Love how this conversation went from
Jingle jam (with tinder analogy) > actual tinder experiences > Vietnam war vets > extended discussion of the mafia > corporate culture
Which eventually wrapped back around into game companies.

As a sourcing manager here in china, the MOQs (minimum order quantity) and prices are lowered on Alibaba just to attract the initial conversion of a buyer. The MOQs, pending on the product, will most likely be in the 1000s to reach the advertised price. My estimate for dog clippers to be bought at 2 dollars would need at least 500 MOQ and that's without shipping, which would be expensive as it would be shipped LCL (less than container load).

The trick of company loyalty is that in major companies it's like Sips said; tricking you to financially invest in the company AND to develop real relationships with immediate co-workers and managers who are on the surface invested in your individual success. The problem is that the people immediately available to you and are invested in your development are not the people who make staffing cuts, and screw over the honest workers its the executive level people who decide what their employees are worth.

I have my old bed from university as the guest bed. It's a twin sized bed, memory foam so it's pretty comfortable at first. But prolonged use of it becomes unbearably painful. I dont know why honestly, it's a Casper mattress so you would assume it would be great, but it's the worst bed I've ever had.
Guests are always like, "that bed is amazing I've never slept so good in my entire life" the first night. Any night after that it's nothing but complaints about back pain and sore spots "I've got to get out of here before that bed sucks what youth I have left out of me." It's the perfect guest bed for real.

Regarding the conversation around 59:00 about Dev's being a product of their time, It appears to be a technical issue in general.
Personally I work in an IT call center and over the last few years I've see plenty of situations where someone gets promoted up to a point where their ideas can get implemented (team leaders, project lead, etc) and i've found that a large number of people just lose track of whats going on at the ground level.
Time and again you'll see a newly promoted person enter a role where the norm becomes meetings and discussions rather than practical action relating to the issue\problem\inspiration and they just... don't see the system change around them i guess?
I suspect this is a big part of the problem with Devs, and its one that's always going to affect larger companies, when they start to need more and more layers of oversight to manage effectively.
It also makes situations where your Peter Molyneux's can spawn - the person that doesn't understand the practical limitations because he chose to stay down at the lower levels of concept design, over being working in a place devoid of inspiration.

TL;DR - Only have guests if you have a guest bedroom or they have a bigger reason to be there than for funzies.
About a little over a month ago I had a friend (one whose been a friend since middle school, currently senior in college) stay over at my house for 3 days since my gf's house was unavailable. We don't have a guest bedroom so I let them sleep in my bed and I sleep in a scrounged together bed in the loft. It sucked. Not only was I unable to do my sacred morning routine of wake up & turn on my PC, make my bed, get a cup of coffee, pee while the coffee is brewing in the Keurig, get coffee and take to my PC, watch a random youtube video while drinking coffee to wake up.
Ultimately, anyone being in your house is going to make you suffer a TINY bit or fuck with your routine.. but I feel like if it's more important than just "Hey I wana visit" then it's fine. Suffering for others enjoyment is great and all, but when the point of them being there is for your enjoyment just as much as theirs - you shouldn't have them stay over without a guest bedroom. If either side has to suffer for both or everyone's enjoyment, just play a video game together or something. . have a board game night on TTS, start a D&D campaign on roll20, etc. There is tons of shit you can do with people overseas or across the US (since the US is so fucking big).
IN THAT VEIN - if you want people to be guests in your house, I HIGHLY recommend just having a guest bedroom unlike what Lewis said. Either party suffering for their decision in a friendly "let's go have fun" visit is shitty. So long as you have a set in stone day/time that they will be gone (Such as a flight to head back to their actual home or something), then it shouldn't be a problem of them getting "Too comfortable."

      AH!
I've been through a similar issue. Not quite as long, I'd have hung myself. But stuff like that is why I dont like to have people over. If someone asks to stay for a "while" or "until i figure something out, not more than a week or two" immediately NO from me. Squatters suck, and its becomes increasingly hard to tell them to leave.
3 years, I bet you were extremely happy to get your space back to yourself when it was over.

    Oh god.
This “Jingle Jam tinder” where games/game companies are girls analogy can go sideways real fuckin fast.
The vast majority of the responses he gets would be “underage” underdeveloped girls who are desperate to go the whole way >,>

So i am a straight man, and in the time I used tinder i failed so hard that it eventually said, have you tried being gay? and started showing me gay men as matches (and eventually only gay men) ^.^
