A noble sacrifice. The essense of good drama and good Trek. Thank you!
Wow. I wish Paramount/NBC would pay attention to this sort writing and story telling. Bravo.
You Are Not Alone in that thought......sir....🤔
😎✌🖖/Very Cool Short Story Indeed !!! 👍👍🌠 Nicely Done
STUPID MONOPOLY - LUCAS IS NOT STUPID
Paramount needs to hire Vic to direct some short treks and his own series. This is amazing.
Agreed. Imagine a Paramount sized budget with Vic at the helm of Star Trek? We can dare to dream.
Wow, what a great production from every aspect of a film (acting, directing, special effects, script) - it was fantastic.
YEP! Even after all the crap he's been put through, Vic's still flexing that brilliant fan film magic!! Awesome film!!
What crap? I'm new to this. Please elaborate...
This is ABSOLUTELY the BEST Star Trek fan fiction film out there!
Folks - that was a really ambitious swing. It's hard to tell an innovative story in 23 minutes, with clear direction, heading to an emotional payoff - but you did a great job. Yes, there are a few rough edges, but I think you should all be proud of this. Well done!
One of the reasons why this is so so good, is the casting is superb. You got the right people for the right roles, and they played those roles well.
Just a couple of issues. I disliked the first officer from the outset when she said, "Your ship?" To the Captain. Probably a result of writers not understanding anything about military culture. That was a direct assault on the authority of the ship's captain. She should have been taken down a notch immediately.
I think that each member of the cast in this production each deserve a commendation for meritorious performance noted in their file. Also, the exterior shots and effects are just freaking GORGEOUS. They even have the shields that are tight against the hull instead the bubble type that was used in the 90s and earlier shows.
I did the exterior VFX. Thank you! The shield effects were inspired by the newer shows, although you also saw them in ST6 and Nemesis.
From start to finish...INTRIGUING....WELL PACED....MAGNIFICENT!
Applause!!!
To the Neutral Studios, Vic, and the rest of the crew, FANTASTIC! Very well done with a heart stirring ending.
Shout out to Kingsland,GA for having the studio in their little town.
Well done, I am not one to watch many Fan stuff, but this is excellent! Love the whole thing: Story, Acting, Effects, etc. Well done to Vic for directing and loved his "cameo" as the Klingon 1st Officer! Vic, this is Ken from former Team Gary, aka Convention Stuff. You will understand this. Miss seeing you and assisting and hope all is well! Avalon Team, keep up the great work!
Great job great storyline too....... And all the ladies in the fleet uniforms right down to the boots spectacular especially the first officer .!
I sit here stunned by what I just saw. This is perhaps the most amazing fan film I've seen to date. To say well done to everyone involved just seems inadequate because well, it is. Everything about it was simply perfect.
I know I was stunned too, had the watch the ending battle 4 times just to absorb it. You're right best fan made film ever!
@@alvermette218 I was used to starship crews finding a last nanosecond way out of situations that I thought that maybe they would do the same. The emotional impact of ramming the Klingon ship does not lessen with rewatching. Vic's closing credit music was just incredible.
@alvermette218 it was good, but Vic has 10 more Star Trek Continues episides, and at least 3 are even better than this. You should watch them.
U Said It! sir...OUTSTANDING JOB INDEED!!😎✌
No, it was gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Now THAT was a story not done very often in the ST Universe, Avalon or any other. Well executed. Very well done. God Speed USS Cherokee.
😢 R.I.P
,.wish we could have gotten to know more.
That was a fabulously written story. Better than anything I have seen from Star Trek in years.
This was surprisingly logical. Even an inferior opponent will jump at you without alternative options.
Trek is often Quite emotional. This was a very heartbreaking story! 😢
EXCELLENT presentation ! Its good to see Vic Mignona's hand in more S-T Fan-Fic !
