Do update your mobo bios. There's a nasty bug called logofail around. It attacks your bios. All three of my pcs have an update for it on their support site.
Great video, just purchased the AW3423DWF model and see there was a update in April. So glad I watched your video before updating. Good to know that i need to change some setting so it does not go into sleep mode etc.
I purchased this monitor used on eBay 8 months ago and travel on a plane with it as a checked baggage internationally (14 hour flight) Cali to Asia and still no problems. Damn near bulletproof lol
hopefully you see this, I have a samsung 4k gaming monitor. I have tried talking to them about it but keep going around in circles. There is no usb port to plug in a flash drive to update the firmware, Two hdmi ports and a dpi port i think. The last time I talk to them they mentioned something about a converter. I am assuming an adapter maybe hdmi/usb . Do you or any knows how i could try to update the firmware to the monitor?
@@bookoobeans Yes, but the buttons you see up and down the right side are across the bottom for me. Plus the Control Panel button isn't standard anymore with how the interface is being completely butchered.
e@@AKATEATime I agree M$ butchered the interface once again & haven't learned their lesson. It's very inefficient to use as it is now. Windows 10 brought a two-headed way of using the control panel too, resulting in a multiple-personality interface, completely inconsistent. They tried stupid UI changes with Windows Vista too. They have confused change with improvement.
I have a aw3423dw and I did all this and the update exe file still tells me that ''Monitor not detected. Ensure USB is connected and monitor is powered on.'' what is the problem
Did you fix it? Edit. I fixed it. You gotta use that weird usb upstream cable that came in the box with the monitor. I used a hub with it and it worked fine. Gl
Funny I found a bug in the firmware of my Dell monitor and they wont even help. They said they don't release firmware for users to update. The issue is when its on the left and is the primary monitor and if I launch a game and it ONLY happens in games, but if the game doesn't launch at native resolution (1440p) it will push what's behind the game over to the second monitor and what's on that monitor gets pushed off the right of the monitor... Now the lower the game resolution is the more it pushes... so if its close to 1440p very little will push over. Tried and tried to find other owners of this monitor to see if they have the same issue. Dell is useless and refused to help me after almost a year of back and forth. They wouldn't listen to me when they tried to replicate my setup...
Wouldn't be a bug in my view due to a certain configuration conflict involving the screen resolution as it may need custom configuration to fix that issue you're experiencing as you mentioned multi display setup
@@neddy1287 Oh no its a issue with this monitor... I went through hell with Dell... It DOES NOT do it on any other of my monitors.... it happens on ANY PC or config and I tried them all.... You did not mention the most important part, you have to connect the USB cable before you can upgrade your firmware. I never use the USB ports on a monitor, because I have a usb hub that I use instead.
Very true. I set mine to never sleep but kept going to sleep because screen saver was enabled so I changed to disable screen saver and it sorted problem. Make sure screen saver is off .
Had no idea this was possible. Good video, Brian.

Should we have a update firmware ? can we work without update ?
Great video yet again top channel this!
4:06 That's not the stock start menu, is it? I don't see a way to configure the stock one to look like that...
Looks like Windows 11 to me.

I am connected via USC C to Display port...how should I connect the pc to the monitor for this? Thanks!
I need to know this aswell
Yeh like the guy above says. If nothings wrong don't bother. Manufacturers say the same.
Is the alienware Firmware updater also working on Mac?
How do u update the firmware if u play on console
You need a desktop or laptop PC.
If you get the latest firmware update is it cumulative so you don't have to sequentially install any prior updates leading up to it?

Can’t use the monitor menu

Guys, it is possible to update the HDMI's version of AW3418DW monitor? My monitor has the 1.4 version and I wanna update to the version 2.1

Can you update your Dell monitor with a laptop?

No, the update installs over DP/HDMI-Cable on this model.
Wrong, you don‘t need it
I’m surprised that it didn’t ask for any screen savers to be disabled.
when power options are set to never, you would not of got a screen saver anyway.

No built-in speakers in Dell's monitors - and i like that approach.
