    People saying Jokic don't care and then you hear him saying "My motivation is winning. My lifestyle is winning. My obsession is winning" That line is COLD!

    • @HeroyUlitze
      @HeroyUlitze 9 місяців тому +234

      Jokic is clumsy in his statements, "it's just job"... he can be "cold" only because, for him, the enjoyment of the game comes first, and that overrides the pressure and stress.
      His BB IQ and physical predispositions would be wasted like with many other players, if there will be no love for the game, which at the same time allows him to have a normal life balance.

      Most beautiful brand of basketball goes to those Warriors teams putting games away by the 3rd Quarter with unmatched passing/shooting and execution. True they may have ruined the league, but only bc every other team is trying to chase what they did but doesnt have the same level of shooting and bball IQ they had so now everyone just gunning 3s so recklessly

      @En1gmatic1 no way. Its the Spurs, 2014 specifically, and the Nuggets are the Spurs true heir. The Warriors may have been that heir at one point, but they play far flashier with Curry celebrations and Draymond scenes, combined with KD going there turned people sour to them. It was the Spurs, then Denver. Which makes sense because from day 1 Jokic said his inspiration is Duncan, and he wanted to be the Tim of Denver

    • @En1gmatic1
      @En1gmatic1 9 місяців тому +1

      @daddyfuse50 I'm actually not mad at this. I always thought that Spurs team, especially in the finals was a masterclass of offensive basketball efficiency. And like you said, the warriors took that play style and added the unstoppable 3 point shooting to it to enhance it...then just broke the competition when they added KD.

      Not Bird bc he was a 1-man band. Not unselfish like Yokic and not as inclusive nor talented with reading opposition and adjusting to it. He was an emotional aggressor and didn't just play the game. Maybe it was a sign of the times bc basketball was pretty brutal at times then. I respect L. Bird's talent and not devaluing him as a player but Yokic is the WHOLE package. His humble, compassionate and honorable character is contagious to his teammates and I hope the rest of the basketball culture pays attention to its valuable traits. Go Nikola! You are the best ever! There was a show on UA-cam about the most famous chef who prepares fish paprikash in Serbia, and Jokic always comes to them, sits on a tree stump, and drinks beer and rakija. When he was home for the last time, he told him "I'm here for another 96 hours and then I'm going to America''. Imagine that...Gordon was also there, they were sitting together with the chef, and they were drinking, but the chef says that Jokic is invincible even when it comes to alcohol :)

    It was really interesting to hear from Jokic's perspective how he prepares for games, and how he feels when he steps on the court. It was kind of a surprise hearing Jokic say that he does feel pressure but at the same time he said you need that pressure to motivate you to want to win against the person in front of you. Many people might not guess that he feels pressure like that obviously because of his calm/relaxed demeanor, but i found that very refreshing that he does lol makes him very relatable. It was also very nice to hear your perspective on how your relationship with Nikola has sort of evolved over the years, and just sharing the things that you've learned from being around him was very profound to hear and listen to. Thank you MPJ for getting Jokic on the podcast, this is by far the best interview in English he's ever done lol

    Dude, I fucking love you Mike. I'll be completely honest when you first got drafted I thought you were just going to be "one of those I'm a superstar players". But to see your growth and maturity is legitimately inspiring to me. You've had to deal with so many challenges and Malone was definitely not easy on you either. But instead of folding or getting upset and asking for a trade or something like that, you just buckled down and became an amazing all around basketball player who can affect things even if his shot isn't falling. Listening to your monologue at the end was every bit as good as the actual Jokic interview which is saying a lot considering it's huge that he's even on a podcast in the first place. But it meant a lot to me. "Habits, not goals" is something I didn't realize I desperately needed to hear until now.
    Much love from a complete stranger my boy. Thanks again for doing this!

      When he answered about the top players in the league, WHO did he say first? It sounded like Drell? Then Luka, Lebron, KD...What was the first thing he said, i just cannot decipher it?

    Jokic cares about everything he does. He took steps to become better player and then the MVP’s came and with that the pressure of winning the championship that’s why he felt relief when he won it. He is stand up guy and he does what he needs so the whole team can have success. He doesn’t care about personal accomplishments but they come with his success on the court

    Some years ago, I was shouting "YEAH MIKE!" from the top of my lungs for your 3s in game, but atm here is one louder "YEAH MIKE! for your growth as a player and, more importently, as a man who runs this podcast. Great questions and great explanations of everything Jok is doing. Bravo my man! PS. We expect you here in Serbia, you are more than welcome!

    Love the fact that joker will dodge any other show but if its for a teammate he is in. Shows how great of a guy he is. Great episode MPJ keep up the good work!

    Nikola saying yes to MPJ and declining Iguodala' s invite for a podcast speaks a lot about him. Thanks Mike. Great questions.

    may be unbelievable but i have seen a lot of people on social media confuse this man's nonchalance as being rude. bro just wants to live HIS life and after listening to his words during this whole interview, he's clealry very appreciative of what the sport and the people who enjoy it has done to him.
