Excellent presentation and your talking head video looks amazing! I need a little of everything, besides talking head style also walking around and showing things on a farm (GoPro has so far worked great for that), but also wider view from a workshop in an old stable. I’m considering the ZV-e10 mk ii, and looks as if a 16 mm should be on the top of my list.
If you use it for everything, yes! The MK-II will be great with the Sigma. The lens it depends of what you shoot, but for wide shots, it's the greatest :)
Hie, I am thinking of buying sony z v e10 camera for shooting youtube videos, can i edit the zve10 camera recorded video on Android phone? I have vivo v27 pro.
Hey! It depends on the phone. Keep in mind that you need a powerful phone. The videos recorded with a mirrorless are big and you ned a lot of power to edit them.
Hello. That lens is really awesome. If you want to invest that budget, yes, that's a great lens. I used it and it's awesome, but for many talking head creators, it's a little bit pricey. Thank you for your help :)
7:22 it's so important to me what you are saying here, I want to get a teleprompter for my Zve10 kit lens, would a ring adaptor work? can it be adapted to the kit lens?
Hey! The prompter that I have doesn't have an adapter for the kit. That is 40.5 mm. You need to find a prompter with that adaptor. If you want to use it with the Sigma lens, it will work perfectly.
@@GabrielVIP Ok, yes, I was planning on getting an adaptor from 40.5 to 58 for example, could a ring adapter be attached to the kit lens? Does the kit lens have a thread for attaching a ring adapter?
I bought zve10 mark 2 but so far I am not satisfied with the quality in low lights. I want to create mainly familly videos and photos and would like to start digging into more cinematic look. Do you think I should keep kit lens and try to buy used sigma 16mm or sell kit lens and have only 16mm? Will that be sufficient also for the familly photos 70/30 indoor/outdoor photo? thank you
Hey! I personally keep the Kit lens and buy also the Sigma. The kit lens is cheap, small, and has zoom. If you will need to zoom outside, you can use it. Indoor, yes! Sigma 16 f1.4 it's much, much better :)
This video was super informative and really helped me understand why people speak so negatively over kit lenses in general. Being able to set such a lower aperture on the Sigma definitely does make a massive difference especially if you don't have great lighting. Just bought a ZV-E10 the other day and waiting for it to arrive so now seeing what accessories I can get, I guess the Sigma 16mm will be near the top of that list 😊
Hello! I'm glad this video helped you :) I don't want to sell you anything. I want to show you exactly what you will have or not with this lens. It's important to make the decision knowing the good and the bad :) I hope you will enjoy it and create great content with it :)
Please, which lens is better for creating landscape video and later resize it to vertical video for TikTok and the image will not fill the screen and look weird?
Hey! It's not my area, but look like you need a wide lens. Because you shoot outdoors and the light is not a problem, maybe you can try something like 10mm...
@@GabrielVIP that brings me to my next point. I was following your video trying to set it up last night..for whatever reason i can't set the focus to face/eye detection. It's greyed out for me. that doesn't seem normal lol

Hello. I don't have experience with Samsung phones, and I don't do videos with any phone. Clearly, you can create great videos with it, but about the blur... I can't give you an exact answer.
Hey @GabrielVIP I’m planning to buy zve10 and I’m shoot my workouts videos indoors with tripod so can you please guide me which lens should i buy or should i shoot with kit lens ❤
Hello. It really depends on the space. If you want that blur and wide, clearly you need a 2.8 or a faster lens. If you want more versatility, zoom and smaller lens, use the kit lens. You can do great with both, the kit and Sigma. But because I don’t know that space, the best choice will be to start with the kit (it’s cheap), and if you don’t like it, invest in Sigma after that.
In my opinion no. You can find some cheaper versions but the autofocus is not that great, the build quality is not the same... and the price difference is not huge.
Great content! Great presentation! Which is better for talking head videos shot in front of a paper back drop? Colored lights will be pointed at the backdrop so it looks like your "Build a Killer Talking Head Setup" video thumbnail.
Hey! It’s a matter of taste. If you want a backdrop you will have a perfectly equal color. If you use RGB lights you will have a more organic shot but not perfect.
Lots of respect for your kind suggestion and recommendations sir. Can I live stream with sony zv e10 continously upto 4 to 5 hours? Does it overheats for this long? How long can it last before it overheats??

