Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- It's been a rough week for the family of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. Two of his brothers just got life altering punishments that came down in the same week. The full story is a little complicated, check out the video for the full scope of the situation.

This story hit close to home. The woman Coban killed in the DUI accident, Kathy, was my friend’s wife. I was in the Air Force with him. It’s crazy how one bad decision can affect so many people. Thanks for covering this.
Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss
Damn man. I am sorry to hear that. Also, thank you for your service. You know better than most that freedom ain't free.
Sorry for your loss
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
"Why play defense against Mahomes if he's going to throw for 400 yards...? Because if you don't, he's going to throw for 800 yards!" Loved that line!! LOL
Funnily enough, i think it also applies to what Flemlo said about the NFL and NBA being sponsored by betting companies. Because yeah, as he says, people are going to bet regardless. But maybe putting ads about betting under their eyes all the time is gonna make them bet more often, or being the turning point in people starting to bet.
Also i do not think the same logic applies to people and to billion dollars corporations like the NFL and NBA.
That was a bar by FlemLo 😂
What was so great to hear though is hearing Michael talk about the team last night after game 1 against the lakers. When the media approached him on the topic he said there's 15 more brothers in th locker room with him that are providing him support. I hope that's helping him through this. Michael is kinda known in Denver for being a lil goofball but he's got a good heart and even through all that played a helluva game last night mad respect to him
💯💯
I didn't like his speech because he said things happened TO his brothers. I understand he is grieving for them, but Coban isn't the one who died in that crash.
Lucky he plays for the Nuggets
@clv735 yeah something did happen he is being punished
@@BamBamBigelow..ppl don’t know how powerful your statement is. Seriously. He’d get TORCHED if he was in a major city like NY & LA. FACTS!!!
That title/thumbnail is wild 🤣
It is but it’s reality though🤷🏽♂️
@@christopherdaniels3689very astute observation, Christopher!
Better change that title to 5 out of 8. The younger brother was just arrested on suspected DWI just a week after this vid.
Disagree completely about gambling in sports. IT SHOULD NOT BE PROMOTED BY SPORTS LEAGUES. IT'S HYPOCRITICAL‼️‼️‼️
Why is it hypocritical? Serious question. From what perspective?
@@TheRelevantUnknown because you're taking money from companies that have financial wagers/interests on the outcome of not only the games themselves, but also of the individual statistics of each player. There's so much room for this to be exploited and corrupt players/coaches/officials...it has NO PLACE being promoted by leagues. I'm not saying it should be banned or made illegal but it is getting out of control.
Rough week is an understatement! Would love to see more basketball content if you're considering doing so. Lots of things going on lol What's crazy is that the bets were nowhere near what he makes in the league. Something more is going on in this story imo
Amazing investigative journalism Flem
Flemlo doing basketball! 😱
I know, right?! Let's gooo
So glad he knows how to tell a good story!!!
Facts that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the thumbnail
MPJ is pretty reflective. I hope he doesn’t find himself thinking that it’s his fault… like, his star in high school was so bright and his brothers couldn’t deal with not being as good, or whatever reason. It’s on those two grown men to act right!
my boy in between them retwists hadda throw the hat on today 😂😂
Ive been there 😂
you always got the right message at the right time. i appreciate you bro
It's good that Coban apologized, I'm glad he didnt follow his lawyer's advice.
FlemLo = Sports Journalist and Life Coach
man. Was hoping you’d cover this. I know it’s not Football but excited as ever you covered this
Bro…. You are TOO REAL 💪🏾💯🙏🏾
My thought about sports betting is similar to contests: terms and conditions apply. If Apple does an iPhone giveaway, there's probably a condition saying employees and their families cannot participate. Similarly, I think a simple family sports betting exclusion could be a good start. Then maybe include employees of the NBA and arenas.
I personally don't bet on sports, and think its presence in the public is both a positive and a negative. Those with the skills can secure their bag. But those with addictions can now slip into a spiral more easily.
