As a Star Trek nerd from the early 1970's I have a little complaint.....Oh no, wait I don't! As a purist I find this extremely satisfying! The very early Star Fleet aesthetic is completely convincing, from ship design to uniforms. The CGI is beyond impressive and the physical sets are impressive while still retaining the main design details that I loved as a child. The writing, well I can't find any criticism, it just evokes TOS for me. Some comments have lightly criticised the acting, and while I have a certain amount of sympathy for that I can't truly say any of it was actually bad. Most of it actually far outpaced TOS acting. @@TheRealJuseBeats If you'll recall, in Wrath of Kahn, Kirk has to wear glasses because he is allergic to standard therapeutics. (iirc, it's called Retinax?) After a few re-watches, what turned me off most were the excessive head movements of the commander and the stares of the captain (there's a difference between stare and stern look). Minor things, hope they address them later. Great effort, great result, and fan made!

Amazing; out of this world great; no pun intended! Congrats for all the hard work & brilliant writing & direction. Got my attention like someone grabbing me by the jacket! EC Henry got a classic on his hands!
Okay. There are basically two kinds of Star Trek fan videos: there are the ones featuring teens who cannot act, in stories that are not plausible and that use green screened backgrounds and almost zero as far as props. Those generally use the same effects of sparking explosions inside the bridge that would either kill people or at lease scorch a lot of things. They are barely watchable. Then, there are the professional productions that have actual sets, use people who are right for their roles, and have very good-to-great special effects. This one falls into that second category. It is a real pro job. Certainly, the acting and delivery of lines can use some fine tuning, but this is an enjoyable production. I look forward to the next part(s) and wish the mercenary bean counters at CBS and/or Paramount would climb back off their high horses and allow these quality extensions to Star Trek of go ahead without constrictions. Great job Pacific 201 team. Please, keep it up.
Really? I thought the Captain could be recast. He was not authoritative enough, and kind of stilted on his delivery in an emergency situation. The rest of the cast seemed quite young, maybe this was a cadet ship? The effects and camera angles were top notch though.
This was, overall, really well done. It’s as if the future was inhabited entirely of Canadians. Extremely polite. Attractive. Honest. And really, isn’t that a future we all covet?
Well, people in Star Trek generally do try to be polite, honest and intelligent. That still doesn't make them perfect or infallible. I like that one of the main themes of this fan film is exploring just that, in addition to the topic of various fears and how they influence our thinking, worldviews, and even policies, as a species. The trauma from the war with the Romulans is making the Earth and early Federation leadership (both civilian and military) a little too paranoid for their own good, trying to focus on military and espionage goals all the while pretending they've refocused on scientific exploration. The experiences of acting captain Vandre and her surviving crew clearly point to that tension and how it's actually undermining the ideals of the Federation and Starfleet, rather than making them more resilient and with the times. Rader's revelations to Vandre about the actual intriguing things they found, instead of tiresome espionage and realpolitik, gives a little hope for the upcoming 23rd century, as symbolised by the repaired Pacific 201 jumping to warp at the end of the story...
First, let me just say, well done! I gave it a like almost immediately. I feel actors could use a little more direction and camera could be a little more dynamic. It looks like you have some sets built, so you should use that to move that camera a little or get different angles. The ship is just gorgeous! That first shot of it, when you pan around it - oh, wow! You can see the work that went in it. Kudos to all the actors. You can easily see the effort and passion. Can't wait to see more!
Most of the Star Trek fan films I've seen need better lighting and camera work. I can never quite put my finger on what's wrong, just that it doesn't look right. If I went to directing school and learned how to set shots up, I'd probably be able to see how to correct it. This fan film does better than most. The camera work could be better, but at least I'm not looking at it and thinking that they've put a lot of work into this just to mess it up with the camera work.