Hi Gabriel, thanks for the great videos, they are so helpful. I do talking head videos and have the ZVE10 with the Sigma 16 and love it but find I cannot go below 1.8 or the image gets overexposed. There is just too much light in my studio (even with the lights not at their full capacity and blinds closed) and I don’t want to turn more lights off. So I am in the market for a ND filter. Do you have recommendations or could you please make an upcoming video about how to choose an ND filter (and potentially also a mist filter for a more cinematic effect) for the Sigma 16? Thank you!
Hello :) I understand your problem. - First, let me ask you, how much light do you have there? :)) What is the ISO value you use? At 100 the image it's still burned? - If you have problems with the ISO at 100, yes, an ND filter it's perfect and I recommend you a variable one. This will be the most practical one. You can use it in almost any environment. I use this one: amzn.to/45sre8F I have two of them and the quality is excellent. I hope this will help you and let me know if you have questions :)
@@GabrielVIP thank you for getting back to me, and so quickly! Yes my ISO is at 100. I have a key light in front of me and another light on the side. Both are soft boxes. The one in front of me is not even turned all the way on and the one on the side is very soft. So it sounds like the only option is an ND filter. I didn't expect it to be so expensive though! The size needs to be 67 mm to fit on the Sigma 16 lens, right? I am literally just learning about these filters now and it's a whole other world that opens up! Keep the great videos coming!
But what if you lower the intensity of you lights? Keep them at 30-40%... try until you find the sweet spot With ND filters it's tricky. If you don't buy a quality one the image will have a vignette and some ugly dark zones. This is why I recommend a PRO one. Honestly, I really believe that you can find a balance in the light so you don't need to use one.
@@GabrielVIP I can’t adjust the lights, they are an old kind fromFovitec with 3 switches on one (and turn 2 on) and one with a single switch 🥲 I got them years ago so now I’m stuck with them ahah. Makes sense, if you think it’s worth the money I trust you! But I’ll also try switching one extra light off first and lowering the aperture. Thanks again.
Before investing I recommend you to keep the f at 1.4, keep the light as it is and increase your shutter speed. You don't have a lot of movement in your videos so everything will look fine. Try to keep the f at 1.4, iso at 100, set the lights as you like them and increase the shutter speed. Make a test and you will not see any difference because you don't shoot action. Let me know if it's of like this for you :)
Gabriel I'm a beginner for talking head video I had seeing most of your videos wish is very useful I had few questions does prodcaster duo is important without prodcaster can we achieve a best audio like your video can you please explain why it is important
Hello. I don't really understand the question. Do you want to record without a Rode Caster DUO? You can record great sound with a decent audio interface or a great recorder like zoom f3 and a good microphone. You don't need specific the rodecaster.
Sigma 16mm 1.4 vs sigma 10-18 2.8 . Which should I pick??? Trynaa do some fitness vlogs... does 1.4 vs 2.8 is a huge difference in low lights especially in gym environment.. can you make it a video on it
Hey! If I had to choose for this purpose I would choose the 16-50 f2.8. The difference is not that big but having Zoom it’s important for this specific application.
Gracias.
Hey! The 18-50mm f2.8 it's an amazing lens if you ca. Afford it. I don’t mention it too often because it's more expensive but the quality it's amazing. As for talking head videos it's super practical. You can set it exactly as you want having a huge range from 18-50 :)
Hehe, not really. There are so many beginners that need more explanations. Some people just need to understand why, what are the prices, and why should they consider a specific upgrade. But, if you want to jump over that, that’s totally fine:) Thank you for your feedback!
@@GabrielVIP, what I'm about to say is to be read as constructive feedback, particularly because I know you put a lot of work into this video and it actually helped me make up my mind - my sigma is arriving today! Please tell me whether my notes made sense to you. In copywriting, there are 5 stages of awareness by a consumer. 1 - Unaware - they don't even know they have a problem 2 - Problem aware - they realize there's a problem 3 - Solution aware - they also understand there's a solution 4 - Product aware - they realize a given product offers a solution 5 - Most aware - they are very close to buying, they just need to deal with some objection or have a very specific question answered to make up their minds and move forward with the purchase. The idea is that you should treat each customer based on where they stand. You don't take an unaware customer and tell them about your product vs the competitor's right away. You have to first show them that you understand their pain points, that there's a solution etc. Now, read the title of your video again. "Sigma 16mm f1 4 vs ZV-E10 Kit Lens (Do You Need f1.4?)" That's VERY specific, which means that the people who'll click these are at LEAST 'product aware', most likely 'most aware'. And you treated your audience as if they unaware, or just problem aware. Modern copywriting theory would suggest one of the two following alternatives: 1. Change the title of your video to something aiming at unaware or problem aware customers. "I have a good camera, but my video looks nothing like those by youtubers I watch" or 2. Keep the current title and get to the point where you compare the lenses more quickly. Out of curiosity, I invite you to check your analytics for info about viewers skipping a few minutes at the beginning of your video. Do you see my point?