Flemlo for president. (Since you vaguely mentioned politics). Seriously though, you've got my vote, just run, should be easy.
Its not a hard thing to notice that alot of these kids who come from these religious families dont learn the proper social skills needed to survive alone...I saw many docs about this family and the way of life for them seemed to revolve around God, Baskteball and Family which is fine for perception but now with whats happened to the boys you gotta wonder if they were maybe exposed to a lil more would they have a better handle on the degree that they do things
Jontay Porter wasn’t even trying to hide the fact he was cheating. A lot of UA-cam videos out there explaining things when Porter first got popped for this. That “eye injury” he left out of the game for was so obvious he was lying. He got 3 quick board and couldn’t have more than 4. 😂
Flemlo covering basketball now?
Can't lie bro, this story just really caught my attention
@@FlemLoRaps Love your storytelling and all your work man, keep it up. Whatever you cover, I’m here for it 💯
I know this a football channel. But you way to talented to keep it there. I down for a great story no matter the sport.
Had not heard the other brothers story and it’s a horrible one. Thanks for the coverage Flem
Not the cutaway to homie thinking 😂 idk why but that shit had me dead
I think you should be able to bet on your team to win honestly. If my guy has 100,000 G's on it, it feels like I'm about to get a performance. Lol
Nightmare week fueled by irresponsible people making terrible decisions, those things could have been avoided. Unfortunately one of those terrible decisions cost someone their life.
Very tragic outcomes for many 😢
Every action has a reaction. Consequences to the choices you make. People need to remember that. Imagine putting in the work to get to the NBA, decide you aren't going to work anymore. Just bet on your own game's to make money. How damn dumb!
The most stupid thing about the Jontay Porter situation is that he was a two player so he wasn't guaranteed to be back with the Raptors next year, and I heard that he only profited 21,000 dollars. So...why would you fake injuries and bet against your own team instead of focusing on going out and playing as good and hard as you can so you can get a standard multiyear contract worth MILLIONS instead lol. He ruined his chance to make millions so he could bet and only profit thousands.
Should of gave it to liangelo tbh
Awesome vid flem!
F Lo doing basketball stories is goated
This Jontay Porter situation is just the tip of the iceberg, I believe this sports betting thing is gonna get WAY worse before they are able to get a grip on it it. I believe that is why Silver dropped the hammer on him. They want to send a message
How many kids is too many kids for a family to have before it becomes odd? Like having 8 kids? I feel like every family that I’ve heard of or know of that has more than 5 total children in one family always gets kind of odd
So if I’m a senator, and I’m about to give a government contract to a company, it’s OK if I buy stocks and make a boatload of money before the news becomes public, right?
Planting seeds for that NBA channel. 😂
4:55 lolllll the Pistons shade
Betting against your team is 100% wrong and should be banned forlufe
Need to UPDATE the headline to .... "5" out of 8 now!!!!! 😂😂😂
If there was ever a time to do a basketball video it was now. Keep it up Flemlo!!!!!
That part 2 pivot interview gonna hit
The other brother just got arrested for a DUI yesterday too
I think that legal sports betting worked absolutely perfectly in this case. There will always be gamblers, and draft kings have a line to the NBA and FBI offices, and its in their best interest to turn stuff like this over. Scott the bookie does not and will not have those interests. The ads are for the viewers at home, not the players. It's perfectly normal to advertise something your customers may enjoy while not allowing it in the workplace. Otherwise, the officss of adam and eve would get nothing done.
I think sports betting is a very evil path, but this is legitimately the best outcome of legalization, and everyone is acting like it's the end of the world and leagues were begging for this.
Aye man, the Pistons beat the Raptors when they played....twice!!
HE ONLY GOT 6 YEARS?! 😮
3yrs. for good behavior if he buys Chargers tickets. That's considered charity
I remember the brothers were a dou in HS. Saw them play Marvin Badgley on Espn. Didn't realize Johntay made it until the scandal.
