After watching some of your videos, I was lucky enough to have someone lend me their Timeless Ti 95 OC and boy you were right on the money, this razor is just such an amazing combination of high efficiency and smoothness. It screams top quality manufacturing and the fact that it is made here in the US from US sourced parts is something I really value.

By the third shave I figured my next razor would be their Bronze one but now you got me thinking I should just go for the Stainless. My understanding is the Stainless is the first one that uses EDM and the tolerances are even better. I have to say Timeless really makes an impressive razor. Thanks for the review and video.

I do not have the r41 but I get incredible shaves with the timeless and it’s a daily driver. The ether soap is fantastic as well. You introduced me to the timeless, and I would love them to produce an adjustable. The timeless is my only non adjustable and it’s just an incredible shave. Hello David. You should try and buy a Merkur Progress (short handle) safety razor. I also have been wanting to use only adjustable razors as I been wet shaving 8-9 months and want a versatile razor. My workhorse razor is my Rockwell 6s but the Merkur Progress is giving me the ability to do a 1 pass shave with Persona Blues. Another razor I like is the Dovo Primo II as it is similar to Edwin Jagger DE89 terms of quality.

The no skin stretching tip to avoid ingrown hairs is new to me. Thank you. I haven't had an ingrown hair on my face since I moved away from cartridge razors. I guess I am lucky. While my beard is coarser than average as it has turned grey, my skin is pretty average in sensitivity. My beard growth pattern is all over the place though. It took me some time to map it out. I don't own any modern safety razors, yet. The most aggressive DE razor that I own is the Gillette The New DeLuxe, which is an open comb with a very heavy head, c.1929. It was from a Decolette set (a mother of pearl case set made for ladies). That razor is great for removing over a week of growth in short order, but as a daily I favor The New short comb or the Aristocrat Jr., which is an English made tto. The Wizamet SI blade has become my favorite sharp and smooth blade for use in these mid to upper middle efficiency razors.
@@OhioShaves Oh, I just realized that I misspoke. I do own a more aggressive razor, a Gillette Goodwill razor. I find it to be unusable. It might just be my particular example, but I haven't heard of anyone that makes the Goodwill a goto in their den. It has high blade feel and is aggressive. It just put the hurt on me.
one day !!!! I will get the timeless one ... when i get used to wet shaving.... really wanna try, but it is too expensive for a beginner.. in this moment, will just keep using one which i don't cut myself and which won't give my ingrowing hair ~
Ironically I just had my first shave with my Blackland Blackbird OC baseplate and really liked it. Only complaint may be my technique (since 1st shave with it) but the combs felt a little sharp. This had me curious in other OC razors, that Timeless looks interesting.
R41..absolute beast of an OC..the Yaqi Beast and Knight helmet are awesome OCs too. Is like shaving with a Straight razor. Not for everyone's taste..but great for people who love super aggressive razors.
I have a timeless ss scalloped .68 and I have to say, I think I might prefer my henson AL13 over it. Which is unfortunate because I spent close to $300 on the timeless. The henson is just so easy to shave with, it's always at the right angle, which makes shaving my chin so much easier. However, I am new to safety razors so that could be a huge factor.
I get more perfect shaves out of the Henson myself. And the price point is killer, but it's not as aggressive as the 95 open comb. Which happens to be my favorite Timeless Razor
Hi, I have been watching a lot of your videos, not sure if you have any on head shaving. What razors do you recommend for head shaving. I have an inexpensive razor and set that my son gave me. Time to upgrade. Hopefully there’s some good razor’s at a reasonable cost.
Another superb video. I have noticed that you are not using preshave oil in some of your last videos. Is this a conscious move? I have sensitive skin and I think I need it. Thanks again!
The burning on the left side of your neck just meant you got a closer shave with the R41. The closer the shave, the more stinging you will have. Both great razors. I love my timeless razors but i need 3 passes to get a close shave compared to the R41 which i get a closer shave with just one to two passes. But of course, as usual, YMMV.
Not a big fan of aggressive razors, in general. However, if I go a week or so without shaving, my Rex Konsul XL dialed all the way up works well. Once that first pass is done however, it’s back to 2.5 after that.
@@OhioShaves cranked up, it’s aggressive for me. Usually on 2-3 days, first pass is 3.5, second is 2.5. I only go to 6 when I haven’t shaved in over 7 days.
Speaking just for what comes in the retail store packaging in the dispenser - NO. No branding. No labeling. You only will find figures of arrows to show which direction to push the blade to remove from the dispenser.
Hey Dave! I got the Yates 921-EH razor but it was way too aggressive with the blade exposure/gap. Is the Timeless .95 Open Comb a better choice for someone with a sensitive neck like yours?
I almost bought a timeless razor couple months ago but i went with Blackbird instead, its a great razor as well, i would be curious about your opinions on it if you ever get to try it. I also recommend trying out some AC razors. AC razors have much less blade options compared to DE, but the difference between blades are much more noticeable. Some blades have more exposure, some have steel guard with ridges(like kai protouch or feather proguard). Yaqi romulus is a cheap and well made stainless steel AC razor. Its a blackland vector copy but its less aggressive. I tried and liked both vector and yaqi romulus.
Totally agree. I discovered ac razors about a decade ago, and they are usually my go to. I have several of the Colonial Razors General in aluminum and brass, and they usually get the call. Wonderful razors and I get 10+ excellent shaves per blade
@@dubester1982 Yeah they are great. AC blades are more expensive but they are more durable, i can use a single blade 10-15 times before i notice any difference in my shave quality. I love using DE Razors but i have 3 AC razors in my shave den too.
@@lordfifth4520 One of the ways I decide which double edge blade is my favorite or which are favorites is which of them allow me to get 10 or more shaves on a blade. And I identified a few which do. Not a comment against single edged artist club type stuff. Just a way to say something is comparable.
Very nice razors (especially the side machining of the Timeless base plates). I might have missed it, but which gave a closer shave? The Timeless certainly seemed more comfortable. While some find the tamed 2013 Mühle R41 harsh, it's doesn't seem as harsh or as efficient as the ikon Tech (Tek). Once you learn how to use them, single edge razors using thicker Artist Club blades might provide some with a closer and *more comfortable* shave than most aggressive double edge razor options, though (for the closest shave) I usually end a shave with the ikon Tech using the lightest touch. Some inexpensive 'aggressive razor' options some might like are the Yaqi 'Knight Helmet' (with a cavernous blade gap) or the Yaqi 'Beast'.
Ohio - what would be some very aggressive razors that are NOT open comb? I’m more of a closed comb kinda guy. Looking for something similar to my Merkur 34c, but more aggressive. I’m trying to get a bit closer of a shave. Thank you, man!

