of money, I haven’t been able to bounce back from that.
So are you technically a mobile detailer? This video was a lot of help. I’ve been wanting to start my own detail business but idk where to start. My communication skills are highly lacking
Me too but my friend that I detail with somehow gets the customers happy. I got lucky
Same. I enjoy detailing my vehicles but at times I don't feel like I'm doing it Corrrctly, been watching detail videos for a minute.
I have literally detailed the 3 cars I've owned maybe 4 times in my full 9 years of owning vehicles.
Yet, I find myself watching a 22 minute video about detailing tips and tricks.
I've been thinking about starting a detailing buisness too like 24/7 for the past week
Do it!
Have you started ? I been thinking about it for 5 years. Just got fired and bought lots of equipment today
@@Area559Duh have you find a way to advertise?
Luke. I hope you never stop making videos. I've built my business by watching you through the years. Still learning every day. Thanks for everything!
Thank you so much! That means a ton to hear! No end in sight for me!
Great video, i would like to address one thing though, having been in business for over 16 years, if wanting to build a company the 1000 per week cannot be looked at as a whole 1000 per week factoring in expenses as well as fed and/or state taxes, and most importantly insurance. Cash side hustle, great .
This video is PURE GOLD. Excellent information and teaching!
Thanks for the information. I'm starting my own mobile detail and this was very helpful!
Eyy great video. Just a beginner just did 2 cars this last week. And charged 200 for doing full exterior with just taking out some scratches. But this is a really great idea for trying to build regular customers
When at the hand blaster for the power washer be more efficient quicker easier for doing much of that stuff instead of the wind? Especially under the wheel wells
Your the best! Your so informational the tips I get from your videos I appreciate so much. I'm a fellow Christian as you are. I'm just starting out and not much money to start but doing what I can. Currently I have to see a surgeon July 8th for my wrist so detailing using one arm for most all of it is a pain but I make due. I wish I could just sit down and "pick your brain". I just feel a little overwhelmed at times in just starting out. Thank you for your time and information in your videos brother!
Wow! Im sorry to hear that man! That sounds really difficult! I am glad that the videos are of help to you! Really encouraging to hear, thanks for letting me know!
Wish I could like this video 1000X! Can’t wait for the upcoming webinar bro 👍 much respect from Vancouver 🇨🇦
Hey there, I am loving your content. Please keep the vids coming. My question is, are you running your detailing business from your house? If so, I'd assume that fact can certainly keep your pricing low compared to a Detail Shop that resides in an Industrial Complex that has to have high overhead to manage. I'm just wondering if we're comparing apples to apples when you're talking about money. I can't operate a Detail Business from my home garage where I live due to local bylaws and zoning. Thanks again for your content Luke.
as being a detail manager from a dealership I handle rentals, body shop, sales and service. I used to do side work. but alls I ever would get is hey can you remove this scratch and this one blah blah blah and people dont understand paint correction takes time so its gona cost u more. pretty much one of the reasons why I stopped doing it.
Awesome work bro. That tn tag caught my eye I do details on the side out of hamilton county!
Do you consider getting touch up paint for your good clients?
are you doing clay bar to the headlights and glass?
I feel this though i get on avg 250 a day its certainly possible
In. LA California saturated Latinos doing mobile car detailing, a lot of competition really gotta hustle to get people to pay top $$$ get their carwash & detailed. Maybe in Tennessee there's not much competition.
Bro you’re a fucking pro . I use to work at a car wash but didn’t take it serious. Keep up the good work ...
I like how you're being laid back when washing the truck.
Thanks!
mobile detail business. Can you do it on your own without anybody but yourself? And is it still profitable?
Why do you apply the foam canon first, rinse it and then another pass the wash mitt instead of using the wash mitt while the foam is on the truck? Nice videos bro
I do that sometimes, and other times I use the more traditional two bucket method, just depends on the situation. A lot of times applying with a foam cannon and simply washing the mitt in between panels can be quicker so I understand the appeal
Do you used the customers water or you provide your own?
If you switch from soap to onr you could he closer to 100 per hour labor rate.
Hahaha true, I love ONR in some cases, it just depends on what I am doing
Hey, I’m 15 years old and I have been detailing for 2 years. What I’ve found is that people don’t trust my info, and they don’t trust me with their cars because of my age. But when I am done I usually get a big tip because people aren’t expecting that good of a Job from a teen. Do you have any recommendations for how to show new clients that I do this professionally and to trust me with their car?
You should consider building a website, it would show professionalism and make it seem more official. Find someone who's good at photography to take some nice before/after photos, maybe you could make an instagram account and post them there too. Reach out to past clients/ask new ones to write you nice reviews which you can feature on the site, and even on the instagram. As if you're doing this at 15, good for you, you're killin it!!!
