Decker's Candyman vs Leprechaun pitch is something I genuinely would have wanted to see. Hindsight, imagination, and fanfiction can be better than reality.
Eh, Leprechaun would wreck Chucky, considering Chucky is just a voodoo possessed doll, so all I can see is Leprechaun flicking his fingers and sending Chucky into every wall of a building, before finally sending him into a wood chipper.
For Candyman Vs Leprechaun, an easy way to have them intermingle with each other is actually rather simple. Candyman begins hunting a new spouse, or somehow get the original actress to return as he pines to be with her... until then the Leprechaun appears aiming to make her his one and only bride; a battle ensuring for the "affection" of their true loved one.
I'm loving these speculative discussions about potential Leprechaun movies. I would love to hear more about other franchises that had similar almost-to-the-screen scripts that had been thrown out!
It would have been a cool episode of Friends if they had a St. PATRICK'S DAY episode with Warwick Davis being a special guest star playing as himself and as The Leprechaun
Warwick had his own pitch, on the Jonathan Ross interview he said that he talked to Johnny Depp to play a pirate in a Leprechaun movie where the Lep's gold is discovered by pirates. Warwick wanted Depp to play a parody of Jack Sparrow.
That would actually work as a movie. A pirate Leprechaun? Come on! It's brilliant. They would search for a treasure of gold and they would steal Leprechaun from his ship and he would fire at them with torpedoes, blow them up or have a sword fight. Also, his outfit in Leprechaun 6 looks the most "Pirate" looking uniform anyway, so go with something like that.
There's some wild ass ideas thrown around when it comes to movies lol. Most of the time we get the most watered down version suitable for mass audiences.
I totally buy Warwick wanting to do a family leprechaun film since it would afford him a chance to spotlight fellow little people performers. Heck, he might’ve found a cast through his own Willow Management
The best crossover would be Leprechaun v Friends, a leprechaun "New Nightmare" where the Leprechaun becomes self aware and hunts down the original actors from the 1st movie.
If it was the Leprechaun being brought into the darker world of the Candyman, and Clive Barker writes and directs it, I would watch it, if only to give him funding to maybe make The Scarlet Gospel or maybe get clout for more funding and make Imajica or Weaveworld, or even maybe make a series of Abarat... we are finally at a state in CGI and practical effects mix that it may not take a billion dollars to do those justice on film lol (maybe even finally a sequel to Cabal)
The candyman one could simply chalk up to the Lep wanting to smelt the pocket watch to a gold coin, breaking it, killing the curse instead of just the Lep not wanting to destroy it
I started to write a Leprechaun fan fic some time ago, but never finished it. I was actually inspired by that Leprechaun Family pitch after first hearing about it. Basically my story was that a medieval family finds some cursed gold, but by taking it they have forfeited their souls becoming leprechauns. They fight over the gold, a few die, and the remaining members discover that their gold absorbs the souls of those they kill in turn making their magic stronger. That's about as far as I got, because I couldn't figure out where to go from there. My intent was to tie together all the films by explaining that each of the different leprechauns we see are actually part of this same family. But again I couldn't figure out how to continue the story with multiple leprechauns sharing the gold. I also toyed with the idea of having them fight some Vikings after reading about a raid on an Irish settlement in 821. It seems to me almost too easy to come up with pitches for this series. Then again a good pitch doesn't always equal a good film, so maybe it's for the best we didn't get any of these.
During the old west, Irish immigrants were generally treated as second class citizens due to their religious beliefs. It definitely would've been something interesting to explore in a horror movie, offer up some social commentary on how it can relate to modern day prejudices. In fact, that idea sounds *TOO* highbrow for the Leprechaun franchise, so maybe that's why the idea was dropped.
More like too high brow for Hollywood as that would be showing that white people are actually diverse and can be oppressed, while Hollywood prefers only showing oppression of black people. Hence why we have at least a dozen films on black oppression each year, regardless of the fact oppression has happened to other groups. Indentured Servants were used before and used longer than Africans, but also were a mixed bag of ethnic groups from different countries, yet they don't get dozens of films each year.
I love lore vids about movies, especially lesser known ones, and it really helps how animated and passionate you are when you are talking about movies. I want more of this stuff actually. Hell, i used to read the post credit trivia you used to put in your older vids.
These are great! The (respectfully) quick and sloppy animations are a great touch of charm. Hope to see more. The reviews are the best, but these horror cinema related side projects are great, AND imformative.
Do more endings like this Decker, it is very tempting to click on another video when you’re just standing there waiting for me to make a choice. Kind of reminds me of “A Heist with Markiplier” lol Which is a good thing. Keep up the good work!
One Idea I remember hearing was Leprechaun vs the Wishmaster. That actually would've been kind of interesting to see. A sort of East meets West of asshole Supernatural Wishgranting beings. It would be kind of funny to see the more serious Jinn clash with the playful and mischievous Leprechaun. Granted the Leprechaun would've probably been out of his weightclass since the Jinn can't be destroyed no matter what you do to him but on the other hand the Jinn can't actually hurt you as long as you don't say anything that can be considered a wish Still it would be a fun idea to explore.
