I had a bad experience where I got latex stuck in my eyebrow and I found that olive or coconut oil works wonders if you apply it to the latex and leave it for a couple minutes, comes right out.
I’ve started learning how to cover brows and found out that oil make up remover works fine as long as I do it the way I remove my waterproof make up. I actually didn’t know how bad it could be using it on hairs, but that won’t stop me haha
If you are going to create a wound, before you apply any blood or red in the center, you want to apply either a very dark red or black to add depth. I've also found that if you add a fake freckle over the latex it helps to make it look a little more realistic. Also, before I put anything over the latex, I use a big fluffy brush and lightly powder baby powder over the entire area to stop the latex from sticking to itself.
Notice: If you use latex on like the bottom of your face and feel burning in your eyes, do not panic. The fumes from the latex will annoy your eye until it gets used to the latex. Edit: You make keep your eyes closed for a second and the irritation from the fumes will leave.
I had a big latex effect across the side of my face and down to my right shoulder. I didn't shave, but I place Vaseline before (although the latex does not stick as well) and soaked the latex in warm soapy water. Doing this really helped the removal process not be as painful and it didnt seem to remove any hair either.
I've always struggled with liquid latex and this helped so much!!! I could never use the latex and tissue method and make it look realistic until now x
"Liquid latex will rip out body hair," Does that mean I can be hairless as long as I do SFX? Cool, I'm in. Joking. I'm totally (probably not really) joking.
All you have to do with isopropyl myristate (no clue how to spell that) is apply it on a brush and get a corner on your prosthetic and put it under and swipe underneath it until it comes off which only takes a few seconds. It's not hard to use.
I also figured out that if you put vegetable oil not too much then it will help make the pain less painful and will prevent hair ripping off (if it doesn’t work then it’s probably me messing up not you)
There are newer brands that use no ammonia (or less) and they come off very easily with water and it doesn't rip out your hair! **Not saying she is wrong**
I did my first laceration in years the other day but I’ll try it your way to make sure I blend a bit better around the edges. Because the edges were noticeable I had to put some blood in those areas and it didn’t look right and certainly took away from the actual laceration. I mean I only stippled it around those edges but the blood didn’t need to be there. To me it didn’t medically make sense if that makes any sense at all and I used to work in medical although I am a MUA but just a normal wedding style MUA. Just been experimenting and your videos are awesome. Oh and I’m a Sydney girl too.
Such a helpful video. I'm doing some cuts and a ripped mouth for a zombie look so my skin is obviously going to be a grey/greeny colour. Do I need to put a darker base colour over the latex before matching it to the zombie skin or not since it is white tissue?
This is great, im very new to this and the main problem i have had with using the liquid latex was blending the colour to match my skin as i found the foundation/concealer wouldnt blend on the latex very well or it would catch and build up on the edge of the latex and leave a really obvious line even when i made sure it was super thin, ill have to try again and use the brush to flick the product over the latex like you did cause that looked amazing!
Bella Hogan Thanks! Yeah the foundations never quite sit right on it, but if it's the only thing you've got, you can try using smudges of blood to help disguise the wrong colour as well haha :P I've also used the flesh tinted latex as the last layer to try to help cover edges and bad colouring, and then got into grease paints as a good way for thick colour coverage.
Yeah ive always just ended up throwing blood around everywhere to cover up the messy bits haha. Thank you so much for the advice i cant wait to play around again now! :)
You can also use spirit gum remover. Dip the end of a brush in it and kind of maneuver it from the "inside" and out. I don't know if that makes sense because it's easier to show. It will still pull a bit, but it's generally less painful (and I have zero pain tolerance so this is just my take). Especially on the face and vellus hair aka peach fuzz. c:
I am a quite old mom with teenage kids. One is very into makup in the scary vay. She introdruced me to liquid latex, and we have had lots of fun with it. So, I found out it is the best hair remover ever :) And my eyebrows gets quite bushy, så I use a little bit of liquid latex to remove ecxessive hair. It works better than tweezers. But again, be aware if you are allergic to latex, it will make your skin worse.
Nice work! I still had liquid latex and fake blood from the makeup course I did many years ago. Needed a reminder on how to use it so cheers for the great instructional video. I look forward to checking out more of your videos soon! If I try out any of your ideas I will be sure to tag you ;). Re removing the latex...you can also use spirit gum remover :).
thank you for making this! very helpful!! i've been looking for a way to make and blend some cheekbone prostheses for a little bit for my halloween costume.
I have found oil very effective for clean up and even use brushes for application now that I have worked out that they can be cleaned using a little spray of WD40.
For working with liquid latex I recommend using shaving cream and a razor and just shaving the area you are going to use the latex on so you don't have to rip your hair out.
Probly can skin so soft would work I use a lot of avon and wet and wild products the big thing with makeup is powder over it to set it not the blood but skin look and green french clay mixed with liquid latex makes grate monster skin
@Freakmo I was wondering what you could recommend that works just as good as the liquid latex. I'm really allergic to latex and I've been trying to male spirit gum work and its not giving me the same effect as I think the latex would. I'm trying to re create this look for Halloween.
Hi, so I'm just getting into special effects makeup and I was wondering what you'd recommend for a first alcohol activated palette, I'm planning on getting a skin illustrator palette but I'm sort of torn between getting the normal fx one or the zombie one and I was wondering which one you'd recommend. Thanks :)
you can use some really warm water and soap to weaken the latex. try removing this type of thing in the shower or with a hot wash cloth that you dont really care about anymore.
if you are working close to your eyebrows will blocking help keep from ripping your eyebrows off? or would you maybe apply a like Vaseline to the hair before application?
Hi Freakmo, so i know this isn't liquid latex related but i have a question. So im just starting into fx makeup and i tried using Synwax the other day only when i went to apply it there would be bits of hardened wax....even after warming it in my hands. Why might this be?
ways it have to be smooth can't you just have it how ever you want it to be .We don't have to listen to you who ever you are you don't know how we are so all you you tubers stop telling the kids and adults what's right and wrong we can do whatever we want to thank you for your time whom ever you are ☺☺have a great day!
So I’m having one problem with the latex I’m using the same sponge your using in the video but when I put latex on the sponge and I go to wash the sponge right after the latex already is stuck to the sponge am I supposed to apply the latex faster and then wash the sponge?
brill tutorial, just did this on my arm and my daughter did hers too, we popped next door to see if she had a bandage and she nearly passed out!! lol she said OMG when I saw them both I thought Lynn(my wife) had finally flipped!
help me when the latex dry and I paint the area with latex stays with the brand of my real skin tissue, what I do to make it not happen? pls I need an answer
'for costume parties or whatever you're using it for'
Is it bad that the first thing I thought of was scaring children?
HowlingWolf64 nah, not at all
HowlingWolf64 no
our governments are her biggest customers
Omg same
Naah u good
I had a bad experience where I got latex stuck in my eyebrow and I found that olive or coconut oil works wonders if you apply it to the latex and leave it for a couple minutes, comes right out.
Harmoniously Chaotic omg thanks😂