@@bukster1 it looks like a lot of shots are green screen, they are incredibly hard to get right, also it looks like they are shot at 50 or 60fps which gives a very weird look called the "soap opera effect" Also the soundstage needs work in some shots. I may try to rework them myself, the talking while at the beach early on sounds like they are recorded in a small office, the footsteps in the opening sequence and the chair creaks sound small and not wide as they should. But then in other scenes, the CGI is amazing and the audio is back to being too notch. My favourite sound effect is the door, which is clearly someone going pssssshhhwwwww into a mic it's great!!
The camera work did not bother me as much as poor sound editing. There are some really great sound effects, the door opening and closing is not one of them. The actor's voices sound puny/tinny and there is an echo on the set. They need to do a better job with the sound mix. The captain's voice is high tenor speaking range needs to lower a few tones.
I agree! More direction is especially needed with the actor's energy-levels in stressful situations. The way the XO was hanging from the shuttle was kinda wooden and when she was dragged aboard, she didn't quite react like she was just hanging from the side of a shuttle by her hands, high above a desintegrating planet... But the visuals are awesome! All in all, not too bad indeed! Looking forward to the next part. Live long, prosper and boldly stay where you've been the last several months... your home! 😁
It's amazing that fans are able to do productions of this quality with a virtually non-existent budget, but an abundance of pure love for the franchise!
Just watched this and kept thinking to myself... This is the exact sort of Star Trek I’ve been wanting to watch for ages! Very good work! Golden Standard! 😁
YEESSSSS!!! This is exactly what I wanna see out of Star Trek! The Pacific is clearly heavily damaged and a new Romulan ship that’s like nothing that’s come before has come and is stalking them from afar. This almost feels like the Battle of the Ionian Nebula from The Wrath of Khan.
The most astonishing, breathtaking scene of a spaceship I've ever seen in my life! The ship floating free in space, the depht of the stellar clouds far away, the sunlight reflection on te painting of the ship's disk. My most deep and sincere congratulations to the team of producers!!
I have to admit, when the Kickstarter for this started, I just pledged because I wanted access to the perks - to me, it looked like most of the other fan-made UA-cam videos I'd watched a few minutes of and then closed out of. Then I kind of forgot about it for a while. But this? Holy crap, this was worth the wait! I'm beyond impressed with the production quality, the acting, and the story. I genuinely didn't want this to end - I was completely enthralled. Honestly, well done. I can't wait for part 2.
*you might also appreciate an older kickstarter project/campaign that's now a bit over four years old called Slice of Life which takes place in the Blade Runner universe...about 25 minutes long and took two years to produce and filmed mostly inside someones garage (you'll never know that)...visually this is one of the best fan made films i've watched in a very long time...Prelude to Axanar is also quite good as well*
Such detail! How true is it that fans can add so much more to the depth of the Star Trek universe than any high grossing box-office producers ever could? Bravo!
Very good. I think this is a very good fan film. They put real efforts in this. How do you read the rank insignias and patches and badges. Wow the ship looks Iike a real model! Impressed! Very impressed!
I really enjoyed this - it is far superior in many ways to what CBS has produced in recent years. EC Henry put a lot of effort into the Pacific herself in terms of her design and construction, I would recommend everyone who liked this to go and watch his interviews over at Trekyards. Thanks to everyone who put time and effort into this fan film!
Retinax might be for correcting the stiffness older people get in their lenses, which causes far-sightedness. Might not have anything to do with myopia (near-sightedness). She's too young to need reading glasses.

The ship aesthetics are incredible in this. Both in design and execution. Amazing work. The environments are extremely well done also. Very impressive CGI work, not just for a fan film but by any standard.
@@theslicefactor4590 They use most anyone who wants to join. They probably audition to some level, but they cannot pay people to act, and often the crew is a bunch of people who WANT to act in star trek and so they make their own. My guess is that they are focusing on the craft (speaking clearly, hitting the marks, etc) and that is pulling a bit from the "honesty level" of the acting. Which, frankly... I've seen worse from college level acting students. Given the nature of fanfilms, I think they are above par for the course.