I have no issue with Porter getting banned but I do have an issue with leagues letting, in my opinion, worse criminals get away with their crimes. Now obviously with everything theres nuance. Like how for example Henry Ruggs is in jail so the NFL literally can't let him play but theres literal rapists, domestic abusers, even a handful of murderers among other horrific crimes that have been allowed to play because they are good at a sport. I know it's a bigger issue than the leagues itself but for the NBA to crackdown so quickly on Porter while barely if even taking a look at dozens of other cases in the league is just so so disgusting to me
Because betting changes the integrity of the game
If the integrity of the game is lost why watch. If the integrity of the player is lost no one cares as long as he performs.
@@thisguyagain7857 that's my point betting can change the integrity of the game
@@GoHARD99 which I fully understand and why I acknowledge it's not necessarily a league issue just something I have a really big gripe with. Like Flem I want to root for these players to go perform and get their money etc but it's hard for me to cheer for X player when he's done truly heinous things
@@thisguyagain7857 very well said
I just said the same thing yesterday when I heard about the second brother getting into something, like can the porters catch a break this year??
Sir, you are a wonderful light onto the world. Your football storytelling and commentary is outstanding .But your personal insights are even better.
I like that Usher/Swizzbeats line 😂
Your videos that deal with serious incidents and shortcomings should be part of a rookie athletes intro into their respective sports. Maybe a couple more could be turned away from being reckless. 🙏
7:32 - I think the leagues and sports networks promoting and advertising gambling is meant for the viewer/fan. Players weren't meant to see these ads because they air during the games that the players are playing in. I mean the messaging is very fan-centric. I think that as a professional athlete and especially now knowing the story of Pete Rose in baseball, it should be more obvious that betting is not allowed, to be honest all forms of gambling is not allowed at least till after their career is done. The reason is because they can be put in a position to affect the integrity of the games they play in (for example, point shaving, or throwing games). I think it's fair to have clauses like that in their contracts. There are clauses in contracts of people who work in casinos that prohibit them from gambling on their free time so it isn't unprecedented (although the reasons may be different).
The league partnering with sports betting and not letting players bet is no different than companies doing prize/cash giveaways and not letting their employees participate. They have an u fair advantage and opportunity to directly affect who wins if anyone outside of themselves win.
spittin 🔥 tragic events but this is exactly the message to take away. empathy and critical thought. respect.
Love your content my guy. I hope that you cover basketball stories more often in the near future.
Flem can you do a video on how Jacksonville got the jaguars
We went years without sanctioned sports betting. It doesn't help anyone except business owners.
Keep telling ppl this but all I get is pushback! "But you get $200 free bets", " I bet $10 and $20", "You can make BIG money on this stuff", "I know what I'm doing" smh
As a Lakers fan I was kinda hoping this would just be too much for mpj to focus lol…he’s a 🐕 tho
Yo the breakdowns, examples, and comparisons were so on point, keep it going.
To quote DJ Khaled; And another one! Jevon Porter got a dwi recently.😮
One of the many things I love about your videos and commentary is that you tell the hard stories. The ones other people don't really want to talk about. But you do them in a way that is unbiased. The are always two sides to every story and you make every possible effort to show those two sides. And then leave it up to the viewers to decide how they feel about the story you just told. Please keep up the excellent work GOAT! 👍🏿😎
UA-cam comment section is filled with fights, spam, negativity, and even a lot of the “positivity” is just like baiting. It’s rare to see a good comment. This is a great one.
There’s 8 of them and they all hoop? Michael Porter Sr. was on some Joe Jackson ish
“The next time usher on stage with alicia you gone see swish beatz”😂
It strikes me as ironic that if that Porter kid had just called an Uber that night, that lady might have been his safe ride home and he would have saved her life by doing the right thing.
Seriously. Lyft & Uber easy to use. No damned excuse.
"Without replacing even a Porter of what they lose" would have been PERFECT! 👌🏿
The Pistons reference sent me to the floor. Damn. Lol.