Yup I knew that from cutting jack fruit. You're supposed to coat the knifes blade with olive oil. It breaks down the latex.

I've also found that if you add a fake freckle over the latex it helps to make it look a little more realistic. oh my god thankyou I thought i was having a allergic reaction cause my eyes were burning when I put latex near my face thank you sm

This was so realistic that when you started squishing it and moving it around it made me cringe so hard and I could almost feel it!!! So good!!
I've always struggled with liquid latex and this helped so much!!! I could never use the latex and tissue method and make it look realistic until now x
So, actually, liquid latex is a pretty decent way to get rid of your hair? I'll keep that one in mind 😉
Lynn oh my - ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Don’t do it..
Lmaoooo
;-;
Just shave it
hands down my favourite special fx makeup arist! I always go back to these videos around this time of year :)
The satisfaction I got from you peeling it off is UNREALISTIC
Ah, we meet again.
I’m a Changed fan and reading these comments were an experience

I literally never had any experience with liquid latex or just fxs make up at all this helped me out a lot
this is gross. that's great! I'm a beginner with this stuff and and found u this channel is the best
I got a ton of latex and makeup for sfx for Christmas and I’ve never worked with latex before this helped so much I can’t wait to get started!!
I also figured out that if you put vegetable oil not too much then it will help make the pain less painful and will prevent hair ripping off (if it doesn’t work then it’s probably me messing up not you)
I've finally found a decent Makeup/FX Channel
This is awesome! I just bought a bottle of liquid latex, and can't wait to try it!
it looks like your ripping off your real skin lol
ikr

WOOOOOW!!!!! That looks really, really good! Thank you so much for taking your time to make and post these videos. You are awesome!!

You have earned a new subscriber! Thanks for the help! Binge watching your vids now!
Exactly what I was looking for - great tutorial! Thanks!
Omg thank you so much this was so helpful💜You have a new subscriber😘
if you put some baby oil and then rub it under water it comes of easily. i only did a bullet hole so im not sure about big cuts tho
I have found oil very effective for clean up and even use brushes for application now that I have worked out that they can be cleaned using a little spray of WD40.
Wow this was so helpful! Thanks for showing how to remove it and sharing so many tips! 😊😊😊

