Still love every song on this game. Instantly transfers me back to that kid mastering everything there was to master on MK II. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug!
Matt Furniss, this guy is just unbelievable, he did understand the essence and translated it to perfection using genesis capacity to the max ... feel those beats, bass, and what about those "dark asian" instruments and rhythms. All these factors really make justice to the name of the game when you listen to every track.
I seen in an interview he said he did not even use the extra PSG soundchip at all which would have added extra sounds for layering, that is even more impressive that his music sounded so good.
I used to play MK2 when I was a child and I didn't know how the music is different for the arcade version. But I grew up listening to the Mega Drive OST and like this version so much!
If matt furniss worked on ultimate mk 3 soundtrack... man it would've been a killer. Matt furniss always maked sure that the genesis/mega drive sounds clean and good that people like. Every soundtrack he did in genesis/mega drive impresses me and never disappoint
@Benjamin Owuye Jagun Yea, we're all humans and not perfect. Edit: I checked the megalomania soundtrack, and i can say that it sounds pretty average. Really can see that Matt wasn't that experienced with chiptunes at that time
That’s the danger of it! I loved all that garbage, but Satan was a musician before he fell. He lures us away from Christ through the entertainment industry.
HisVirusness well we are all led to emulate our fathers. If we truly recognize God as our father, though not perfect this side of heaven, our lives will be marked with love, truth, self sacrifice, humility, gentleness, and patient endurance. i think people will agree with me on this one.that the fatality theme on this game is the most disturbing, creepy and devilish tune in all mortal kombat history.it still gives me the chills after 20 years
In retrospect, I like the direction Matt Furniss took for the music -- the Sega version of MKII definitely had unique feel. Overall I actually prefer the Genesis game over the Arcade version 😂
It's a football chant from the UK! Aimed at a player with a two-syllable name when they scored a goal, originally for a player with the name of Cyril, thus the lyrics were: "Nice one, Cyril, nice one, son, Nice one, Cyril, let's have another one"

In early versions on MK2, the Tower theme was used on the Pit 2
I think is a good idea get together the finishers/ends w the original to complete the entire OST to make more dynamic and atmosferic. Please, do that and finally i'll hear a masterpiece in a unique way w high quality, like this.
