Good analysis. I totally agree with the connection to Zombie. There are lots of classic anti-war songs like War Pigs, One, and Rooster, but few written by civilians caught in the middle, and every war is a disaster for the civilians caught in the crossfire.

Every war is a disaster also for those who fight with agressors defending their country and it's a disaster even at much greater scale, because their hardships and danger are much greater. Think of regular young guys who left their dear ones and normal lives and went to the frond to defend their Homeland from invaders, where they got killed or even worse got wounded and disabled and have to live with PTSD/ disability in already difficult crisis economy which is chalenging even for healthy ones, as the ruSSia's dastardly hybrid was is still going on.
The latest Jinjer album is so good.

I think the first half of the song presents the view of an innocent child who is trying to interpret what is happening when first hears the soldier boots, or sees the flames from the rockets, and thinks that maybe it's an angel or an unicorn, or something from child stories, only for his/her imagined world to be crushed in the most brutal of ways and slowly realize through the parent's explanation that this is not a fairytale, it is war. Then the second part, with the jazz section, it seems to me to represent the parent's perspective who are trying to make life normal for their children and are quite literally going mad in hopelessness realizing they cannot provide one of the most basic necessities: shelter and safety for their children. The last part could be anyone's perspective, my guess it is from the point of view of Jinjer members: they literally just want peace, liberty, they want their home back.
This is my interpretation of the lyrics anyway, it might be completely wrong.
I think the similarity between the unicorns and the soldiers has to do with the way they hold their guns and not with the sound of their boots, as shown by the silhouettes. : )

Hell of a banger this one, you gotta do more of this amazingly talented band on the channel and more often, they deserve it. Try top favourite from last album "Retrospection" official, a superb song about their roots that ties with this one. Peace.
Such a great song! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 it has quickly become my favorite Jinjer song, the grooves and Tatiana’s beautiful blues/jazz vocals and the monster growls! 👌🏻 And really great visuals as well, it fits the message.

A brutal metal song which just happens to feature an exquisite jazz breakdown lodged right in the middle of it. And it makes sense! Lol. The genius of how they make this work makes me laugh with wonder every time I hear it.

Give Monuments a listen. I'd watch the playthroughs cuz they're just fun to watch. Either Origin of our Escape (bit heavier) or Atlas (more of a fun chorus).
Basically, Fellsilent are credited as one of the first bands in the djent scene (wouldn't personally call Meshuggah djent and they're certainly not part of the scene) and when (or before) they split up, their members founded Tesseract and Monuments.
I´ve seen some reactions of Jinjer.. But you´re the first one, who mentioned the Lyrics. Thanx for that!
btw... everyone of the Band is awesome talentend, far beyond from most metal bands nowadays. For me there are only two other recommendations: Wintersun and Tool...

JINJER are from Eastern Ukraine, Donetsk region. Their native town was and still remains occupied by pro-russin forces. And all the band members became war refugees and had to move to a different region (at first Lviv in Western Ukraine and later on Kyiv - the capital). This is a very personal song for them.

Great to see you do another Jinjer track!! Great reaction as always! This is an awesome song of course, and it is a universal message. Glad you did this one! (...and here's some additional military bits - most US planes (and probably other countries), like the C-130 or an F-18 Hornet (which is actually what's in this video), can be equipped to fire flares and chafe for evasion. I was a USMC CH-53 crew chief and we had the F/C dispenser selector sw and fire button mounted right on our door panel, in addition to the pilots also having the same fire control. When fired by any aircraft, the wake will be similar to the one in the video. What looks like is happening in this vid, is the pursuing aircraft (F-18) is flying through the wake of the aircraft that dispensed the flares. But I don't think the videographer was being partial to any particular aircraft. JMO...)

They're from near Donetsk, Ukraine. This is an area near the Black Sea.
Russia decided it wanted to annex Crimea and so they just moved their army into it, so there has been some armed combat between the forces.
As you may have heard, Russia basically took over, so the place where they lived is basically bombed out.
So, they literally want their home back.
As an American, I'm deeply ashamed at our inaction.

I remember watching the Ukrainian conflict on a news channel called russia today or RT, and there was live footage of people throwing people off of buildings to there death and people overthrowing a tank was crazy!
It was the 2nd May '14 when ukronazis burnt the ProfDomSoyuz (Trade union's building), with hundreds of AntiMaydanists & Comrades inside; the people been burnt, slaughtered, beated, thrown through the windows, etc.
The proEU government closed the building and erased of the traces of massacre; ask to some Ukronazi what they think about this nazist act, but everyone will not answer you ;)

Drew, in fact, in Ukraine, we have a double attitude towards the group "Jinjer". We understand that they are stars of metal and rock music in the world, but their statements about the occupation of our territory by Russia in social networks (which they later deleted) are not very encouraging for the majority Ukrainians, and this is putting it mildly, and even more so, the statements of Tatiana and other members of the group in defense of Russia are simply offensive, especially when their hometown is now controlled by Russia and they had to move to the capital of Ukraine - Kyiv.
Jinjer sing about YOU & such ROGULS as you the song of Outlander. Jinjer is the Outlander in the Ukraine with hordes of roguls.
