Adam Sandler came to the restaurant I was working for at the time in Tampa fl. MM of Tampa. We closed at 12am, he and his crew, kept us open til 130am ish, on July 4th, and paid EVERYONE IN THE KITCHEN like 40-50$ and he tipped the server. He walked right up to me and started having a conversation with me, and when I told him I was 18 he said “wow man, you’ve got your whole life ahead of you and you’re already jacked and everything.” It was so silly but such a huge compliment coming from him, and he made me feel like I have the potential to accomplish so much in my life just like how he did. Sandler has humility, blue collar work ethic, and is completely authentic and genuine -- and this has been an amazing combination with so many classic comedy films over the years, stretching back to the mid 90's when I was just a kid. His movies most certainly influenced my life in so many ways, and they definitely helped seed my sense of humor which has gotten me thru so many of life's trials and tribulations.

Weirdly I can relate in a different way, Five years ago, I hadn’t even graduated from college. I had been out of school for years, and even when I was in, I was just a C student. To cut a long story short, my nephew was about to graduate high school and had to take his SATs, but he was goofing off. His mom asked me to talk to him, so I tried to encourage him to study. His response was, "What do you know, Uncle Andrew? You haven't even graduated from community college."
In that moment, I made a pact with him-if he took his SATs seriously, I’d finish my remaining 18 college credits in one semester and either take the LSAT or MCAT at the same time he was taking his SATs. I knew I had to keep my end of the promise to maintain any respect, so I pretended to study at first, but then I really got into it.
Long story short, I ended up taking the LSAT and, to my surprise, scored a 176. In my personal statement for law school, I shared this story about how it all started as a way to inspire my nephew. Last year, I graduated from Georgetown Law School. What began as a spur-of-the-moment challenge and delusion turned into a reality-I’m now a lawyer, something I never would have imagined back then.

@@-Believeinyourself- My nephew did take the SATs and did reasonably well, earning a spot at a good college. However, after his first semester, he realized that college wasn't the right path for him-he was much more passionate about outdoor activities. He came to us to discuss how he was feeling, and I fully supported his decision. I even helped convince his mother that this was the best choice for him. He eventually enrolled in a farm training program, and now he’s managing a farm in Vermont. He's incredibly happy with his life, and we couldn’t be prouder. In hindsight, dropping out after the first semester was the best decision he could have made because it was a well-considered and informed one

Nobody can keep producing bangers after bangers for decades. It’s too hard to do. At least he gave us what he did and is still trying to give us stuff. Appreciate him while he’s still with us.

90s early 2000s goofy Sandler was great
I always loved the other side of him in his serious roles
Many people who say they love Sandler don’t even remember the movie reign over me
I’ve always thought he did amazing in that role and shows just how versatile and underrated he really is as an actor
