    I have a TB16 thunderblot dock but I can not update the firmware since I do not have an XPS. How do I do that?

    Why do you had to reboot the laptop after the firmware update of the DS? Because you updated some Laptop drivers at the same time? Are they required for an DS update? I don't want users to reboot machines.

    Am I able to update the Thunderbolt DOCK 15 if I do NOT have a DELL laptop? I wish to use it on a MacBook running OSX. which cannot recognize the Dock.

    I have a WD15 dock that i use in a non dell machine and i need to upgrade it, but when i execute the firmware installer an error message that says "could not get system information" appears, is there a way to update the firmware from a non dell machine?

      So what happened? How did you upgrade it? This dock has been a piece of garbage since day one. I regret buying it 100%.

      @@Dell Called support and they aren't willing to provide support. Why is dell blocking a firmware update from a non-dell machine.

      @@Fishwithadeagle same. I have a t480 and i love the dock it's just been a pain not being able to use my monitor at 4k and have a 3rd monitor. And the charging problems

    I have run this Firmware Update Utility 5 times... I can never get it to say "up to date". It still shows old version :-( When the utility asks me to reboot and I do so... It just reboots back into windows and I'm not "inside" the update tool anymore.... it's like it just reboots and does... nothing.

    Hi. Thanks for great video. Have any one observed this: dell tb16 error reading multistream hub transport HUBx2!! I have follwed DELL's guide in order, but when trying the TB16 Firware update utility, it starts for 6-9%, goes white(blank) and the this error message shows up. How can I fix that?

    I have a dell laptop latitude 5490 and i use my wd15 dock without problems. I recently bought a surfacebook 3 which has usb c as well. It works with the wd15 dock, but it is kind of unstable. Sometimes it doesnt charge or it doesnt recognize the second monitor. Will it help download the driver in my laptop surfacebook 3?

    I would recommend not buying Dell thunderbolt docks. They work 20% of the time you put in the cable. The rest of the time Displays don’t work, usb don’t work or it does not charge. They are heavy, big and take up half your desk.

      WD15 - Improves the firmware update stability of the MST (Multi Stream Transport) hub.
      TB16 - Improves audio performance.
      - Improves Thunderbolt firmware support capability.
      - Improves MST (Multi Stream Transport) hub Firmware update stability.

    Will the WD15 work for a Dell XPS 13? I want to set dual monitors

      Yes, two monitors will work in this config provided they aren't high res -> 4K. 2 x 1920x1080 @60Hz is the sweet spot, the laptop display can be used as third display but only if cloned, not extended.

    I have a TB16. I downloaded the latest firmware for it but that firmware update utility never runs. I double click on it and nothing happens. I even tried running it from the command prompt, still nothing. Is there something I'm missing?

      Try running the application as an administrator. Right click app -> More -> Run as Administrator

    This is confusing and on mobile can't view the screen you are recording. Why does this require a dell computer to update. E-waste is what this dock is.

    I have both WD15 and TB16 with a Latitude 7490,
    I had no prob to update WD15 FW but I can't with TB16, it keeps asking me to install or update the Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver even though it IS the latest one ...
    I'm getting mad with this thing...

    Dell support for drivers/firmware updates is the biggest pain I ever see. On Lenovo website you simply connect and it works flawless most of the time. I´m struggling getting firmware folder with .bat files or folders where you can not run anything, no info on readme about how to install the firmware, more than a week now. Fighting to get my fingerprint reader to work, but it such a big mess of desorganization and not working endless processes. You can feel on the breath and on the tone of the voice of this guy on this video, his uncertainty and insecure about all he is talking about. what a shame for a big company like Dell.