While it makes sense that Leprechaun hasn't been added to Dead by Daylight (too short to work within the game's mechanics), the fact that Candyman hasn't been added is confusing. You can't say that he's not mainstream enough, since he's had a movie somewhat recently that was heavily promoted (at least more than Phantasm V was). You also can't say that it's because of lore reasons, because they managed to make Sadako and Freddy Krueger work. Maybe the rights holders flat out refused, but that's the only reason I can think of.
@@GODCONVOYPRIME Definitely not. It can't attack someone without killing them, it can't be stunned by pallets, and it certainly can't carry Survivors around to lift onto hooks.
I'd be down to watch more videos like this from you, like make it your Unmade movies series, especially with freddy vs jason vs ash williams we never got
Leprechaun Sitcom Dad: "OMG GRANDPAP HOW COULD YE DO THAT TO MAH BOSS!!" Sitcom Boss: “Actually, you know what, i'm glad Grandpa assaulted me. You know Leppy, we could use that kind of old-fashioned initiative from you at the workplace” [Sitcom Boss proceeds to hire Grandpa in a position in charge of Leprechaun]
Another great wild info video dude! I know youve never covered Chronicle, but if you ever do there is a complete script that was never accepted you could check out for the sequel. Dont over do yourself on these second vids but really love the extra tidbits of info of things that could have been!
You know what, Decker? You should pitch your Perfect Horror Movie in one of these videos. Or maybe your Perfect Slasher Movie, the perfect monster movie, perfect psychological horror movie
Gotta say, diggin how the second weekly upload is related to the summer thing. Can't be easy to make such a dense subject sound so freeform conversational, but I love the final product. BTW, I think a Leprecandy movie could also be made by leaning into the 'stories have power' text of Candyman. Lean into the true folklore, the 'stories say this is what kills him so this is what will work' idea of CM (neatly explaining the wildly differing versions), highlight the more creepy aspects Lep had in the first movie and since he's an elf there is bound to be some tales that say that coming within 2 kilometers of an apid will make his toenails leak out through his nose or something. Think like a more focused version of American Gods. Hell, fork over a decent budget to get Neil Gaiman to write it, emphasize that you want REAL horror and you would have a slasherfairytale A24 as well as lionsgate would sacrifice their entire staff for. Edit: thinking of American Gods, either set it in the West or make it a duology. Now I wish I was rich so I could commision Gaiman for that story.
the western leprechaun pitch actually does sound like it could have worked! I mean what genre / movie/tv series didnt do some kind of western theme at once once?
Your idea for the Candyman crossover is perfect. I want you to do nothing BUT horror crossovers. Also, I need to hear your ideas for Wishmaster vs Leprechaun
Love to formats you're trialing! This one reminds me of Internet Historian read-thrus. Great Voice work and video edits. This in a week along with your reviews are treats to look forward to.
What about... Leprechaun III: 3x me Shilling Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) vs Leprechaun (Lindon Porco) vs "Leprechaun" (Hornswoggle) and you can even have it in LV with the cheesy tagline "Place your bets" from the Freddy Vs Jason trailer.
Wishmaster vs Leprechaun could be a fun one as instead of pitting them against each other in a straight fight you could have them challenge each other to a wish off with both racking up the victims separately to begin with.
You know, as I look at this, I keep thinking of this idea I've had for almost a year about someone making a docuseries based on unmade films of any genre and what info the people associated with said unmade films could bring. Idk who would pitch that idea to a service or network but its not a terrible idea if you think about it.
Chucky vs. Leprechaun is something I need in my life. How was that never made?? Those 2 little bastards would be entertaining as hell. One using voodoo while the other uses leppy magic. Perfect.👌
Could see a Leprechaun vs Candyman, soon as you said it I thought of an old mirror made from gold slightly change up the one he was bound to for a movie.
*The Leprechaun vs Candyman could be done by someone summoning Candyman while in possession of a gold coin. The whole movie is them fighting each other while trying to get the kill.*
Candyman Vs. Leprechaun easily could've been good, hell I could even see a Leprechaun Vs. Jason film where a idiot finds Leprechaun's gold and takes it to Crystal Lake, where the Leprechaun takes on Jason to get to his gold. Still waiting on the Jason Vs. Michael Myers film though, since there's so much potential in these crossovers if done right.
There's only ONE villain the Lep has any business swingin' with, and that's Freddy. Maybe They make each other more powerful and he's cruisin' around crackin' jokes while they run people down, or maybe she DRAINS his powers and keeps him captive as her new owner-- because she's fallen in love with him. What if her possession started to slowly turn him into a human or an even angrier psycho or something? I mean, there could be SOMETHING there, I dunno why it feels right but it does.
Also why didn't we see more of the old timey medieval looking leprechaun setting from the third movie, That could be interesting to see leprechaun try to kill a king for taking his gold 🤣
