Thanks for the honest pragmatic viewpoints. I seriously think many other reviewers talking about LOTRO are paid to advertise as they echo the same praise and flawlessness without any actual criticism that is much needed for this game.
I fully agree! Though I don't think people are being paid outright to advertise, but rather it pays on UA-cam to ONLY give a game blind praise and avoid any criticism because the people who watch videos about lotro likely already play and they don't like seeing their favourite game in a bad light. So it's not so great for channel metrics. What lotro does well, it does well. But you can gather what lotro is praised for with a quick 5 minute search on Google or Reddit. I'm passionate about Lotro and I want it to be as good as it possibly can be. There seems to be a culture of forced positivity within the community which I personally can't abide by. And because UA-cam isn't my bread and butter, I'm not going to sugarcoat things.
OnnMM did hint at the possibility of skipping some expansions. So if we jumst from ToO straight to throne the legendary servers might survive for a little bit longer.
I did see that. Didn't include it the video because it's so far off and it's implied that they should look at why the servers drop off in numbers and that point and what they can do to keep it going. Unless the population picks up for Throne and after Mordor, I have a feeling the vibe would die by Isengard anyway because the nostalgia and novelty of the servers starts wearing off a bit. But being able to just rush through Rohan and Helms Deep to get to more interesting endgame content would probably keep players sticking around a bit longer. History repeats itself and several months of Epic Battles would turn even the most diehard legendary server enjoyer away. Only time will tell.
While the Grey Company journeyed south to the aid of Aragorn, we came upon a Dunlending hag named Gwyllion, called the Old Woman of the Mountain. She sought to raise an army of ancient evil to aid the White Hand against Rohan... It was our duty, Amlan and mine, to keep her at bay....
You may have touched on this indirectly in the video but I would still stress the issue more directly: The low level experience is not balanced to the current game. It may be an easier way to re-experience the old level cap raids by hopping on these legendary servers, but it is simply not worth the subscription. It could be way better. The incentive is just not there. They are too easy and the classes are too strong for them. Furthermore the rewards are not good enough either. Finished Helegrod Tier 3 and finally killed Thorog? Gratz here is a 32 silver bounty that the 12 players can each roll on!
Very good point! The Nazgul world bosses were spawned in as level 150 mobs on the stress test, given the nature of how scaling works it's safe to assume the balance wasn't a concern at that time. Initially these bosses will spawn as level 50 mobs because that will be the level cap of the server. With this in mind the only way these bosses will need '''FiFtY PeOpLe!" (or even any more than just a regular 12 man raid) is if they finetune the bosses to meet the current day balance of player strength (which obviously has increased exponentially over the years). The lower level instances and raids are a great example of content that hasn't been adjusted to meet modern day player strength. As the level cap on the legendary servers increases, these nazgul bosses will require further adjustment to be balanced properly. An example I want to point out is the Treebeard server. They wanted to rework instance balance so that people who played Treebeard could experience adequate challenge for the instance clusters at its intended level cap. But they failed to support it long term (IIRC they only adjusted the Moria and Lothlorien instances and gave up after that), so I'm not convinced they'll support the Mordor server long term. As for incentive. I have no idea what rewards they plan to add for this new legendary server, but surely they should have some worthwhile incentive for players who participate in these fights. Only time will tell... But personally I'm not going to pay for VIP just to find out.
OnnMM mentioned he did some balance for the non scaling level 50 instances. Whether the same attention will be given for instances later on will remain to be seen

wish they would add difficulty scaling to old dungeons as they did with the landscape, can't be that much work...
@@hutch9016 No the difficulty system is just another patchwork like many other systems in this game. They need to fix the base game.