Dress the part a simple uniform consciously and subconsciously tells others you are legit no matter your age
Man tbh I wish I could detail newer car, because due to where I work I only detail classic cars. And it just gets really annoying because all the prep just to wash it. Like I have to make sure that there are no gaps, and if there is then I have to mask it off. And I don’t use a pressure wash for the safety of the car I only use the foam gun sometimes. Sorry for the rant
Ya! Sometimes that's where the money is!
What about doing 3 cars instead of 2 trucks?
You're a beast man thanks for the vid
need to include travel time, fuel cost and supply cost
Lol your greedy man
@@tooobreezy you should definitely include your supplies cost that way you have a solid profit margin. Otherwise you're starving yourself and earning just above the poverty line.
Hi Luke, are you a mobile detailer or do your clients go to your house? If a mobile detailer do you use their water faucets and power?
I do both. I am mobile but I also have a garage, when mobile I always use client water and electric
Yes this before tax
Why did you foam the car then washed it off and then use the microfiber mitt on the truck? Thought the reason for foaming was for extra lubrication?
foam helps beak up and suspend the dirt away from the paint so you can wash the bulk of it away and reduce scratching.
Did you start off charging 100 on your maintenance detail? On all of your packages?
Great video
Thanks!
Everyone saying he's making $66 dollars for this wash, he's not! he's making $100 for the wash and thorough detail, and he probably doesn't have the time to wash out the bed of the truck. I completely understand where he's coming from
good work sir
Thanks Christian!
Quick question, do you use your camera or go pro for all of your details to protect yourself from people that want to try and blame you for damage that was previously on the car? I’m a little concerned, because I don’t really trust people I don’t know not to try and take advantage of me. Should I have insurance before I start detailing cars?
I would say that those people are the exceptions and not the rule, but taking simple pictures of major areas before hand is definitely a reasonable thing to do for protection
What’s brand foamer is that
WHATS WITH THE ALGORITHM THING 😜🤣😂👍🏻🌈
Isn’t it bad to wash a vehicle in direct sunlight?
Just harder to avoid waterspots
Watching this video makes me all the more glad I ordered a cybertruck.
I take my f150 super cab to a detailer that work at his house. He charges me 120 to do the inside and outside and it’s because I use my truck for work and I do construction so it’s basically like going muddying lol. I was watching your video because I wanted to do it myself and save those 120 but I think I might have to tip this guy because he does a heck of a job
That’s cheap
We would charge you $450 inside and out 👍🏼 you are getting a steal. Take care of that poor guy…
I would charge you $300 so your basically robbing his time 😂
@@purityautohygienics how do you advertise your business?
I’m going to need about Tree Fiddy
I haven't washed my jeep in like 6 months but I just spent 22 minutes watching a professional detail

Upload these podcast to a spotify id listen to these while i detail
Convert this video to an MP3 on a PC and move it into your phone
I totally thought the same thing!
Even easier, get the app “Musi” it’s a UA-cam player and you can make playlists and it’s like Spotify or Apple Music but through UA-cam
UA-cam premium you can start a video and press your power button and the video still plays in the background.
Buy youtube premium and listen to UA-cam videos in the background while you're detailing.
Seriously you'll wonder why you never did it to begin with.
Please define - What would you do today, from a marketing perspective, that is different when you first started?
Then again you do live in a nice profitable area and most your clients have $$ and wealthy rich, so it’s reasonable for your pricing. But since I live on a area that isn’t that nice and not as rich people you might have to lower your prices if you want clients
Getting all set up in my detail business 👌👌👌
I've been dealing for 2 years at Jacksons car wash and ready to go out on my own💚💚💚
Thank you for the sales call pre view helps to understand what to highlight with customers 🙏
Sounds like you used to be a salesperson at one point in your life.
Or maybe probably future? Yeah definitely past or future? Sorry I tried to make? It? Sound? Like everything is a question?
You did that in 90 mins? DAMN!
Can you do a comparison video between a car that has used your service, vs them using a car wash?
I feel like detailers in my area struggle because there are multiple car washes in our area that offer monthly wash services, most are around $30-40 a month for unlimited washes, and that includes things like bug spray, clear coat, siminoz hot wax, and more.
I feel like to a normal human perception, that those car washes suffice enough to be clean. Of course as a detailer you will notice a difference, but I feel as though the average person, or client that is visiting an office would not be able to tell the difference between a car that has used a good car wash vs a detail service.
Maybe I am wrong, but I would like to be able to see a comparison video of that.
The only advantage detailers have in my area is that they can offer interior cleaning I feel like.
