After watching your ZO video last week, I thought "why bother getting a knock off when you can get an R41 for just a few bucks more if you shop around." This video does a great job of explaining the difference between the two razors. I am the kind of person who buys generic store brands when the product performs the same as its more expensive counterpart. If the ZO is indeed a stainless steel razor, that is quite a bargain.
Yeah, they're definitely different. Generic grocery items are a great example. Oreo isn't worried about the generic sandwich cookies. They are aware that they'll be made and they plan accordingly.
@@Illuminati089 Our family just tried WalMart "Twist & Shout" because some were going to be ground up and used in a pie crust. The consensus among all 6 of us is that this particular brand is definitely NOT an Oreo :)
@@TheShavingDisciple I'm somewhere in the middle. There's always a first of everything and then there are subsequent versions and eventually improvements. I don't care much for straight dupes when a product is new but inspired by is usually ok with me. They can protect their designs for a time as Muhle used to do. They used to be quite aggressive about threatening folks with litigation but I'm assuming whatever patent or design protection they had at the time has now expired.
The Z0 is a beast. It's built like a tank. And I got it for 36 dollars shipped, right when it came out, before they discovered that they were selling it for waaaay too cheap, and jacked up their prices. I love it. As far as copies, GSC is the king of razor plagiarism.
I like doing 3 passes and I’m very happy with the results I get with the R41. It’s as close as I’d ever want to get with DE. Not sure I’d want to try three passes with the Z0.
Hey what razor/s do you recommend for shaving my head? I have used Gillette Heritage Double Edge Shaving Razor which doesn't cut the best takes lots of passes and Muhle R41 Safety Razor Tooth Comb Double Edge Blade which cuts hardcore much less passes but i cut my head alittle. Atm i am using ASTRA Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades.
It's different for everyone. You might try using Feather or Kai blades in the Heritage. You can pick up blade samples at TryABlade.com. Have you ever tried shimming a razor? You could also try that with the Heritage.
I think for some people that's actually the best way to learn. I struggled for a few months with some very mild razors until I won a PIF for a Fatboy. Once I shaved with that wide open everything seemed to click.
@@TheShavingDisciple : ) How much are they and what is the difference between the two, is it more aggressive, the GS? Thanks I didn't know there was more than one, I've heard the older ones are more aggressive though, the ones before 2011, if I heard correct.
@@wd4313 Don't know, I haven't tried a GS yet. It's supposed to be a stainless steel version of the current (2013 or later) R41. I suspect the Z0 is probably a bit more aggressive/efficient, but won't know for sure until I save up for the GS.

@@ewk_ I had store branded oreos be just as good or better than the name brand ones.

Nice job bro. I enjoyed the conversation around the inspired designs.
Thanks, Chris. I tried to share my thoughts, but I asked for everyone else's because maybe there's something I'm missing that could sway my view.

I haven't tried any GSC razors first hand, so I can't really comment on those. I'm curious to see what the Z1 ends up like.

It's definitely a lot of blade feel. I'm a single pass shaver, so I don't mind it.
The Muhle R-41 was the first Safety Razor I bought

They also made 2-peice R-41’s
Yeah, the twist. I forgot to mention that one. I didn't really like the stock Muhle handles, so the twist never appealed to me.
: ) *Thank you for the video my Friend*
You're very welcome. Look for an update later this year once I've saved up for the new R41 GS that was released shortly after I made this video.

They have quite a few. They have some that appear to be Gamechanger and Lupo clones now, too.
