- Rockhounding in a gravel pit can lead to some pretty amazing finds! I found some awesome agates, large epidotes, gorgeous jaspers, and so much more! It was a little windy when we went so sorry for the mic feedback in some places! I did my best to add captions and clean up the audio.
Shout out to my awesome patrons: Jonathan Laurer, Ancient Soul, Michael Trudell, Ellie Mayne, Joe Name, and Alexander Giammona-I truly appreciate your support!

Happy Hounding! - Розваги
I love the excitement in your voice with each discovery, another good video thank you.
Thank you so much! I do love finding cool rocks! Haha
This makes me SOOO GLAD to know we’re not the only one who does this.
Haha it’s a great hobby!
Definitely not I been hunting and found some pretty amazing rocks in Nebraska myself
We used to go to a gravel pit up north before I got into crystals we can’t go anymore because its private property now but now that I know I could have found AGATES THERE! :/
Right!! It was a pretty great trip! I was glad I found so many!
Agate isn’t very easy to find where I live so I watch these videos to fill the void lol
Check landscape rocks in the parking lots i find alot there in the city
Yes I do have metal shaving lying around lol. we used iron graphite in mt sons boy scouts for the axels on the wooden car derby. (and i was just going to throw it out lol)
Haha maybe I need to get my self some of those 🤣
Lots of pretty rocks. Lots of fun and watch out for rock slides. Fun, fun, fun.
It was such a great time!
That semicircle is amazing! It reminded me of a little rainbow
Right! I’ve never seen such a perfect little semi circle agate before!
I added a comment on your first video about how I literally just found your channel last night and was SO HAPPY to do so! I've learned so much from literally, your agate 101 video and your very first video. And now I'll watch your gravel pit video tonight (since I have to go to work - BOO!)
We have a massive new (and on pause) housing development by the river that is pretty much solid gravel and cobble, and some property line stakes. This has become a rock hounding ground while interest rates are high and we all hope that no houses will be built for many months or perhaps years. 😂
I think I'll have to do a drive over there this weekend for a little rest, relaxing and rock hounding. I'm a terrible identifier of agates or most things but slowly, slowly getting better. :)
Cool boots, wet or dry.😊 The best rocks are always just out of reach.
Wow super bright epidote
Love the sunrise one.. how sweet, but they are all awesome 🤩
Holy moly!! That pile will take a century to go through. Keep hounding. Woof woof.
You got that right! I only touched the surface!
Rob from Michigan Rocks keeps a small round magnet in his backpack to test rocks!!
Oh that’s a good idea!!
I live in MG and have always been curious about those pits! 🤩
That hairlike crystal structure is called acicular. Zeolites are one example, I just went out and found some fuzzy mordenite nodules myself last week!
Oh my gosh thank you so much! It was such a unique little find!
I've never seen a semi-circle banding ... That's super awesome! Great Vid.
I haven’t either! It was definitely a unique find!
omg. dream motherload. you might be stuck there for months or years.
Haha right!! I wish I could have spent all day there!
@@AgateAriel I could spend eternity there! 8 D
I used to have permission to a pit, but the owners wanted to keep it so only family was allowed inside. Which not a big deal, I have found some amazing agates. If you can get access, try a farm before planting, end of April, or after harvest, mid September through October.
Oh I might have to try that!!!
@AgateAriel I found one of my largest agates in a farm field. 14 ounces of agate with terminated quartz crystals. My biggest and personal best agate find was from a pit.
How do you go about asking? Would this be easy for somebody out of state to arrange?
@ero1347 figure out who owns the land, find their number, call them up, be honest. If you are honest, 80% of farmers have no issues with folks picking their fields.
I wish we had these in our area I Australia
Knew you would find that quarry, it was only a matter of time before we saw a video. great rocks. did you not find the uncrushed pile? great that you were allowed in to video. they should open to the public and charge by the kilo.
THERE WAS AN UNCRUSHED PILE?!
you rock xD
Back at ya!
I like going thu the alleys and parking lots
Nice gravel pile I don’t find big agate in the big rocks either. I don’t know why
Right!! I’m like what am I missing here?!
@@AgateAriel You know it.
I have a rock that has holes and a bunch of shells in it
That’s awesome!!
Mantap🎉
Do you plan on tumbling all of them? Or are there a few you like as they are and wonr tumble them?
I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m just starting my rock tumbling journey as of yesterday. (Actually have rocks tumbling!) But I do have a question. The directions I got with my Polly Plastics said to put 2 Tbsp for every pound of rock. However in your Tumbling 102 video you only put in 1 Tbsp for every pound and you accidentally added an extra scoop which according to the Polly Plastics directions would still be one 1 Tbsp short. And it solidified in the bottom. Google search also said 2 Tbsp per pound. Would you be able to clear this up? Do you use less for a reason? Is 2 Tbsp for every pound too much? Thank you.
At 6:25 when ur hollering emerald it looks like actenalite not sure if i spelled it right or not but I see the Crystal structure .
Oh you might be right!!
Their is a lot of that type of rock in nates videos... a.k.a. questfordetails
@@josephcase3105 that's what I thought.. Some sort of amphibole most likely actinolite... Nates videos are cool too... Peace!
I've gained so much info from so many interesting creators ! Lol
You could tell people that iron stone is a dinosaur egg. ... 8 )
For sheer joy - I'd swim up and down those piles of gravel as if in the ocean. 8 D
Haha right!! It was so fun!
Wow, awesome. What part of Minnesota ?
Up north!
@@AgateArielAnything more specific? I would love to search a gravel pot like that.
Hey so I believe I've been tumbling agates and chalcedony and for some reason my red and orange ones have been turning whie...do you know why they do that?
Hmm I’m not really sure! Do they have a white cast or the whole stone turns white?
A mixture of both I believe. I know that they can't be dyed cause I'm finding them in rivers and what not is there a way I can send you photos?
Which quarry is this? Do they allow hunting?
When going to a gravel pit.... I assume a company owns it and sell the river rock. Do you have to get permission or pay anything to be able to go look and take some rocks home?
I've got 4 gravel pits 2 miles down my road. Need to say I've got a huge rock collection. Lol. Big and small! It's best to go when it's raining out and the colors really pop! What part of North America is this pit?
I been looking for a pit to hunt at. I'm up in duluth but the pits around here won't let you in.
Ho i would love to go rock hunting with you sometime im from Minnesota
Are you from MN??
How do u tell?
So is this a public gravel pit?
Id love to go to a gravel pit like that at night with a UV light!!
Oh my gosh that would be amazing!!
How did you get permission to hunt in there? I have approached many and have been told no due to liability issues. Aren't they private property?
Me to...I know the fresh rock piles have agates but they either say no picking or the owners won't let you pick.
I hope you do cut your rock from 05:51
Fun hunting! 🌈🪨❤
How did you pry yourself from that PILE??? 🤣👍🏻🪨⛏️
It was literally so difficult!!