In my opinion it's really about what you are using it for. If you shoot talking head videos (youtube videos, courses, online calls etc.), go with ZV-E10. If you pair it with a lens like Sigma 16mm f1.4 you will have a great setup. ZV-E10 mark 2 looks like will have 10bits and you really don’t need that for talking head videos. Also, for this, you don’t need slow motion. But, if you shoot travel vlogs and want to do advanced color grading and slow motion at 4k, wait for MKII. I use the ZV E10 since it was released and it is amazing. For UA-cam you don't need more. Just learn how to use it at his maximum capacity, pair it with a good lens and that’s it! I hope this will help you to choose right :)
@@GabrielVIP i will shoot my workout videos so which one will better MKll. Or zv10 also kit lens is better or should i go for another one if another one is necessary which one should i buy I’m confused in both thanks for the reply ❤️🔥
It's hard to find the perfect response. If you shoot workouts indoors and use the camera on a tripod ZV-E10 it's perfect. But if you want to do cinematic 4k slow-motion for some exercises... Wait for MKII. Also, if you do outdoor workouts and want to invest time in advanced color grading wait for MKII. If you want something simple go with ZV E10. It’s really about your stile and how much money you want to invest.
@@GabrielVIP thanks now clear my doubts I’m not a professional videographer and I’m shoot indoors workouts on tripod so maybe zve10 is better for me one thing I’m asking should i buy lens or should i shoot with kit lens
It really depends on what you want and what you compare it with. Yes, it's half the price of the camera but it's 1.4. A Sony lens with 1.4 will be extremely expensive compared to this one. But of course, if you want to stay on a budget, the kit lens will be better.
Hej Gabriel, a great video, the Sigma 16mm is my default lens, I only do talking head lectures, so it's perfect...well worth the investment... Thanks for all the advice... EXCELLENT...👍
@GabrielVIP Always a pleasure Gabriel, your content is very informative, you're very knowledgeable and, perhaps more importantly, your delivery and engagement is first class, very understandable and very clearly delivered...👍👍👍
“We also call this kind of lens a fast lens because when you have it wide open at 1.4, the hole that lets the light in will be bigger and more light will hit the sensor faster.” I’m pretty sure light won’t hit the sensor any faster with a bigger aperture. Aren’t they called ‘fast’ lenses because you need a shorter exposure time with them, in the days of film?
Hey! Yes, you are perfectly right! You need a shorter exposure time, but why? Because more light will come in faster. Think about a pipe. If you want to fill a swimming pool and use a pipe with a bigger diameter, more water will pass through the pipe an you will fill it faster. This is reason behind that shorter amount of time for exposure. And yes, they can call it faster because of the shorter exposure time and not the mechanics behind it, but it’s the same thing. I should say in the video: “A bigger amount of light will pass through the lens in a shorter amount of time” Thank you for your interest and attention to the video man :) I really respect valuable feedback.
but at f1.4 the DOF is so shallow your full face is never in full focus :/ so if your doing a taking head and you move about your either blurry or your autofocus is working its tits off XD
Hey! On a crop sensor, the DOF is not like that. Look at my videos. All of them are at f1.4. Yes, on Full Frame sensors 1.4 is too much, but for crop is ok :)
In some aspects yeah, is more practical. When it comes to bokeh and low light, Sigma is the king, but it depends on what you are using it for :) Thank you!
Thank you, my friend, for your help. I am not a native English speaker and I will always make this kind of stupid mistakes. But your feedback really helps me. I appreciate your comment and of course, I changed the thumbnail 😂 This is another lesson: check the text on the thumbnails more than one time 😂 Thank you!
@@GabrielVIPboth lenses are not good nowdays. The kit lens is not sharp nor bright enough and the Sigma is too heavy for crop cameras. The Sigma used to be the best option a few years ago, but now there are better options like the Sony 15mm, Viltrox 13mm, Samyang 12mm, etc... don't get me wrong, the Sigma is an amazing lens but it's too bulky and heavy
Hey! Yes, we have a lot of alternatives but some people can achieve great results with just the kit lens. Clearly, if you want more you can upgrade, but I receive so many questions about this specific lenses. Sigma is super popular and the kit it's perfect for a beginner who don't want more and don't have the budget.