Coming from a car guy who is just starting to get into detailing on the side, I can tell you there’s enough of a difference to matter
The key to any business get customers who will pay. People who like the service of detailer coming to their home to do the job vs them having to drive and wait, is what detailers should market their service to.
Those non touchless car washes beat the hell out of your car. They pick up dirt, mud, debris on the previous cars and then slap it all over yours. One of my friends takes their car through one and already has marks over her plastic areas. The touchless car washes are better for preventing marks on the car but they’re not really doing any cleaning worth paying for. If you truly care about your car have a professional do it or figure out how to do it yourself and save money.
12 year and still going strong detailer here, and i totally say the same stuff to my clients! Huge respect to you as a detailer that even after 10 years you're still going forward!
You should consider investing in a horse-hair brush opposed to hand scrubbing with that synthetic sponge. Other than that, love your channel :)
Just did my first serious detail with paint correction........ Took me 15hrs on a similar f150
What did you buff with?
So you stood buffering a truck for 15hrs straight ?
The trinova foam cannon is amazing. I have you to thank for buying one. Love mine. Thier customer service is great!
Does anyone use it with a electric power washer? I have one that’s 1.2 gallons a minute and 1200 psi
Love it! Glad that it worked out for you!
The fact he didn’t start the wheels at the top of the wheel just ercked me.
But you have to deduct for tools and products cleaners towels etc. and do you have to a license and insurance???
all of those products are tax-deductible. think of it like this. you get a $1000 paycheck from your employer at a job, taxes are taken out first thing, roughly 15% for federal (FICU, SSI, Medicaire), and in some states about 15% more for state tax.. after paying for benefits (401k and health insurance) you're down 30-35% easy on your check probably closer to 40% at that income level, so you're left with $600. He is making $1000 business income, and will also owe somewhere around 10-30% in taxes. Chances are, his taxes are lower as a self-proprietorship, but assuming they're the same as your paycheck's taxes, he can now deduct any costs of those items from those taxes, so he's investing in the business by buying those items, and now pays less taxes, and so at the end of the day, he's essentially made more money than you by being able to keep more of the gross earnings.
So let's say he earns $1000, he can buy the equipment, it cost $200. He owes the 40% ($300) in taxes on the $1000 but can deduct business expenses from that, so he's left with $600 AND the cleaning products.
Or whatever
@@tirkentube you are right on the money
just made another comment before reading yours, got the same conclusion :)
This is the kind of customer I have appreciation and like you said you must speak up before touch the car , I am a mobile mechanic and a lot of people think I am a miracle mechanic but not always work in that way , there alway customers that try to be smarter than us and those ones you must be careful, sometimes this people look for freebies, big time . That is why I do a pre-inspection before I start wrenching in a car. By the way I like how you do your detailing is amazing 😉
Hour and a half for the job doesn’t include travel time to and from the customers house, any time spent talking with customer, loading and unloading pressure washer, getting gas, cleaning cloths etc. Further, the $100 you “make” doesn’t include materials, chemicals, gas etc . Business license, taxes, state and federal, accountant.
Customer probably brings the truck to his house, and I'm guessing he asks for cash so it isn't taxed
@@BubbaPmp8088 you can't get paid in cash under the table for every customer though. That's a one way ticket to a fat audit.
Lucas nah he can do it they can’t audit if they don’t know it exists. I know tons of people that do it, especially barbers. The ones that make the most money only take cash for a reason...
@@botomusprime6238 good luck. Try to explain to the government how you're acquiring personal and business assets with 0 income.
Materials don't cost much especially when diluted like it should be. 5 gallon wheel de greaser ($80), soap ($70) lasts me 4+ months, all purpose ($25) 6 months, tire shine ($120) 1 year. 1 gallon jug of compound ($30) and polish ($30) lasts about 6 months-8 months. glass cleaner about 1 can every 2 weeks @ $7 a month. microfiber spending $5 weekly. At least 4 cars a day. as for brushes.. well they last a long time which also don't cost much. The profit margin is LARGE especially if you do ceramic coating.
Geesh 100 words per minute
Did you apply a long term sealant or wax to the paint prior at an earlier date? And with every maintenance detail you just hit it with a detail spray?
Good stuff but you're talking too quickly.
Very good detailing but unfortunately have to watch with no sound on..... Jesus take a breath lad...... Like a professional speed talker.....🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉
How is this possible to do in an hour and a half??!!?!?🤯🤯🤯🤯, I have my own detailing business
So the way I'm thinking, the way I've done my car's. About an hour and a half. Wash wax , trim, interior. Kind of type A anxious fast moving. And I figure a hundred and fifty bucks. I figure for doing something I like that's pretty good. Otherwise it's almost that anyway. But the medical professions a little stressful. So I think this would be fun to do on the side because obviously it's not a year-round thing, not consistent excetera excetera. In most cases
That’s easy 2/3 hours if it wasn’t maintained..but great work !
