You guys are so humble and polite. It truly is amazing. So refreshing when you consider the attitudes of other young people on social media. Your parents must be so proud of you. Clearly they have raised you correctly. It is amazing that all seven of your boys team were sub 15. I also love the way all of you emphasize the importance of your education. As you develop into great young men, having a well-rounded identity is so important. You guys are living in a situation that has never occurred in the past. I look forward to all of your videos, and the more I learn about you, the more impressed I become. There is no doubt that your futures will continue to result in success.
An interview 3-4 months ago , Leo said "I think this year we're really gonna shock a lot of people." Congratulations on an outstanding finish to a really great cross season. Great MileSplit interview. You guys and the rest of NP showed the importance of respecting one another as a team.
You guys have become a major inspiration for a lot of runners!!! Good Luck in Track. I can't wait to see record's fall! Next fall's XC is going to be insane!!!
The 7th fastest boy on this high school team ran sub 15 minutes on a cross country course. The COLLEGIATE record for U.S. women, on a track is 15:02. The single best college woman performance ever, on a track, is slower than the slowest boy on the Newbury Park high school team, running on grass and ruts, up and down hills. And still some people believe a guy who declares he’s a girl that just happens to be trapped in a guy’s body doesn’t have any advantage over actual girls.
I come back to this video a lot and I appreciate this comment. Unbelievable how ACTUAL women train their whole lives for their own competition, then a man who bitches out of correct competition gets to win and celebrates it. It’s disgusting so I agree with you
I’m in the same grade as you guys and it’s cool to see how far you both have come. During freshman year my pr for 3 miles was 16:49 and I remember following how fast you guys were running and being pretty amazed. Glad you guys make videos, you should post a video of you surfing at some point

U guys ran great! Btw i think I’ve heard your coach talk about how all of the little things are what really improve running, so is there anything in specific that comes to mind which has helped you guys run better?
Sleep, diet, and other exercises like resistance band exercises are some things that help you a lot. You need the body to support the engine so doing leg exercises to target specific areas really helps.
I am no expert though only know this because of my coach so make sure you talk to your coach or another trusted individual about what you can do to get better.
Very cool behind the scenes look at an amazing race and program. You guys do a great job with these videos. Your coaches and parents are doing an awesome job supporting you as well, never take them for granted. It's great to see so much positive energy with your XC program. Stretch and Refuel Immediately Post-Race. ... Find a Routine, Then Stick to It. ... Don't Freak Out If You're Undertrained. ... Fix Your Stride. 1. START WITH SHORT RUNNING INTERVALS Are you super-excited to start your running training? As a new runner, you shouldn’t plan on running the entire distance in one go. “Break it down into intervals and try to keep them short at the beginning. Don’t be ashamed to walk between the intervals so you can recover a little,” recommends Sascha Wingenfeld. After some time, you can start lengthening the running sections and reducing the walking: begin by alternating between 2 minutes of jogging and 2 minutes of walking. Increase your running intervals by one minute per workout until you can run the entire distance at a stretch without having to walk. 2. DON’T START OUT RUNNING TOO FAST Your body has to get used to the new stresses and strains of running. Many beginner runners start out jogging too fast and pay the price for this mistake within just a few minutes. Frustration, overexertion, pain or even injuries are just some of the consequences. Therefore, start running at a moderate pace (i.e. where you can easily hold a conversation). “Even when you feel like cutting loose, you should maintain the same pace for the entire distance. Only those who give their body time to gradually get used to the new demands will have long-term success.” 3. YOUR BODY NEEDS TIME TO RECOVER Your first run went well and you want to head out again right away? Great! 🙂 But you should wait a day before attempting the next workout: your body needs to rest so it can recover from the first running session. “It must adapt to the new demands on the cardiovascular system and prepare your muscles and bones for the next run,” says Sascha. Schedule your training so you run one day and rest the next. This simple training plan can help beginner runners achieve the greatest training effect and avoid overuse injuries. 4. RUN EASY AND TAKE SHORT STEPS Running is a technically challenging sport. Many beginners don’t have the proper technique and make jogging harder than it has to be by wasting a lot of energy. Your body develops the coordination necessary to perform the complex sequence of movements with every kilometer or mile that you run. “Try to run relaxed and in good form. Short, easy steps are more effective than long, powerful strides that act as a brake, slowing your forward momentum with every footfall.” 5. CHOOSE THE RIGHT SURFACE Many running beginners wonder what kind of surface they should be running on. “That depends on the particular workout.” As is often the case, a mix of different surfaces is the right choice: Running on asphalt pavement is ideal for fast running - there is very little danger of turning your ankle. “However, it’s hard on your joints because the pavement does not cushion your steps,” explains Sascha Wingenfeld. “Therefore, running on this surface is only for very light runners with good form.” A forest or park floor is soft and provides excellent cushioning. However, the risk of injury increases due to roots, rocks and bumps. A sandy surface trains your muscles and makes you lift your feet. But be careful because it’s easy to overwork your calf muscles. Tartan (an all-weather synthetic track surface) is springy. One drawback: it puts a lot of stress on your Achilles tendon. The treadmill allows you to train year round with good cushioning. “However, this type of running training requires you to alter your form because the belt moves beneath your feet.”