I had and got rid of the Samyang 12mm. Image quality was far inferior to my Sigma 16mm. Yungnuo has a 16mm F1.8 for less than the Sigma. Minor difference in aperture but a good chunk less money

Me preocupa que el 16mm me quede muy abierto y he pensado en el Sigma 18-50mm f2.8.
En ese caso me preocupa tener que desplazar la cámara hacia atrás en un trípode. 🤷🏼
Qué opinas? La Zve10 puede hacer zoom con el 16mm fijo?
Gracias.
Hey! The 18-50mm f2.8 it's an amazing lens if you ca. Afford it. I don’t mention it too often because it's more expensive but the quality it's amazing. As for talking head videos it's super practical. You can set it exactly as you want having a huge range from 18-50 :)
@@GabrielVIP 🙋🏼♂️🇪🇦 Gracias Gabriel! 🤗🤗🤗👋👋

1 - Unaware - they don't even know they have a problem
2 - Problem aware - they realize there's a problem
3 - Solution aware - they also understand there's a solution
4 - Product aware - they realize a given product offers a solution
5 - Most aware - they are very close to buying, they just need to deal with some objection or have a very specific question answered to make up their minds and move forward with the purchase.
The idea is that you should treat each customer based on where they stand. You don't take an unaware customer and tell them about your product vs the competitor's right away. You have to first show them that you understand their pain points, that there's a solution etc.
Now, read the title of your video again. "Sigma 16mm f1 4 vs ZV-E10 Kit Lens (Do You Need f1.4?)"
That's VERY specific, which means that the people who'll click these are at LEAST 'product aware', most likely 'most aware'. And you treated your audience as if they unaware, or just problem aware.
Modern copywriting theory would suggest one of the two following alternatives:
1. Change the title of your video to something aiming at unaware or problem aware customers. "I have a good camera, but my video looks nothing like those by youtubers I watch" or
2. Keep the current title and get to the point where you compare the lenses more quickly.
Out of curiosity, I invite you to check your analytics for info about viewers skipping a few minutes at the beginning of your video.
Do you see my point?
Should i buy zv-e10 or should i wait for mark ii
Thank you for vídeo 🔥😎
My pleasure! Thank you!
very helpfull, thanks
Glad you like it! Thank you :)
What a pleasant young man!
Not that young 🤣 Thank you!
Thanks for your video my friend
Glad you like it :) Thank you!
Dude your voice and accent reminds me of "Fernando Martinez" from GTA's Chatterbox 😅
Hehe, that’s great 😂 I am not a native English speaker but I try to do my best :)
16 & 56mm combo is best
Good choice! That's a great combo :)
Nice!
It's definitely better, but there is a problem, the price. It's not as better to justify paying half the price of the camera
Thanks you for sharing with us :) I am happy that you like the Sigma lens. Thank you for being here all the time 🤗
@GabrielVIP Always a pleasure Gabriel, your content is very informative, you're very knowledgeable and, perhaps more importantly, your delivery and engagement is first class, very understandable and very clearly delivered...👍👍👍
“We also call this kind of lens a fast lens because when you have it wide open at 1.4, the hole that lets the light in will be bigger and more light will hit the sensor faster.”
I’m pretty sure light won’t hit the sensor any faster with a bigger aperture.
I should say in the video: “A bigger amount of light will pass through the lens in a shorter amount of time”
Thank you for your interest and attention to the video man :) I really respect valuable feedback.
but at f1.4 the DOF is so shallow your full face is never in full focus :/ so if your doing a taking head and you move about your either blurry or your autofocus is working its tits off XD
Hey! On a crop sensor, the DOF is not like that. Look at my videos. All of them are at f1.4. Yes, on Full Frame sensors 1.4 is too much, but for crop is ok :)
kit lense better
In some aspects yeah, is more practical. When it comes to bokeh and low light, Sigma is the king, but it depends on what you are using it for :) Thank you!
Better than. 😂
I would not recommend this lense to anybody
Sigma or the Kit lens? And why? I use it for over 3 years and it's perfect for me.
@@luismoracmykbe careful Samyang in low light is not that sharp and loses focus easily. Viltrox is also big and heavy.
I had and got rid of the Samyang 12mm. Image quality was far inferior to my Sigma 16mm. Yungnuo has a 16mm F1.8 for less than the Sigma. Minor difference in aperture but a good chunk less money