WOW!!!! That may be the best Star Trek I've seen in decades. I was thinking that just before the credits rolled. Then I saw Vic Mignogna was involved and saw part of why. I'd really enjoyed Star Trek Continues, and that (along with Axanar and the rest of the Avalon Universe shows) had been REAL Star Trek for me, not the corporate stuff of the last 15 years or so.
Wow though. That was visually beautiful, acted superbly, and riveting and heartbreaking. The final information about the Cherokee and it's part in the failed peace mission were, to use a phrase that is entirely appropriate, "Fascinating".
THANK YOU for keeping the true Spirit of Star Trek alive!!!!!
TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! I have to admit I sat in stunned silence for a few moments at the end. Very well done!! Here is to the crew of the Cherokee. SALUTE!
SPOILER!
I'm just sad we won't see them again. Good cast. I cared about the characters.
Nicely done. Had a nice vintage era TOS tonality with the writing and acting turns with a fun Vic M. cameo. Avalon keeps getting better. Bravo.
Outstanding!!!!! Good as if not better than some of the tv or movies!!!! Thanks.
Wow, this episode was so unexpected. I had no idea what was happening or where the episode was going. But that ending.... so somber and moving. Well done, well done. This episode was impressive and the music selection was so good. One of the best Star Trek fan episodes anywhere.
Yeah. When that "thing" happened to the captain, I felt anything could happen.
WOW! I'm shocked! By the events, by the tense and intense final, by the script, acting, and special effects - for some I did instant replays to properly appreciate them.
I love the almost silent space scenes, which also gave us expectancy, well done!
The captain's duality when treated with considerateness was also very well played.
The first officer's immediate responses after the captain's escape are all I wanted to see from every captain or captain in charge! Brilliant!
This episode was better than several TOS ones, and it's still echoing inside me.
This is what I can articulate by now, beyond this I'm speechless.
You did the best synchronized shook by a torpedo I ever saw! And showing so many people! ^_^
If you don't mind, subtitles (copied from the script) would be a great help to many people, not only in the USA but all over the world.
Great video folks...Paramount could learn from this
This was a great story. Didn’t see that coming. Loved the sets as they are truly vintage TOS. Great exterior shots. I’m crushing on the first officer as well. Kudos to all involved in this production.
Nice story. Great sets, great look and feel of TOS combined with modern CGI. Well done.
I'm stunned. Had it been presented in a movie theater, the audience would have walked out in silence. This is Trek.
Wow, what a terrific movie! Well done, writers, cast, and crew!!
War is hell; even when it's a cold one! ... And casualties are incurred no less costly and tragically. Such is the nature of sentient conflict. Unofficially, the crew of the U.S.S. Cherokee died in the line of duty; having given their full measure, in service to the Federation. . . . This was certainly an unexpected ending to an unexpected chain of events. It was a fast-pacing episode, and certainly heartbreaking, but a ground breaking episode for the folks at Avalon and Neutral. I feel like mourning. Congratulations. 💔
I could not agree more with everything you said. Especially about feeling like mourning. What impressed me is how quickly this story got me to care about characters I'd never seen before with no hint of the fate of the Cherokee and those who serve aboard her. So when I rewatch this and I have several times already, one is very quickly struck by the tragedy to come and the feeling the ending creates does not lessen. If this had been a web series like the glorious Star Trek Continues, we could have gotten to see a very fine crew and gone on awesome adventures with them. First Officer Karinski was definitely captain material. As much as I'd love to see a web series with the Starship Cherokee, not getting to see their five year mission only makes this story all the more powerful.
@gabesantiago3074 I think you misunderstand me slightly. When I say I could not agree more, I'm saying I agree with you completely, if I had been saying that I could not agree less, then I would have been disagreeing you. We're actually on the same page.
@@patricklynch1962 - My Apologies, friend; I was reading w/ out my glasses; a bad habit of mine! We're good! 👍😉
@@gabesantiago3074 No worries! 🖖
SPOILER!
...and true to Star Trek canon, all the red-shirts died!