Something to be said about sharing valuable information. I appreciate your time, knowledge and the genuine delivery of it all. Thank you Luke.
How in the world did you clean that truck with hose water in the sun and get those results? Good work man.
Breathe bro breathe.... it is great to see a young man working hard and doin it ... work that is ...but you come off as extremely arrogant ( know it all... “they dont know how to” “when your a professional detailed” and put down the red bull you need to pause at least through your words and you sound like you giving a news cast ...I suggest you watch Chris Fix his early vid guy sounded depressed now maybe a littleover happy but I think you will see what I mean .......your great at the detail job explain as ya go but relax and have fun Doing it your still young
can't work for less than 50 bucks/h in Sweden because of all the taxes and even that is shit pay in the end. You get 2 dollars profit for every 10 dollar you gain. that's taxes for you
That's interesting because my customers do seem to focus on interiors. I sell a good bit of interior only jobs
Thank you for all your info you put out as you have been helping me more than you’ll ever know building my business. I do have one question about reoccurring maintenance clients. Once you sell them on a maintenance package whether it be monthly or by monthly or biweekly whatever it is. Do you charge them upfront to make sure you they call you back or wait till you do the job. I have sold maintenance packages to people & they are all gung ho at the time but then when it comes time to schedule it they don’t want to do it anymore, so I do I need to focus on different clientele or do something that assures me they will reschedule or keep their appointment?Hopefully this makes sense. Lol. Thanks any info will help. Jason~Auto Shine Detailing from Marietta, Ga
so you must have used $20 worth of products here, those products are not cheap..so you could not of netted $66 per hr plus your gas and travel time needs to be added to this equation. also did you bring your own water also in a tank ? thanks
Those hourly math dont make sense. We dont have set up time, get things back to the van, and drive between locations? Those should count also
So you can use that ceramic spray even if the vehicle isnt cermaic coated .?? How often should you wax a vehicle and what brush are you using that's long for the wheels ??
Have you ever had trouble with the water police? I worked at a company and we would wash our service trucks on business property. Some type of police came by and said your only allowed to wash your trucks at car wash .
So do you or did you in the beginning, take pictures of the vehicles before you started on them? Seems kind of logical
If yall think 50 a hr is to much then you obviously dont understand. How much effort it takes to detail like this . And yet the products he uses and knowledge from the experience he has is worth it.
Would it be better to start from the top and work your way down? I'm new to this and from cleanin basically anything else they say you should start at the top cuz if you start at the bottom and work your way up then the dirt that falls from the top will go back down to the bottom where you started, does that apply to this or does it not matter
The old working class & school never opened our eyes to maximizing our time

Hi Luke...what a very informative video....you said something about detailing classes. Is that something your doing now and if so how can I sign up ?
that was a great example of how to talk to your customers.
did you only clay bar the glass and grill? was that to remove bugs?
When you started how did you get comfortable with paint correction
What camara do you use to take videos of the vehicles on your head ?
Thanks for the video! I enjoy all your videos.
hey wilson this is my first time watching your videos and i really like the content and information. I had a question about this particular video. I was watching up to about 13 minutes and it occurred to me, what about the start up costs? I think it would be good information to review because starting businesses can be expensive so I would to see what your input is on that.
Ok you charge 100 how long do you take to do this truck?
This guy will make more money on youtube than detailing.
I am surprised nobody think about the cost of products and also they should be taxing the service so no way that's clean money... I'd say after costs and taxes that 100 goes to 60 maybe. Still a lot of money I guess
Luke can I get a ballpark figure when your business will be available and price range. I prefer your style of teaching vs Detail Groove.
Thanks so much! I am thinking that is will be priced somewhere around $397, and I am working really hard to get it finished but I am still a little while out just because I’m taking a lot of time to make this thing top notch. I actually have a mentor walking me through it because he does this professionally so it’s going to be a serious course.
$4k untaxed would be about $3000-3300 a month
Thanks for all your help...Thumbs up no problem
You work pretty hard for only making a 1000 a week. By the time you pay self employment tax and insurance and of keep your quipment is that really worth it
He said $1000/week based off of 2 maintenance washes a day both taking up 3 hours of the day, so 15 hours working per week. Even factoring in travel time and set up/tear down time, maybe add 2 hours/day. He also said he works weekends. All that considered, he's easily over $1000/week just in maintenance washes. If he upsells paint correction work, that's probably at least $500 per job but it sounds like his niche is exterior maintenance washes though.
Are you a mobile detailer or do you have the customer come to you?