Man espn needs to put flemlo in charge of the 30 for 30’s lol
What site he been on cuh!? 🤷🏿♂️🤭
I'm happy u did a basketball insight I hope u do more basketball and football deep dives too.
no one talks abt how this dude hair grows a x10 speed what’s the method tell us
1980s R&B/ soul /funk /pop group Debarge,...(who was discovered by Jermaine Jackson)..and was supposed to be the next Jackson family minus all the girls..(they only had 1)..was 8 out of 10.
That Usher line 😂
The irony that the raptors lost to the pistons is not lost on me
Favorite sports vids on yt
Just having the teams and leagues in bed with betting and advertising their services creates this environment. If an athelete is on the fringes, and feels they need the extra financial bump, or worse, a gambling addiction, it's now right in their faces, being advertised with multiple options, and using the google sales algorithm to get in our pockets... Asking athletes (or anyone, for that matter) that don't have that savvy and weren't taught as much critical thinking to NOT take that bread in real time is naive, and considering how quick a pro athletic careeer is, I understand why it's done. People need to understand the effect of the dice roll on the long game you're playing when you try to get around those rules... not just on you, but on what you're watching and the industry you're in... The 1919 Chicago White Sox, come to mind...
For Coban, getting a DUI in Denver is par for the course. Sucks that he impacted a family like that in the process...
Thanks Flem, another very empathetic show!
One side I think life time banned is extreme becuz sports betting companies & NBA, Sports media are cuddle up real close to each other.
On the other side Porter seem to be to bold moves & not doing his best to hide.
Outside a player deliberately not doing their best on purpose.
One could say the info porter was given up was stuff that was easily accessible to public.
The NFL and the other sports are in bed with Vegas.
I think league's banning players from gambling all together is a preventive measure, letting players gamble would open them up to a world of temptation and possibly lead them down a road of addiction and bad decisions
Had to mention that these leagues are turning 19+ year old men into multi millionaires and allowing them to gamble while they're a player would be a terrible thing
A gambler gets banned but you "refuse" to investigate an alleged child molester or hold him accountable for his actions in any way whatsoever?
The NBA is a joke!
When you are so used to having your way your entire life this is what happens.
Id watch if you did videos on anyone with fame. They all have causionary to redeeming stories. This at least showed you can wonder out of football. Not saying you should do it but consider it if you have the time.
Well done video. Yeah, i probably should have sat this video out on a Sunday. It was eye opening and depressing. Well done. Very informative
There’s a player who played for Los Angeles and also Brooklyn that I think may have a 30 for 30 in about 10 years or so
I don't see a problem in betting on your team winning(but any kind of betting on say the amount of points scored or how big the lead will be is just wrong)
Banned for life is pretty harsh. Seems like guys have done a lot worse things and never been banned. Look at Ron artest and the things Rodman did.
If you want to see what happens when players rig games it destroyed the legitmacy to fans of taiwanese baseball and upended sports culture in china too
Each Flem vid has lessons to learn and remember.
4:57 Pistons sniped by a mean stray 😂😂
Lmao I said that out loud, as a Piston fan living in that area. Like damn…what happened to this once great organization 🤦♂️
League might need to do a investigation on “Michael YackItUp Porter”
My guy is about to hit 1M subs.
Hey yo, that betting shit was Waaau worse than I initially heard, he was getting other people in on it and everything.
Damn.🤦♂️
This is Swiss and this is my burner account. I’m unsubscribing.
hear me out right. A super sports league where steroids are allowed and all ped's
I have a theory. Most of the internet, is middle schoolers and bots.
he wasn’t on the nba roster when he bet against the raptors, not that it makes it better but yeah
Only 6 years for killing someone
Ridley betting on them to win is different than betting that they lose .. because of "effort" or lack thereof?? Careful fam ..wrong is wrong.
Been saying, all this gambling promoting will ruin the game
More like 4:8 because sisters are medically retired
Betting is going to get worse. As teenagers are betting like crazy
