I did a 17 mile run this morning east of Flagstaff with 9 miles at marathon effort and those maurten gels plus water are a lifesaver especially in this heat. The temperature reached about 87 degrees when I finished and I started at 6:30 am. With that in mind, I plan to get a small folding table so I can place it on the side of the road or trail and have my mini hydration station so I can grab my water while running.
Great advice. I would add that for those in parts of the country where the summer temperatures will be 90 degrees or higher, it would make sense to run in the cooler parts of the day, which is usually the morning, say 9 am; and don't push yourself too hard.
One of the toughest parts for me is the boredom I can sometimes get when I run long distances without friends and that hinders me a lot sometimes. This track season of my junior year is one I'm finally finding motivation for and am properly preparing for. I'm hoping to maybe break out of the middle of the pack and be a frontrunner now that all of our district championship team has graduated. One thing I haven't done is break 5:00 for my 1600 but that's what I hope to do this season, and from there hopefully just improve little by little and get where I want to be. This channel has definitely helped me find more ways to keep motivation and make training more fun for me! Keep up the great work!
These tips help me train a lot better and I’m working hard to get to Big Bear to train on altitude. You guys have always been a great channel to enjoy. Keep up the great work!
@@LLexandleovloggs Hello Lex and Leo just wondering if you guys have a list for some of the best trails to run on in flagstaff. I will be up there this Sunday for about a month and wanted to hear your inputs. Thanks ❤
In CT it is so humid you sweat 5 pounds off on 7 mile tempo, your shorts and briefs are drenched, your shoes are still wet the next day. Where you dudes are looks fresh as hell. That swim alone would make my summer. Great tips.
What should i do in the summer if im training for xc im 11 years old. Should i do any cross-training? i usually do biking and sometimes swimming. Pls respond. I dont mind if you respond late. Hope you have a good day. ❤
I would not worry too much, go for runs, cross train if it makes you smile, but most of all focus on having fun and enjoying the sport. Keep working at it slowly and train at an intensity that is sustainable for you and it will probably yield great results over time.
Love this summer series so far can’t wait for more of the videos of the series Great video keep up the good work! If you could respond that would make me so happy!
Do you guys ever get low inspiration when it comes to running? And how do you deal with that? Love and respect your guys videos so much, can't wait to see what you guys will accomplish in college!
Hey lex and Leo I’ve been watching you guys for a while now and you guys have really inspired me, right now I’m in 7th grade and run the 2 mile. My personal record is 14:19 but I’m looking to bring that down to 13 something. I was wondering if you have and tips to get faster in the 2 mile. Also I was wondering if I should get the bike vapor flys or the hoka Clifton 9s, which do you think?
Do speed training at your 2 mile pace such as 400/800 repeats, increase your mileage gradually if not already to 30+ miles at your age will put you far ahead of most other kids.
Those firefly things are incredibly expensive, there’s no way an average family can afford them, especially if there’s 2 on each leg. There’s got to be a better option

Question, how do you make sure you don't overhydrate? I feel like > 1 gallon of water per day could risk overhydration (not medically dangerous, just not benefiting as much from the hydrating properties of water). You guys should check out Andrew Huberman's talk about optimal hydration. I think he recommends like sipping consistently throughout the day and not a lot of swigging and gulping.
Have you guys tried the XC dragonfly’s yet? If so I’d love to hear your opinion on them even though they’re probably practically the same as the regular dragonflys
They’re pretty much the same, just a little bit more durable and stable. They do weight a little bit more as well, but I think that it’s worth the added durability and stability.
any free time you have during your day , try to make time for it . if you can , get to bed earlier the night before & train earlier in the morning before you head to work or train in the evening when you get off
L&L is such a great channel for anyone who wants to learn about running. its great and such high quality!

How did you all get such smooth footage for the first pillar as Leo was walking! It looks AMAZING! Top notch editing 💪
That’s the gimbal. Those r the kinda shots we can do when we have more time in the summer and the support of the brands

Do you guys do lifting sessions or go to the gym for strength training?
Could’ve used this a week ago😂 I’m from fl and came back from camp gassed after the hills and elevation. But the weather was so nice.

1. Run with friends
2. Don't run as much. Do some gym work for variety
3. Run at new areas

Vaporflys and Clifton’s are opposite shoes. Vaporflys are for fast days and Clifton’s are for the opposite.
Do speed training at your 2 mile pace such as 400/800 repeats, increase your mileage gradually if not already to 30+ miles at your age will put you far ahead of most other kids.