Just Wow. That was amazing. It's fan films such as these, so well acted and produced, that deserve to be in canon Trek. It's so good that it would have been fitting to be shown in Star Trek: Short Treks, like how it should have actually been done to expand the Trek universe. I don't know how you are able to screw up an anthology series, but these types of films, done by FANS, are miles better than what we gotten from that.
WOW, Well done! I would have never imagined how this episode would have gone, a true you have to see it to feel it one, again very well done!
Much more relaxed acting than most I have seen. Great story and effects. Would be a good series.
This is the best I have seen. Thank you
Wonderful Episode. It was extremely satisfying to watch a Star Trek show that brought back memories of the way sci fi was done more than half a century ago. It is incredible that a full and refreshing story was achieved in such a short episode.
I’m back for my 2nd 3rd and 4th plus views of this masterpiece of art.
Thank you for keeping it posted. ❤salute all involved.
P.S.
I still want more
I still won’t spoil it
WOW it’s good!
USS Cherokee a fitting name, proud to live and proud to die, with utmost honor. I'm impressed with what all that went into this short story, and I don't impress easily. Well done to all.
I have no words for how well done this film is. I'd love to see a sequel where this crew could be saved through time travel intervention
Wow, I'm really impressed! Now THIS, is a great fan film. Very well executed. And, it's believable in so much it could fit with Star Trek cannon. Especially at the end, when it mentions how Starfleet covered this up and sealed all records. I mean, they do it all the time. Like concealing how Spock has a half sister in Discovery. I can only imagine how much this cost to produce, but I thank you for producing it all the same! As others have commented, Paramount needs to pick this up and "make it so"! ; )
Thank you. Very kind words. I (and we) appreciate it.
Ok.... this is easily the best Star Trek fan film ever made. And I've seen some pretty good ones.
Wow, I wasn't really expecting the way it turned out. Totally amazing!!!
What an interesting take. Great original story! Well done. And Alison Williams is a honey...
Well done Capt. M! Really a good one aside from the Klingon characters and the very last line "the Cherokee never existed". Kinda hard to award the entire crew posthumously then. Otherwise excellent! Thank you!
GREAT FAN FILM! Great plot and very well acted out! Two thumbs up!
Great Job guys! Really a great fan film. Nice to see Vic and Will again
That bridge is a fantastic set. Well done to the builders.
This is an absolute fantastic video. 23:02 time of total amazement. The actors are on queue. Relatable. Loveable. Vic Mignogna as a Klingon... excellent addition. Glad to see him in action again after Star Trek Continues. The ending was a breath taking moment. I've rewatched this countless times. Good work. I'm proud of you all and privaliged to have found this gem of entertainment. Love you all and thanks for your contribution to the Star Trek Universe. Absoltuely amazing.
Well done Avalon! The spirit of Star Trek lives on with you and all involved. ❤🖖
One of the happiest 22 minutes of STAR TREK ever! Thank you!
That was the best Fan Fiction I have ever seen.
Well done.
That was a breathtaking episode in the best tradition of Star Trek TOS. Bravo!
Vic coming back is a VERY welcome thing to see! VERY well done!
Very good. The best I've seen to date. They successfully recreated the feel of the Original Series and I felt truly immersed in the plot.
Incredibly well done! Unlike most short fan films, you had me caring about the characters before the end. Great in-universe stuff exploring a potential early use of Romulan memory probes / mental controls, just as TOS did the early cloaking device. and a great take off on the Klingon trying to stop an early romulan peace treaty just as the romulans try to disrupt the klingon peace in that TNG episode with geordi and the brain washing / modified visor. the acting was even ok. the actor playing the captain was even doing a pretty good shatner. had me guessing, imposter, mind meld? I was totally afraid when they got in the briefing room the first time the whole episode would end up being like a trial, but you kept it moving and even managed to get in some action into what's an unfortunately low limit from the fan film rules. well done!
