Top stuff Daz, we use beef, pork, lamb and chicken strips, pack the strips on a 5/0 circle hook and hang on!! The pickers won't steal the bait (like cheese) and the bigger hungry fish just take it and hook themselves on the circle hooks, planted nicely in the corner of the jaw every time.
I have to try some of these ideas i keep hearing so many good things! A friend caught a 120cm cod a couple of weeks ago on a chicken strip at night so there's no doubting they work lol. Did you get up this way at all these holidays? It's very hot up here for camping atm
@@Outdoorsaustralia I managed to get up there for Cod Opening with the mates, first trip for a long time for me. We were just North of Strathmerton, to the right of Ulupna and best cod for the trip was 61cm, mine was 54cm and fishing was very quiet, lots of boats and campers everywhere. My mates are heading back up for Australia Day and staying a week but it's just too hot for me, anything over 30c and I'm cooked.

Yabbies at night, and I make a special blend of cheese for my bait.. got this running joke every year at cod opening,,, , "what style of bait cheese is Nicko bringing this year., Italian, aussie, American or Mediterranean!" 😂👌 It does work well. Any cheese. I just like to experiment. 🇦🇺🐟🤟

What would Line, Rod and reel would I use to fight a murray cod so I don't get snapped off. I have a cod rod but that's a baitcaster
We use 30 to 50 pound braided fishing line, it helps to use stronger than normal line around timber so you get your lures back if snagged.

Yellow belly fight harder than cod sometimes so I'd stick with the stronger line around timber

Awesome vid ! The mozzarella cheese with a touch of parmesan cheese is good. Maybe its the smell / taste of the parmesan in it , i don't know