Hello, I'm still waiting for your vid/review on the Razorock 37c. The Muhle r41 is a hybrid razor. Not exactly an open comb, something in between. The r41 is efficient but not at all smooth. The Timeless is much smoother.
I'm a sasquatch and have really thick hair so I use a Parker semi-slant with a Feather blade. I only use blades with glue. Can't have good without goo. It's true.
Question I've been struggling with neck area ingrown hair or irritation I have the Rockwell 6s Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong or what to improve so it won't happen any recommendations?
there's a lot of variables do you chase BBS? Do you shave across the grain on your lower neck? Do you use the same blade every time. Have you tried a variety pack of double edge razor blades?
@@OhioShavesI don't chase for BBS I believe I don't know how to map on my face Is there a video that you can make or how to prepare your face before saving. I have the Rockwell 6s I believe my hair on my neck gross to one side I know the other side but not sure how to shave correctly more I'm doing something wrong. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier thanks for responding
I have a question. Old chap (UK) recently returned to proper DE Safety razors. Have dived in at the deep end & spent a fortune on razors, blades, bowl, and shaving creams/soaps. Now my fetish seems to be the creams etc. At last count I had about 10, some in tubs of different sizes, and tubes. I read that these used correctly can last up to 5 months! So on that basis I am good for over 4 years! I will probably be dead by then, so why am I buying these products. Is their a cure? Might their be a sort of shaving anonymous, where we can gather in a circle holding hands and lathering up!
R41 shaves so good you don't need a 2nd pass.. What I do after a warm/hot shower is I used pre shave oil let that sit for a few while I whip up my cream I have been using feathers lately so you know it's going to be baby but smooth. I hit my face with patience and when done very little to no nicks or burns, Wash with cold water then I use Shea Butter (not that Walgreens shit) from the mother land.. I take a small pea size on my hands dab on face, it makes a tremendous moisturizer and aftershave for me, makes skin glow.
@Ohio Shaves At 10:04 when it the shot zoomed in, it went to slo-mo, the music swelled, and I started hearing the heartbeat I thought for sure I was about to see blood.
I have just started shaving with a safety razor. How can i determine if the razor is aggressive or mild? What makes a razor aggressive or less? Your videos have been great. Thanks.
@@KD6TAV this is all subjective. If I were you, I would start out with a Rockwell 6C or 6S depending on your budget. This razor is one of the smoothest shaving razors in the wet shaving community and it is an adjustable system where you can use different plates to figure out what shaves best for your skin and hair type. This Razor made me a better shaver and I have a ton of videos on it. I definitely recommend going to my homepage and watch some of the videos I have on Rockwell. Honestly any safety razor is a great price cause you can get blades for cheap and they'll last anybody for a good year or longer cause safety razors will last forever if you take care of them for sure!
On your first pass, do you typically hydrate and build a bit more lather when you're not recording? Or is what we're seeing the norm and what's comfortable for you? Also, what's your favorite part of the shaving routine?
yeah, this is my typical shave. Favorite part of the shave is not having any skin irritation, ingrown hairs or razor bombs from shaving. That was the biggest problem. I have using Gillette products and disposable razors.
So one thing I learned, and correct me if I am wrong...The Lab Blue are not the Comforted Coated. The Lab Blue is much more aggressive. The Lab Blue goes under the AccuForge name now. Confusing.
If u google personna lab blue the comfort coats come up and that is what alot of retailers call them. The accuforge or accuthrive come up when u look for the personna med preps. Nust google it. Even personna has said the lab blues are the comfort coated
This is why I don't get aggresive safety razors. Specially if you shave everyday, it's unsustainable to shave everyday with either of these. Might work if you have very fine hair, but for someone like me, that have copper wire-like beard coupled with very sensitive skin. These don't work as daily shavers.
Geez. I don't like an R41. Or my open comb timeless. I can use them but I don't need them. I'm a daily shaver though. I know some people who use the R41 with a Feather daily. Its not for this guy though. I actually prefer a straight razor to the R41. I can control the angle better.
A lot of stinging but at least you didn't cut yourself. Nice shave but I don't think I'll ever add that to my collection. My skin will die and I'll most likely cut myself pretty bad.
@jewante the scallop cap looks really good. I’ve done quite a few videos using that top cap. The barber pole and titanium with the .95 plate is a dream to shave with.