Damn! This was such a Brilliant & Sad story! Well done to everyone involved in the production,R.i.P to the crew of the USS Cherokee,"We barely Got to Know,Her"
From one Jeff Johnson to another, well played sir! And well played to the cast and crew of this wonderful production.
I love this fan film! The acting was superb, and even the banter was pulled off naturally and didn't feel awkward like it can do with some fan films. The actors and production crew are amazing, this could have been filmed as a parallel series to TOS, it's that good!
SPOILER: I was starting to really like the characters and now you've killed them off. Do I laugh or cry? Please bring them back. ST rarely has a sad ending, so that was a most unexpected twist. There's a lot to take in as the story telling, sets, CGI, costumes, acting, etc, is so polished, then the bombshell at the end! Wow! Congratulations Avalon Universe, this was an incredible production. (I'm cautious about saying it was a truly professional production in case CBS raise their eyebrows!)
prequels!!!
Thank you. It was AWSUM to watch this while we were in production
when the xo said “now”, it sent chills down my spine. best episode yet!!!!!
very well done, both acting and tech
When something is well written and played out perfectly especially the special effects it just seems to go by to fast congratulations to everyone.
Yes. This looks like it cost a bundle to produce.
I was blown away. Really amazing job with a great story and acting. Super impressed :)
Wow, I can't usually watch most fan films, but that was brilliant in every way. Thankyou.
Wow! Glad to see a new breed of fan films, similar to Star Trek Continues, is back. I'm not going to debate the official TV shows that are currently on the air. Some people enjoy them and some don't and that's ok. But, I enjoy the fan films which stick to the canon we established during the TOS era and I'm glad someone is expanding on it once again.
This was really well done. Loved it.
What a fantastic film! The sets were insanely good and could have been taken straight from the original series. This grounded the film as it was immediately familiar. The tone was exactly how I remembered the OS, how they used to switch from levity to serious in a beat. The writing was good and despite having several characters, all of them were adequately serviced. Well done to everyone involved.
The other night Strange New Worlds episodes one and two were on CBS. I recorded them both and decided to give it a try. I barely got through the first episode and deleted the second. This was not Star Trek. It was science fiction. What I just watched here was Star Trek. It had the look of Star Trek, the acting and writing were very well done. I'm subscribed! 🖖
This is next level! Bravo.
Fine photography work using TOS hallmark camera angles, great special effects and a surprising story line. Super job!
Fabulous! What a poignant ending! Love the fact that I didn't even notice that Vic played Ja'Drok til the credits. What a wimpy voice, almost Ferengi-like. He had to work really hard to go unnoticed like that, and such humility to play the lowest of the low.
Wow. That hit hard. Real Trek made by people who love Trek and know how to tell a story. Well done!
This Star Trek fan film truly deserves to live in history. Thank you, Avalon Fan Films. 🖖🏻🖖🏼🖖🏽🖖🏾🖖🏿
Extra special, deeply satisfying. Bravo. Perfect in every way.
One of the best episodes yet!
AGREED.
You Fan Based stories are so much better than anything that paramount or who ever is control now could ever tell. I Beg of You all. Please, live long and prosper! For You tell Masterpieces of story telling!!! THANK YOU for working so hard!
Excellent! Seemingly obvious plot that weaves a more intricate subplot seamlessly into the dialogue. Plus it waw fun to see Vic Mignogna as the Klingon officer. Well done!
I am not quite as enamored of this as others seem to be, but for Trek it was pretty decent, and as a fan film, outstanding. That was not 23 minutes of my life I'll never get back. It was 23 minutes of a good story well told, and well worth watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Superb. This is highly watchable Trek!
That was GREAT! Truly an exceptional effort, and we need, and deserve, a lot more Trek like this!
However, when my youngest sister was in high school she once asked me to help her rehearse lines for a play. She spoke them like most amateur actors: like she was acting. I stopped her and told her to say her lines again, but this time to speak them the way that she, herself, would say them; magic happened. I told her to rehearse them that way, and then after getting used to it, she could add whatever character quirks it might need.