Literally loved this vid :) ❤️

Great Work! Truly remarkable realistic look :D
Love your channel. I would love it if you do one on Venom symbiote suite being torn apart!
You are super talented!!!
Well made informative video. I just scored a jug for Halloween I guess, who knows what uses I find. Thanks for teaching me some ideas
I just got some Liquid latex. It's really thick and clumpy
sounds like it has started to set.
Jayombi but I squeezed it out and it was all clumpy and wasn't rubbing on smoothly at all.
eeek, strange ... I hope you got it changed, either way it wasn't right for application.
I've just bought some and it's like this too
You can use spirit gum remover or baby oil as well to remove the latex :)
@Freakmo I was wondering what you could recommend that works just as good as the liquid latex. I'm really allergic to latex and I've been trying to male spirit gum work and its not giving me the same effect as I think the latex would. I'm trying to re create this look for Halloween.
Can I use liquid latex for my Jeff the Killer cosplay? I'm new to all the effects and I am looking for a way to make the wounds on his face.
umm I have a question, does the wound you made can be use again and again?
or the latex can only use once and have to be dispose?
versionTV I guess if you remove it as a whole instead of ripping it, you can reuse it
Hi, so I'm just getting into special effects makeup and I was wondering what you'd recommend for a first alcohol activated palette, I'm planning on getting a skin illustrator palette but I'm sort of torn between getting the normal fx one or the zombie one and I was wondering which one you'd recommend. Thanks :)
Did you ever make the color matching video?
you can use some really warm water and soap to weaken the latex. try removing this type of thing in the shower or with a hot wash cloth that you dont really care about anymore.
if you are working close to your eyebrows will blocking help keep from ripping your eyebrows off? or would you maybe apply a like Vaseline to the hair before application?
+Andrea Hardman cover them with masking tape
Very helpful, this will be my first time using latex and I didn't know it could ruin clothes and stuff, the more you know lol ^w^
Princess Keith well I hope you didn't ruin anything cause a big huge amount fell on my jeans
I think Imma use this on my neck for galaxy gore ^^ ty for this tutorial :D
Do you think I could use this to do the Heath Ledger Joker scar on my friend's dad for Halloween?? And is the liquid latex easy to get?
Amazing! simple but so effective thank you for sharing
Is liquid latex very stretchy? I'm trying to make soft plastic lure and thought about using liquid latex for it.
This was soooo helpful- thank you!!
Does the alcohol used (to dilute the skin illustrator paint) not break down the latex?
Is there a colorful latex like skin or make-up that you color as you like?
Fx palettes are rly expensive in my country so do you know any dupes I can use before i make a real investment ^^ love your videos btw
Hi Freakmo, so i know this isn't liquid latex related but i have a question. So im just starting into fx makeup and i tried using Synwax the other day only when i went to apply it there would be bits of hardened wax....even after warming it in my hands. Why might this be?
what do you do if the liquid latex is too thick can you add small amounts of water??? Love your vid ; ]
Freakmo can you use any kind of latex and do you just use a regular tissue you blow your nose in??
ways it have to be smooth can't you just have it how ever you want it to be .We don't have to listen to you who ever you are you don't know how we are so all you you tubers stop telling the kids and adults what's right and wrong we can do whatever we want to thank you for your time whom ever you are ☺☺have a great day!
She's giving her advice... If you can't handle how people tell you how to use things. Don't watch these type of videos.
I find it very hard to cut it for some reason😂
So I’m having one problem with the latex I’m using the same sponge your using in the video but when I put latex on the sponge and I go to wash the sponge right after the latex already is stuck to the sponge am I supposed to apply the latex faster and then wash the sponge?
Hey guys - beginner here, sorry to sound dumb but what is the point of liquid latex?
miz martinez It can be used to add texture!
Oh thank you ! :D
miz martinez No problem! And it wasn’t a dumb question btw ☺️
can you use foundation
Daniel Ramirez I did and it worked
Yes
brill tutorial, just did this on my arm and my daughter did hers too, we popped next door to see if she had a bandage and she nearly passed out!! lol
she said OMG when I saw them both I thought Lynn(my wife) had finally flipped!
I need that color match skin video!!
This was so creepy! What an amazing job! It looked realistic and it made my stomach churn! hahahaha
great vid, just wondering if that is kleenex tissue paper you are using?
Yes, Kleenex tissues work
can you teach us how to color match skin tones?
When do you use liquid latex or sculpting gel?
so you can use regular nose tissue?
yea
You could also use Vaseline in stead of shaving
Can you do a video where you show and tell us the different products you use and where we can find them?? Thank you
Camerareadycosmetics.com has loads of SFX stuff
Camerareadycosmetics.com has loads of SFX stuff
Is there a liquid rubber that can be used in similar applications?
Great video... you have a new subscriber, FM!

How long can fake blood be on skin (or other surface) not dried?

No like regular tissue
How long does it take to dry because Halloween is tomorrow and I'm a zombie! Xx🦄😜🤗
Same
I'm a deranged escaped convict with a bloodstained machete...
I love Halloween!