@@OhioShaves cranked up, it’s aggressive for me. Usually on 2-3 days, first pass is 3.5, second is 2.5. I only go to 6 when I haven’t shaved in over 7 days.
Nice shave Dave
Thanks brother
Do Personna Comfort Coats have branding on the blades themselves? I got some but they had no branding on them
Speaking just for what comes in the retail store packaging in the dispenser - NO. No branding. No labeling. You only will find figures of arrows to show which direction to push the blade to remove from the dispenser.
you have the right ones then. It says platinum on it. You're getting persona platinum.
I know that Thayer's witch hazel is your favorite, but Dicksons witch Hazel will change your life!!
that's a tough one to beat. I'll look into it.
You won't regret it!
Hey Dave! I got the Yates 921-EH razor but it was way too aggressive with the blade exposure/gap.
Is the Timeless .95 Open Comb a better choice for someone with a sensitive neck like yours?
Possibly. Maybe try a mild blade like Astra SP
@@OhioShaves That's exactly what I put in it but it still gave me zits.
Thanks for sharing
💈👍 I'm not a big fan of knock off Razors
Can you make a video of the rockwell 6c vs muhle r89?
6C is far superior
Ohio - what would be some very aggressive razors that are NOT open comb? I’m more of a closed comb kinda guy. Looking for something similar to my Merkur 34c, but more aggressive. I’m trying to get a bit closer of a shave. Thank you, man!
Definitely a Rockwell Razor. Here’s a link to save you some money.

