Nice to see such high quality footage of these birds! There are a lot of blackbirds where I live and there must be a nest (or several) around because the chatter from the chicks is almost constant throughout the day. It's actually a bit annoying at times! :P I'm not totally sure they are blackbird chicks though, but I'm assuming since I hear blackbirds singing every morning around the building in the summer. Do all chicks sound pretty much the same? I love the song of a mature blackbird though. So beautiful.
They fall from nests, also, bigger birds prey for eggs and chick. I found one chick, 2 weeks old..looking like the ones in the nest, when he mentioned the disappearance..Looked for nest, waited for him to make sounds and call.. Nothing. He was weak, probably some time without food.. I took him in, fed him, till he got feathers..One week..then, went to same place, the park and waited to get used to dounds and everything..he jumped and ran.. They spend a lot of time on the forrest floor or other ground, looking for worms and insects.. Hope he survived. Saw that they leave pretty fast the nest..3 weeks
Thank you for the video! Very happy to see those youngsters fledging successfully since so many nests are predated...

Lovely video; so sad that there are people who would destroy the nests.
Can be storm, wind..not all build resistant nests and in protected places. Also, could have been larger birds trying to get the chicks
Also who ate one chick?
Is it same one you did post in?
Maybe bIackbird noticed that it isn't his.

I was hoping you would raise that chick yourself.
I never seen a pet black bird. It would have been real cool to see.
Keiki Haniyasushin - I am not good with seeing things telepathically.
You could upload a video of it here on UA-cam though. That way I would see it.
Is it OK then to add an orphan chick to another nest like you did? I would have thought the parent would have noticed an imposter!