The thing that bugs me the most isn't the acting it's the fact all the doors on this starship sound like someone saying "Psssh" and it cracks me up any time this happens! :D
Methinks just a bit more space between line deliveries could sell the characters considering their next move instead of propelled through the script; but yeah not professional actors and that's okay lol
THAT was actually pretty good. Compelling, interesting and intriguing. Exo acting was a bit stiff but not altogether distracting from the story. The story is very watchable and I can't wait for the continuation. Well Done!
Great job by all! Very impressed with the Pacific itself inside and out! I know Eric really wanted to ground the look of the ship and tech in today’s navel design, and it looks really good to me. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. Ready for part 2!

The most astonishing, breathtaking scene of a spaceship I've ever seen in my life! The ship floating free in space, the depht of the stellar clouds far away, the sunlight reflection on te painting of the ship's disk. My most deep and sincere congratulations to the team of producers!!
I hope that this gets a lot of attention over the next few days.
SPREAD THE WORD
4:39 "This is shuttlecraft Taiwan..." So nice to hear that, as an expat who calls Taiwan home.
The effects and the ship are just a beauty. Feel like the acting could use some work but otherwise 10/10
Both are much better than your typical fan film imo
@@RedCaio exactly. CBS needs to take notes
Lawrence is the best character, I was almost convinced he actually believed he was on a federation ship. I'm berry impressed with his performance.
*you might also appreciate an older kickstarter project/campaign that's now a bit over four years old called Slice of Life which takes place in the Blade Runner universe...about 25 minutes long and took two years to produce and filmed mostly inside someones garage (you'll never know that)...visually this is one of the best fan made films i've watched in a very long time...Prelude to Axanar is also quite good as well*
Wow
Amazing
Must've taken forever
Wait, wait, what?! I'm so happy to finally see this.
Will your people come to their aid?
Such detail! How true is it that fans can add so much more to the depth of the Star Trek universe than any high grossing box-office producers ever could? Bravo!
The ships look fantastic and the effects are spot on! Can’t wait to see more
10000 TIMES BETTER THAN THE DREARY STD WITH ITS FUZZY BLOBS IN SHADOW.
"The shields can handle this right?"
"Of course. All shields are rated for flying through planets"
Very good. I think this is a very good fan film. They put real efforts in this. How do you read the rank insignias and patches and badges. Wow the ship looks Iike a real model! Impressed! Very impressed!
This is the rebirth of Star Trek. JOB WELL DONE! Thanks for posting this treasure!
I love how this is treated like an actual drama.
Nice space glasses. She must be allergic to Retinax 5...
maybe she just likes retro stuff
Could be they don't have Retinax 5 yet, this does take place 40 years after the Earth Romulan War, but before the Original Series.
More like Retinax 2.
@Justin Ebanks or cuter. Some guys dig the librarian/ school girl look. I know my BF does 😜
Retinax might be for correcting the stiffness older people get in their lenses, which causes far-sightedness. Might not have anything to do with myopia (near-sightedness). She's too young to need reading glasses.
fantastic production values and effects. Acting ~mostly~ on spot. This is some great stuff. everyone in it should be proud. Can't wait to go watch part 2
COME ON!!!!!!!! I'll have a hard time waiting till December can't wait for the next part to come out well done to all involved in this project it looks great
DITTO.
You can tell people who love Star Trek have put this together! Thank you for telling an interesting story!
I honestly thought this would never come. Especially considering what happened to Axanar. But Im half it finally here! Looking forward to the next part.
Well, Axanar is back!
Oh my goodness. This was far, far, FAR above what I expected. PLEASE continue the project. I'm officially a huge fan now.
Fantastic! Pacific was so worth the wait. Thanks for all your hard work on what I’m sure was a labor of love. Looking forward to part 2 🙂🖖
Loved the work with the SFX as well, makes it feel a thousand times more real
The ship aesthetics are incredible in this. Both in design and execution. Amazing work. The environments are extremely well done also. Very impressive CGI work, not just for a fan film but by any standard.
So glad to see this finally! Really enjoying so far.
