Cold Spring Tavern (5995 Stagecoach Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, United States) - One of the greatest legendary and historical destinations in California for BBQ tri tip is Cold Spring Tavern, it’s a hidden gem. You can choose to sit down without the tavern or forest, and they serve up tri-tip sandwiches in a huge way. They are delicious especially when paired with all their signature sauces. Their onion rings are also fantastic. Price - $13 per sandwich
Jocko's - Steakhouse (125 N Thompson Ave, Nipomo, CA 93444, United States) - Next up on this California BBQ meat tour we drop to Nipomo, and to one of the most legendary steakhouses in the United States - Jocko’s. Jeffrey had been telling me about their double cut XXL spencer steak grilled over red oak. It’s every bit as amazing and more than it sounds. One of the best steaks ever.
Da Hickory House BBQ (2790 Seaglass Way, Oxnard, CA 93036, United States) - Finally to wrap up this food tour we drove over to Oxnard and Raquel took us to Da Hickory House BBQ for a leg sized tri-tip sandwich!

Mark, you hit some good commercial spots, but the real deal is in santa maria, where locals have been home cooking tri tip for generations! If you ever want to do a backyard tour in santa maria let me know and i will gladly hook you up with as many backyard bbqs as you want to film! Thats where tri tip comes alive! Native santa marians mostly all own at least one bbq pit, and cook tri tip regularly! Try santa maria hospitality sometime, you wont regret it! P.S. if you ever make it on a nice summer weekend just go by waller or priesker park, you will smell tri tip cooking everywhere! Santa maria style bbq is the best! Its a smoky hot, fast cook!
Oh heck yeah! California is king of tri-tip, we got brisket in Texas!🤘
@@michaelmartin4366 I love tri-tip! So hard to find here in Texas. I think it grows on trees there in California.🤘
@@michaelmartin6304 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mexi Papa broke my heart with “medium well” but was so glad that he tried it and liked it. Great video!!
It’s the dancing and eating for me. Thanks for making us smile Mark and friends!
im not sure who the female was but she had such a warm and humble vibe , this was entertaining to watch ! 🙏🏽

"Are you a hugger? I'm a hugger" 🥺🥺❤❤❤
Really appreciate Mark Wiens for showing love and shedding light on the Cali 805 Central Coast BBQ cuisine it shows you travel for good food and never fail to disappoint with your food content after being away from the coast for it was really nice to see someone enjoy themselves where I’m from now you definitely have a new subscriber in me today
The Central California is really an undertold story of settlement in the US. The food is some of the last remnants of that culture but Santa Maria tri tip is definitely an important part of that history along with the California Black Oak wood. Same can be said about the remaining basque restaurants up and down Central California. Stories that need to be told from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz and the whole Valley too. Great Video.
Couldn’t agree more.
Was there for 5 years, miss it dearly, 805
It's Red Oak not Black
@@MrKoopas I stand corrected , how can you tell the difference between the two? I imagine they burn quite similar with subtle differences?
He ain’t lying I’m from the 805…Santa Maria got a place called Shaws…beef ribs, tri-tip outta this world.
The way she turned around hearing a baby cry. I knew it was hers ❤️
You cannot ignore that mother instinct. The amazing food and company was secondary.
Oh gawd! So, she was the only individual that heard a baby crying? She just had their baby so of course she was going to check on the baby regardless. When I was at Target this evening some mother must have had left her motherly instinct at home because she left her 4yrs old son stranded.
Oh wow good call I was wondering why she turned like that
Mark: I’m just gonna transfer over here…