Hello, I'm still waiting for your vid/review on the Razorock 37c.
The Muhle r41 is a hybrid razor. Not exactly an open comb, something in between. The r41 is efficient but not at all smooth. The Timeless is much smoother.
💯
Try Blackland Blackbird Ti? ,that is another masterpiece.
Anyway, great shaving video still.
💈👍
nice comparison👍
Thanks 🙂
I'm a sasquatch and have really thick hair so I use a Parker semi-slant with a Feather blade. I only use blades with glue. Can't have good without goo. It's true.
😂
What do you mean by one point of contact vs 4?
the way the razor locks into the base plate.
beautiful razors!
Thank you much
I use R41,once or twice a month I take Gillette King C just for a little change. Love my R41

I use my shaving brush and soap at night to wash my face. I go through more soap and my skin looks amazing from doing so
R41 shaves so good you don't need a 2nd pass..
Thanks for the tip.
@Ohio Shaves
At 10:04 when it the shot zoomed in, it went to slo-mo, the music swelled, and I started hearing the heartbeat I thought for sure I was about to see blood.
some of the side effects were pretty darn good. I overdid it in the beginning. Thanks for your response.
How can you tell what you have? Aggressive or mild?
Not sure I understand your question
You will be amazed on the results and how easy it is to shave. Don't forget to read the comments below the videos to hear what other viewers are saying about the Razor. You will be astonished. Honestly any safety razor is a great price cause you can get blades for cheap and they'll last anybody for a good year or longer cause safety razors will last forever if you take care of them for sure!

Another awesome video my friend. Keep them coming. Greetings from 🇵🇭
Thanks, will do!
Confusing.
You are 100% right
If u google personna lab blue the comfort coats come up and that is what alot of retailers call them. The accuforge or accuthrive come up when u look for the personna med preps. Nust google it. Even personna has said the lab blues are the comfort coated
How can glue affect razor blade performance?
Blade gap
@@OhioShaves How?
@@Somerandomguy2998 Watch the video I explained thoroughly
@@OhioShaves Ok
R41 is very aggressive. However feel so good.XD
It's a great razor
the sound effects are hilarious
😃
Are you going to do a giveaway with that Timeless Pineapple?
Yes. Been under the weather for a couple of weeks. I get back on track soon
Feel better man!
Have you tried a Muhle slant? That shit is BANANAS. Cut my face to ribbons when I started with it, but the shave is amazing.
I'll put it on my list. Sounds interesting. Is it more aggressive than the open comb R41 twist
@@OhioShaves I think so, at least deceptively so.
@@rsolsjo I'll look into it
R41 is like undertaker of the saftey razors
It's a beast for sure
That's a great nickname for it, it definitely shows no remorse 😂
It sounded like you dropped a little bit of 2112 in there.
🤙
What do I win for paying attention. Lol
Ok guys, the R41 is great but, a
smooth razor? And for head
shaves?? I don't know about
that...
it removes growth with ease.
This is why I don't get aggresive safety razors. Specially if you shave everyday, it's unsustainable to shave everyday with either of these. Might work if you have very fine hair, but for someone like me, that have copper wire-like beard coupled with very sensitive skin. These don't work as daily shavers.
They work great for me if they don't have Blade feel
Geez. I don't like an R41. Or my open comb timeless. I can use them but I don't need them. I'm a daily shaver though. I know some people who use the R41 with a Feather daily. Its not for this guy though. I actually prefer a straight razor to the R41. I can control the angle better.
Yes I'd rather use the Timeless.
15% American Indian, 25% Irish, I think the Indian contributes to my medium facial hair.
💈👍
Have you ever tried the Muhle Rocca ? The R94, 95, or 96. It doesn't matter!
Not yet
@@OhioShaves It will BLOW YOUR MIND! smoothness to efficiency ratio like no other! 👍
I could do without the sound effects. Still an enjoyable vid. Carry on!
Noted
A lot of stinging but at least you didn't cut yourself. Nice shave but I don't think I'll ever add that to my collection. My skin will die and I'll most likely cut myself pretty bad.
pretty aggressive
what's up with the background sounds?! weird.

Great comparison but i'll stay away from these