Happy to see that there's a "Shuttlecraft Taiwan" on board. Trekker from Taiwan.
Ohhhhh, it's finally here! This is beautiful work and I'm super excited for part 2. Well done EC Henry.
Fantastic.
Just the right balance of technology and drama-
neither going overboard in amount.
Acting seems a little wooden... maybe they're still finding their characters though.
I wad thinking the same thing. I love the visuals though. I'm willing to overlook it as it's fan done.
It's a fan film. Just enjoy.
There are definitely issues.
Does nobody remember season one of Next Gen?
absolutely stunning!
love from Taiwan
I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wanted more!! Can't wait for part 2!
Well done! One of the best fan productions I've seen yet. Congratulations to "all hands on board."
Acting is a bit stiff but so was TNG Encounter at Farpoint. The effects are really good and the story is good to. Looking forward to part 2.
Stiff? I have seen more fluid acting in the Lee Harvey Oswald prison transfer.
I was thinking the exact thing, Stewart on the first show
I agree. The story and effects are great.
The thing that bugs me the most isn't the acting it's the fact all the doors on this starship sound like someone saying "Psssh" and it cracks me up any time this happens! :D
Oh my God for a fan-made fix that was phenomenal! I'm sorry it's taking me so long to actually watch this!!!!
Who-hoo! You guys did it. Beautiful! Can’t wait for the next installment!
I've really been looking forward to this and absolutely enjoyed it. Thank you for all the hard work!
Awesome! Enough can't be said about fan productions that keep the spirit of Star Trek alive, well done!!! 👍👍
Love the visuals. not sold on the acting. Needs polish.
I agree but... They are fans, right? I think the "actors" are not real actors. If so, I suppose they did a pretty good job.
Bcoz they r not prof.actors i think.since dis is made by fans the actors r also those fans stard in it
Star trek continues grew into something wonderful. Things like this will also in time. Bravo
Agreed. Ooph
Methinks just a bit more space between line deliveries could sell the characters considering their next move instead of propelled through the script; but yeah not professional actors and that's okay lol
Amazing what fan fiction gets done with a limited budget. Nice to see a story that respects the source material and fans.
Excellent! A superb job.
THAT was actually pretty good. Compelling, interesting and intriguing. Exo acting was a bit stiff but not altogether distracting from the story. The story is very watchable and I can't wait for the continuation. Well Done!
Holy shit, this is brilliant. I can't wait for part two, and hopefully more of that Daedalus
The Pacific is not a Daedalus class. Looks more like a precursor to the Constellation class.
@@jimsondergeld2262 I was talking about the ship in the opening scene, the Pacific is alright but I really like the Daedalus
This is like 1 million times better than PICARD
Ahh yes! Finally! I love this great job to the cast and crew you're all awesome. I look forward to seeing more. 🖖
This is AMAZING. The ship, the uniforms, everything. I love it! THIS is Star Trek!
Thank the gods, I'm so glad to see this video being released
This was pretty good. Can't believe it doesn't have more views.
This is amazing so far.
Genuinely thought this was dead.
So very glad to have been wrong.
What a wonderful job you've all done, absolutely brilliant, thank you.
Great job by all! Very impressed with the Pacific itself inside and out! I know Eric really wanted to ground the look of the ship and tech in today’s navel design, and it looks really good to me. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. Ready for part 2!
Extremely impressive!!! Hollywood is not capable of Trek these days, you prove again creative & loyal Fans are what keeps the series going.
Good luck with Pacific 101, this is very cool and thought out.
Thats seriously one of the best takes on Star Trek aesthetics and technology design i have seen.
Fantastic job! Can't wait to see more. Very realistic and the ship makes so much sense.
Excellent! Can't wait until December.
I thought I knew where this movie was going from the trailers over the last few years. I am happily surprised that I was wrong. Very well done. Cannot wait for the rest.
That was amazing. Well done.
This is excellent and captures the REAL essence of Star Trek very well. Really looking forward to Part 2.