Cold Spring FTW
Lmao Jorge was tryna making moves on Raquel the entire video. Also @22:29
Can’t believe trendi eats made it to mark weins!!! All my favorite in one!!! Representing my hometown Oxnard!!!
As a Santa Maria resident, I say you did a great job representing our area, Thanks!
Pismo Beach guy myself. Time to go to Jocko's. Haven't been since before Covid.
Santa Maria is the home of the tri-tip, but not as picturesque as Santa Barbara and Pismo.
Grew up in Santa Maria tri tip the best
Yesssiirrr! Grover Beach. Here!
You must be a multi-millionaire to live in santa barbara and a millionaire to live in pismo beach.
PS: the grill is called a Santa Maria grill. It originally started in Santa Maria, CA. The history in the tri tip is pretty interesting, the vaqueros started cooking it over open fire, in Santa Maria and surrounding areas-in California
Actually no they didn't, the original Meat was Top block back in the day. There was a local butcher who started using the tri tip cut much later, I believe in the 50s. But you are correct about it beign from Santa Maria.
This gave me the vibes from your episodes with Mr. Taster in Iran.
I am from Los Angles, thank you for remembering the Tri Tip Sandwich with Apple Horseradish Sauce. In fact your Nappa Valley and Historical San Francisco Tour was just awesome Mark!!!
Can we all appreciate the fact that Mark Wiens never disappoints us with his content 👍🤗👏
Unfortunately it's all hmmmmmmm to him. Nothing is ever not good.
No i can't, now stop copy the other comment
I'm always disappointed....so are many others

He's a legend. I can't ever watch an episode without food by me or I'll instantly regret it. Right now I'm enjoying a massive Steak Burrito. Had to take a breather to comment. lmao. Cheers from Toronto!
I want to spend the rest of my life traveling for food where ever Mark goes !!!!! You know the food is good when you dance while your eating . Once again its great to see Mexi- Papa and Jeffery and all of Marks friend. Great video I love California !!!!!.
Thank you Mark for visiting SB and Ventura/Oxnard area! Loved living in the coast where small coastal towns are making their mark in YT! Hello to TrendyTreats! Loved their videos too!!
I must say you are beautiful, I was captivated by your rare beauty which made me send you a short text
Yes!!!! Finally, someone does a travel vlog on Tri-tip. Every time, I see a travel video to California all I see is tacos and I am like, where’s tri-tip? Thank you! That’s the one of the things I miss about California
same here lol
Mark is a great filmmaker. I always feel I am right next to him traveling to new places.
Yes he’s a great filmmaker
Amazing mr. Mark .Am happy couse you are .

Mark you haven't done a Texas BBQ Tour yet?? Man you HAVE TO! Trust me
I love how mark enjoy his delicious food and dance at the same time✌
Mark is killing it in The U.S. all these videos are great!
I'm ready for him to go to other countries again.
@@chiaraippoliti not me.
@@kelefane6233 I'm from the States and lived in California. So this is boring compared to places in other countries.
@@chiaraippoliti I know, but I like seeing American food that outsiders (or people living here) don't see or hear about. Usually when outsiders think American food, they think McDonalds or Burger King, lol. But thats far from the truth. America is actually a melting pot of many different cultures and food. You just have to look for it. Which is what Mark does.

I have literally traveled the world for food with Mark through these amazing videos and at the same time am from Kenya
We hope you will come back here for some more Nairobi food reviews

That ROBUST PIECE OF STEAK DEFINITELY IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW.
The rarer the BETTER! FA SHOW!
At 10:30…a child cries… two men continue with what they were doing… the lady instinctively turns around at the crying baby. Thank God for great steaks, and wonderful ladies who care about what is important for humanity…protection of its continuity. Thank you guys, you are all wonderful, from Karachi to California
BEAUTIFUL WEST COAST!! CALI THE CAPITAL OF FOOD IN THE STATES!!