That said, I'm subscribing!
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!! Wow and Sad! Stunned!!! That touched me.
So well done. Every character is appealing. I would want much more from this crew.....hard to lose them.
I want more of the crew of the USS Cherokee also. They can do episodes before this incident.
@@kerry-j4m Yes, prequels please 🙏
Wow that was truly epic. So well done on every level, thanks to all involved. It would be a shame to let such great characters and cast go to waste, what better way to honor Cherokee and her crew than to feature more stories of their exploits leading up to this point? Again, thank you for such an incredible story! 👍👍🖖🖖
Wow! What a sad but powerful tale about war and it's consequences.
RIP USS Cherokee. You were Heroes.
INDEED!! & WELL DONE!!
Excellent Job Grace, I am so proud of you. Commander gave the order but you had to push the button Lt. Matthewson.
This is the best fan story I’ve ever seen. I was riveted the entire time. Sometimes the only decisions are hard ones and there is no happy ending.
That was really, really good. Some of the better acting in a Trek fan film, good special effects, and characters acting with understandable motivations.
Wow, best Fan Film I have seen since Star Trek Continues ended, great job Vic and crew! You made me care about a crew I never knew existed 20 minutes ago and brought a tear to my eye.
Well done..Kudos to all involved in the making of this 🙏🙏🙏..
Really well done. I expected their bacon saved, but instead it got fried. That was crazy cool. May they all rest in peace.
A good story, mature dialogue, and better acting than one expects from fan fiction. Really superior.
"What are you? 12?" 😂 Best one I have seen in a while, top notch, well done.
Wow!
This was excellent. Thank you.
Brilliantly done, loved the story and the characters top marks
WTF! WOW... Great Fan Pic, probably the best one I have ever seen! So many layers, great job crew!
Dang, that was pretty dam good.. Nice work..
An excellent and moving example of the darker side of Startrek, where heroism and devotion to duty do not guarantee personal survival,or even a record of such sacrifice. A very real reminder that many such sacrifices have been made in our world. They deserve the highest Honour.
Excellent! Great writing, acting, SFX, editing, costuming... Great job all around. Not that other films from the Avalon universe were bad, but this one really took me aback with the quality.
That was fantastic! Most original story I've seen in a long time. Thank you and great job.
Great acting and great story! But the epilogue got me to thinking about something Picard said. Picard said "The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based. And if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don't deserve to wear that uniform!". The coverup of the ultimate sacrifice of the USS Cherokee goes against the "truth"! Star Fleet said it was to prevent a war, but was it really to cover up the "embarrassment" of Star Fleet being tricked by the Romulans? OK, enough "theory crafting"! Well done everyone!!!
Ah, I remember Picard saying that and in others moments telling the hard truth. My own comment touched on the same issue though from the "It is harder to lie then tell the truth" approach. No lie is perfect and can be felt so it is eventually uncovered. Then, by that time the damage can be even worse.
This was a good film and I hope they do more.
An interesting conundrum. What is more important? The truth, or preventing a war?
Is lying about the fate of 430 Starfleet officers and crewmen, worse than a war that would kill millions?
This was freakin awesome!
Wonderful story, really great acting, camera work, special effects, tension, pacing and and and. Wow, that was the best trek I saw in a long time. Wow, wow, WOW!!!
Thank you so much!
Amazing , and good to see Vic back in the trek universe. To the stars we go
This was GREAT! One of the best fan films of all times! I can't thank you enough for this.
What great uniforms and an attractive cast!
Star Trek: The Geriatric Botox Generation.
Everything looks great except the cast who are far too old
Speechless. This is what Star Trek should be about. Incredible job everyone. Maybe Paramount can learn from your example. TOS was the best of us, even more so than TNG.
In other words, CBS/Paramount should take notes. This one reminds me of when TOS aired on NBC.
Simply perfect! A well written story! Goods stories don't need high costs! I hope you bring more little gems like this one! Congrats to everyone there!
