Just wanted to say thanks to Renfail for answering my question on stream and then going on to make it a video for not only myself but other new people coming to LotRO, taking the legendary server option was a no brainer for me, the dev's releasing the dlc over time on the Legendary server's is perfect for New Player's like myself and to go from overwhelmed from the vast amount of content and how true to the lore LotRO is and then have Renfail explain it like he does in the video, then also have both of the stream chat's adding input into the question aswell felt like a big stress relief. For the very little time ive so far put into the game im loving every second of it, the community on the Angmar server is amazing and helpful so again thank you Renfail I look forward to crossing path's with you in Middle Earth to share a pouch of dwarf's weed and a mug of ale!.
Great question and answer. I was specifically looking for this info. Gonna jump into a legendary server! They seem similar to classic WoW servers, which is perfect.
I like the starting area but once the game opens up its indeed a bit overwhelming. There are so many quests and either you don't do most of them or you constantly out-level the area you are currently in. Then even with a higher difficulty slider everything becomes trivial.
I started on a legendary server this week, no regrets enjoying the game. Been trying other mmos after leaving the WoW treadmill, tried eso and ff14 both great but never hold me, lotro nice and chill so far and enjoying the Tolkien world which has been done much better than I thought, also really enjoying GW2 which is very different to lotro in many ways but also great.
8:05 - This. I've been looking for this information for a while now since I keep meaning on getting into LOTRO, but there are just way too many zone quests and I end up burning out. Thanks!
Played lots of LOTR games and mods, somehow never got into this game. Just started two characters and can't wait to get into it. The books and audiobooks with Andy Serkis are 🔥. Good stuff, cheers.
As a relatively new player myself, I have a level 48 burglar, I chose to not play on the new legendary server mostly because of the level cap. I didn’t want to get to 50 and have to wait months to continue leveling. Also, as I understand, the game isn’t exactly the same on the legendary servers. I guess there are wraiths that randomly spawn here or there or whatever. I’m new so I’m not totally sure if that would matter too much but for my first time through I’d rather play it the way it was originally designed. I did create a toon on Angmar to check it out and the performance is definitely significantly improved. It just doesn’t matter enough to me to override the leveling cap. I do not want to wait months to see Moria for the first time.
Menny people are starting new in the normal servers too. So to lear the game anny server will work. Free account has 2 slots for charecter and all content unlocked till lvl 90+ and now meny of the instances you have can be scaled to any lvl so you can keep leveling to max , and folow the Epic quest line. Missions also give exp and items to buy for your current lvl. EPIC BATTLES alos gove grest accesories for your lvl as you progress
So help me out here, I have played off an on a few years and have forgotten much of what I once knew about the game. I am in the mood though and thinking of starting back up, but I am not sure if I want to sub again though it depends on how hooked I am going to get. It sounds to me like the legendary server is going to be a phased release of all the content (all the expansions) over time, from base --> current, is that similar to what wow has been doing with classic servers? Am I making a fair comparison? Here is my thing, i don't mind paying the money if I am hooked on the game, but I do not know if I will be into it. I am here for the lore/story/quests etc though and if I do play I want to play all of that. I really liked the phased approach of the legendary, but it is a no go for me if I am going to miss out on the full LOTRO experience. Hope that makes sense, appreciate anyone's feedback.
I started lotro on legendary first time as I was waiting for the new wow expansion. Not gonna lie after you get past the atrocious UI (my biggest gripe) you get lost in the game. Everything feels hand crafted. I really believe if they threw some money in the game in terms of streamlining the UI, fixing the random lag and polishing the graphics and animations a bit , it would have massive success. By the way I play on fearless 3 and it has been a blast. When I take a break from wow I go back in for some lotto
Does every new character have the fiery ring quests or just one on the new servers? My Elf hunter had a very short introduction and then went to a town and no firey rings and already allowing me to go do a craft and other quests but my human guardian was totally different with a longer introduction with Strider character.
There are three starting quests in the game, the selection of each one is when you create your character. The original quest (a variant for dwarves and elves, in the blue mountains, and another for hobbits and humans, north of bree), a "new" quest in Cardolan (since 2020, and no difference are made in this quest between the races), and no quest at all. It's normal if your elf has a different starting quest than the one with your human. If the fiery ring don't appears your asked the game not to show it, or more probably you don't search the ring long enough.
@@julien1 nope; they are for lotro coins these days AFAIK. It's been a few years since I did them. They are optional. You don't earn pets that way either anymore.

It has the same side quests as any other MMORPG, so if you dislike them there, you'll dislike them here. And there isn't an "end game" here. It's not about the destination. It's about the journey of exploring Middle Earth.

legendary servers are the best experience i'm having in the game, playing since 2012 on and off

Go free to play! You can go at your own pace and the server issues aren't really THAT bad, just an annoyance sometimes :)
I know what you mean i'm doing the same thing

Time to reup and start a Legendary server. Now to go either Dwarf Hunter, Guardian, or Captain.
Enjoy

New LOTR player and I love it! Especially how the team has manifest middle earth into a MMO. Truly one hell of a way to pay homage to Tolkien! 🍻

what server regions are the legendary servers based in?
one in U.S., one in E.U.

most of the races have different intro quests and intro areas.

Hello, sorry if this is a dumb question. But will they be releasing new servers?
They just did, in August.
They should do a lotro classic server (with the better graphics etc.) lvl 60 max level pre Riders of Rohan expansion.
Well, they are already doing exactly that. That's what Legendary servers are: classic servers.