Pretty freaking much 😍
Love how mexi papi is joining mark in his adventures now that’s cool lol
The cool Guys back together 😅😎👌🏻
Unbelievable how the two Tri-Tip places didn't cut against the grain when cutting the meat! Makes huge difference!
I saw that. Makes me think it was not as good as they said lol.
I have been cooking tritip for over 30 years. I have tried it all ways and it really doesn't make a differnce
@@shaneharden4757 It is a subtle difference but there is a difference.
I love the tri-tip cut.... but I wanna hang out with these cats (Jeffrey and Jorge)!! Jorge saying "We were driving thru the mountains and I was asking Jeffrey where he was taking me and then.... BAM!!!" Lmbo!! Looks like a blast!! Love these guys!!!
Santa Maria Tri-Tip with Pinquito Beans…makes a great Saturday street meal.
Mark is the best I love his enthusiasm lovely to see how he enjoys the food
Mark keep it going
Mark , nice there in Sta Barbara , California. Tri-tip barbecue is so juicy , tender barbecue. Your expression looks it's so good. Merry Christmas.from Texas
Should have gone just north to San Luis Obispo for the best tri tip sandwich in California. Firestone Grill
the dancing you guys do when eating is hilarious 🤣
That bald guys expression of Mark just made my day 🤣🤣🤣
Who else here watches these video while u eating too😂🙌🏻💯
I hate steak jokes, because good ones are *rare.*
Authentic food, great company good friends, delicious Tri trip sandwiches, large juicy steak and sausageshula hoop gigantic onion rings, stuffed potatoes!Mark you went all out and delivered!
Cold Springs Tavern - The building used to be the Ojai Valley jail. After that, Ojai built TWO brick jails, most people only know the 1 at Libby Park. The railroad changed everything, which is why the brick jails & not a log cabin jail. The 2nd brick is at Avenida De La Verada.
Ya mark weins best videos with Jeffery and mexi papa!!!!!!
Great video, glad to see Jockos put on the map. There are few local areas from SLO to Santa Maria that were missed i.e. OLD SLO BBQ, Ribline in Grover Beach, McClintocks in Shell Beach & Arroyo Grande, Hitching Post in Casmalia, Santa Maria Elks Lodge (Cook Your Own) just to name a few. BBQ tri tip is an 805 common cut of beef. I suggest you try the Baja cut from Spencer's Market. On a good weekend with football on; you can smell BBQ pits going from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles. I miss it being in LV, but I go home quite often to stock up on my red oak....
Hitching Post is great. So many great spots of the main highway.
Yes, you nailed it
Good post brother
@@TheWtikaiser I love the artichokes
Jockos in nipomo and far western in santa maria must be mentioned as it's a law around the central coast. I too stock up on red oak firewood and Susie q seasoning salt for our santa maria style bar b ques.
I grew up with Santa Maria bbq and tri tip sandwiches. I love California
MARK, I am stunned you stayed so far south and didn't go directly to Santa Maria, the central coast capital of Tri-Tip!!!
Seeing two of my fav food channels is awesome
Jeffrey is the funniest guy he knows!
I really love how mark react to the food. Such a big FAN, all the way from Philippines.👍
WAAAAAAAAOOOOW
I don't know why I'm laughing at your name. hahahaha

I just had some of my wife's tamales a couple of hours ago but by watching you guys eating those wonderful wonderful bbqs meals made hungry again I'm telling you Mark! Sayyy thanks Mark!😎👍👍🍻
This was so descriptive it made me want to try this stuff, what a peaceful video.
Santa Maria style tri-tip...the best. Known all over California
I feel a road trip to Southern California coming on. The cold Spring Tavern is beautiful.
You were in my neighborhood! Love the central coast of California!
Mark's favorite word on every episode whenever he eats something is oohhhh yeeeaaahhhh
This video broke me. I'm going to cry. Those steaks are so beautiful.
WOW those were some super thick and juicy steaks with sausages. And Jeffrey's there too. What a Simply Glorious day. Thanks Mark 🤗
Onion rings with plain yellow mustard!
@@windella blech. Sounds horrible.
Those monster "Spencer" steaks just had to be sous vided. It was so even. Not knocking it. Finished on the grill. Paradise.
California just keeps bringing on fantastic food with Mark as commentator of the food. Beef and fire doesn’t get any better!!!
The biggest sandwich I had known was Subway in 🇺🇸 that I would eat for lunch and the leftover for dinner but Mark has just changed my image of huge sandwiches 😛💓
Very good
Now I feel like an even fatter American loll
Subway is junk food
You need to go to New Orleans, Yuka. Get some Po Boys or Muffaletta. There are a lot of great sandwich places all over the US. Subway is just a chain place. It doesn't even compare to the originals stuff.

