Funny enough my friend and I watch Leprechaun and the sequels while getting absolutely shitfaced on St Patrick's day every year and we asked that very question how much was the gold worth? And we more or less figured out how much the 100 gold coins were worth So gold was worth $360.05 an ounce in 1993 so figuring the coins weighed 1 troy ounce a piece so roughly 36 Grand and gotta be honest doesn't feel remotely worth the bullshit of fighting a magical leprechaun to get it
What type of gold are you using as a reference? 24 karat or 14 karat? Anyway, I always thought that the gold is magical and therefore special and therefore worth more. Mayby there is more than it seems or it can duplicate or something.
You're the living proof that one can make professional YT videos while delivering honest and creative content with tasteful self-advertisement, bravo ! And thanks for the Summer Special, yours are one of the best things about summer !
The first movie brought in all the D&D Players and other nerdy lore nuts, with all the Leprechaun superstitions accurately. And it was all played straight. it would not have worked without Warrick Davis. and then lead to all the sequels
Yeah, Lep in the Hood is probably the best so bad it's good movie ever made. An absurd premise that's not being taken seriously, but still has a ton of effort being put into it.
8:17 how skeptical do you have to be to see a rainbow in the middle of a dry day, physically follow the end of it, find gold, and STILL not believe your dumb friend saw a leprechaun?
I spent the whole video hoping this was going to turn into a summer series. Considering how nuts this franchise gets, I can't wait for your videos on them!
I love Warwick David's performance which makes the movie series. The movie spawned many sequels due to a surprise cult hit at theaters for the original and video rentals-sales for the sequels. I think it spawned a series due to being the studio (Trimark)'s biggest hit and being unique at its time (the 1990s).
just realized how the movie rules were changed in Leprechaun 3. Jennifer got scratched, her dad got bitten but never changed into a Leprechaun.. as the main male character did. Anyways... great review as always. Hope that you're taking time out to relax and recover.
You did Pumpkinhead, an unknown weird horror franchise from my childhood I thought was forgotten. Doing Leprechaun feels like completing the 80s vibe. Thanks, Hair Man!
well, except Leprechaun came out in the early 90s. Leprechaun & Wishmaster were in what I consider to be the bronze age of slasher films with Wishmaster being a personal favorite of mine (which Decker thankfully has already covered, and one series I hope will return with a proper 3rd entry, so we can wash the bad taste of 3 & 4 out of our mouths).
@Adolf Hitler No you are right, most modern horror movies are just forgettable, and I can't remember the last of the slasher genre that was good. Overall I think Virus from 99 was really the end of the era for horror classics, or at least ones with that oldschool vibe with grainy footage and fun practical effects. There's still some good horror movies like Color Out of Space and The Lighthouse from recent but they're definitely few and far between.
This is my first “summer of” that I’m going to watch from the begging since I started watching your channel and this time last year and I just about screamed out in joy with everyone sleeping in my house when that line hit keep it up dude, love your content
Now all we need is childs play eventually cant wait for leprechaun 3 and 4 idc how bad they are there so awesome its unreal me and my brothers wasted so much money renting these movies back in the day mom shudve jus bought them lol
@@relicdad88 I probably rented the one where he goes to Las Vegas 100x as a kid 😂 By the time he got to space, I was mostly over the series, but Ive followed Decker for a while now and that has always been my one request: Do the Leprechaun series 😅
Oof, nice reveal of a new "Summer of" series! Im really glad Decker is finally doing this franchise. Not too long ago, i could have sworn he had reviewed one of these movies but when i searched for it i was surprised to find he never did.
As a child I quickly learned that 4 leaf clovers are basically 1 every square meter. How a leprechaun could even move at all in Ireland is a riddle in itself.
And he eventually makes it out into outer space and he goes to the hood, twice. And the one when he goes to the hood I actually thought Ice T was a pretty funny over the top character in that movie.
In my head it works on werewolf rules and the guy bitten by the leprechaun that we never see again is somewhere slowly transforming into a leprechaun himself.
I liked this movie cause it was supposedly a "scary" movie that family would say until I saw it for sure and it was just funny and enjoyable soft core horror haha
The first one is like you said a fun horror comedy. I remember seeing this in theaters as a kid with my mom and we laughed through it. But how it got so many sequels is insane.
“Im just gonna name drop the most Irish UA-camr I know, call me Kevin” haha my guy mentioning my favourite UA-camr, I’m subscribing just for that alone
Glad to see you doing well Decker Shado and I couldn't be happier to see you covering this franchise! This is 90s horror at its finest until they run it into the ground with 10 million sequels😭🤣
That bit with the knockoff cereal, turns out that they originally was gonna have a Lucky Charms tie in, but they pulled out at the last min. It also explains the tag line from Alex when he says, "Screw you, Lucky Charms!" before shooting that 4 leaf clover into his mouth.
I've been following you since your xenomorph in detail video (sorry can't think of the exact title) Its been awhile since I've checked out your newer videos and I'm glad I did.(nothing you did or didn't do, I work alot and have been spending electronic time on streaming services) You are one in a million and I'm glad you're still kicking ass.
What was the fate of the bag-o-gold at the end ? Did Willow hide it in the barn while he sought the last coin. Also, from the size of them, the 'coins' looked to be around 2.5-3 oz. each. for what it's worth.
Oh and decker with exceptions of "the Hood" Leprechaun films and Leprechaun Returns each film is a Stand alone film about a different Leprechaun strangely enough all played by warwick davis until Leprechaun Returns
Yes yes yes Just what I needed before I head into work. Something to look forward to today. Thank you for the upload. I hope things have been settling down at home and that it didnt spread.
I went to a special midnight St Patrick's day screening of this absolutely blasted on Guinness, which is the best possible way to watch this movie as an adult. Jokes aside, I have a genuine love for ol' Leppy boy - an unusual monster, creative (if goofy) gore, and a cast of simple but all relatively likeable main heroes who all live! Fairly unique in the annals of horror I'd say.
I was momentarily confused when I got the notification for the video because I was so certain Decker had already reviewed Leprechaun. Then I realized I was thinking about Ryan Hollinger covering it. You know, because the two creators are so alike 😅😂😂.