Oh the nostalgia. It's been over 20 years but growing up on the central coast this brings back so many memories, Jocko's, Little Jocko's, McClintocks! I can smell and taste this video!! Thank you! haha
your vlogs became my companion every meal..I enjoyed watching them..kudos on you
Jeff's OMG sandwich at Heroic Italian in Santa Monica is seriously one of my favorite sandwiches.
I've been in love with your adventures for years and years, and you literally came to eat at Jockos right down the street from me! So amazing!
Same. I'm from Santa Maria!
Everybody dancing after the bite 😆
Don't know why but I just smile when i see you Mark. Great videos!!
The onion rings look bomb.
Legendary bbq adventure... Keep on coming mark and friends :)

Mark once again showed us places we never though existed with mouth watering food not only delighted to the eyes but makes our stomach grumbling. Mark, you just killed my dinner.
raquel gives me karlee grey vibes and i love it lol plus she's dope
OMG I love that place. The rabbit is to die for. The whole vibe, especially in the evening for dinner is the best.
Brother Mark your videos are always legendary, please never stop. You are the inspiration to why I am a content creator ❤️❤️
You know a sandwich is heaven when four grown adults to the happy dance.
Everything looks delicious 🥩🍖😋
Mark...this vlog was one of the best I have ever seen on the internet. Nicely done!
(you made me start knawing on the edge of my computer screen!?*)
Love the vids Mark. Those onion rings looked great. You can tell they're good because the whole onion didn't pull out when you bit into it, like some places
This is one of the best show so far to me Mark love the environment and the people around you
Love to see foodtuber's children start to try their way. Micah enjoying his meal characteristically like his dad in the background. And another boy (Sorry I didn't know him) taking video. These would be a good little spark for them no matter what they want to be in the future.
I love tri tip. Before they just doubled in price in California. I bought several and crammed them into my freezer at home. Horseradish is a must for me with any steak! I'm happy that steakhouse didn't get caught in our horrid fires? They're lucky.
Horse radish has magical qualities when paired with grilled beef.
I agree with Mexi Papa - If ur in a poor quality restaurant order medium well. If it's good stuff rare or medium rare 100%

Your CA adventure has revealed some truly awesome places to visit. Being in Ca I never know where to go but will definitely visit these places you’re sharing with us.
So to let you know. That Portuguese sausage you were eating is pronounced Lin-gwee-sa. And it’s so much better dipped in yellow mustard. I’m born and raised in Santa Maria ca. we had tri tip and linguica every Sunday for dinner. Love the vid
Mustard is never good like that. Too overpowering and strong, not in a good way. Only good when added to some things. Like maybe deviled eggs or potato salad.
As a California native I agree its great with mustard
wait, you got Linguica. The proper Pizza topping. I thought it's only found common in Hawaii and Boston.
@@b1k2q34 ya I guess maybe you should try it before you say anything. Because it’s a staple to have when you eat linguica.
@@slewone4905 nope. It’s in every store where I’m from. Actually it’s probably in almost every store in California lol. Best thing ever
So awesome to see all of you together food looks so Ono much aloha to you all ❤️
u picked the best group of friends to go eat with , the boys are back with a new pretty face , much luv and respect to you all
So glad you made it here!
Great video Mark! I'm loving all the west coast content, especially since I live here. I'm wondering though if you have considered going to the midwest, Chicago area specifically. So many iconic foods that can only be experienced in that city.
Mark, I wish you would have traveled up north a little further to Santa Maria, CA. This little town is where Tri-Tip got its start. They call it Santa Maria Steak there in many BBQ places. Really enjoying watching you savor all the yummy foods here in So Cal. Try the Clam Chowder and fried oysters at Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach too.
👆🏻 1000% all this is true!
Any places you would recommend?