36k in 1993? Hell, what would that be worth in 2022 dollars? 150k?
Or half a million in 2023 dollars.
@Adolf Hitler I'd fight two leprechauns for a Klondike bar

Hmmm with the timeframe of this and the fact this is normally the time decker does his summer reviews.... i'm gonna guess its the SUMMER OF LEPRECHAUN
I knew it , now we get lot of Tom Cruise movies , when top gun sequel is out :-)
You called it
when I first saw the puppet master review, I thought he was starting the summer early, lol.

Warwick Davis was the backbone of this franchise.
so true
The first movie brought in all the D&D Players and other nerdy lore nuts, with all the Leprechaun superstitions accurately. And it was all played straight. it would not have worked without Warrick Davis. and then lead to all the sequels
The moral of the movie: DO NOT STEAL FROM THE IRISH!!!!
Glad you're doing better decker
Don’t steal from anyone period.
@@lightingboy1001 but then how will I play GTA Online if I'm not supposed to steal from anyone?!
Gosh dang it! There goes my weekend gaming binge! 😉😀
Omg! that leprechaun impersonation had me rolling. Glad your feeling alright, don't push yourself to hard.
These movies are hit or miss but Warwick is easily the best part of the series.
Thank you for doin this series also I hope you're feeling better
Warwick Davies is an English treasure and should be protected at all costs.

The true gold here lies within Decker himself.

I believe they do that in the third movie, a guy gets bitten and starts slowly turning into a tall Leprechaun

"No, but there's FREEDOM!" that killed me. Great review, Derek Shado
Warrick davis did a fantastic job as the leprechaun. I don’t think you can play a much better leprechaun than he did. The first one is a classic
I'm aware of three posters for this movie made over the years and as Jennifer Annistan becomes more famous the larger her presence in said posters.
Warwick Davis is fantastic as the evil leprechaun. 😀👍🍀
I agree
Ok, remember... Summer of Keanu next year. You've got like 2 series to work with and plenty of schlock... also the movie he directed.
Leprechaun strangely feels like a wholesome family horor movie
right

Warwick Davis IS the Leprechaun franchise.
Your reviews and humor always makes me smile. Love how you are editing yourself into the movies, hilarious!
It may not be the best franchise...but you can tell no matter what Warwick Davis is having a fucking BLAST with this role

5:36 Jennifer rocking that 90's LA Gear. Nostalgia.
Warwick also played a leprechaun before, in a very unlucky leprechaun named Lucky.

Leprechaun takes place in the Slasherverse.
What would happen if the leprechaun from Lucky Charms was a fanboy of Ted Bundy.
