My family came from MN, and have stories of finding cool agates in the river by their childhood farm or churning them up in the crop fields. Love seeing these videos! Thank you for showing us the beauty of MN agates!
I cut a geode every full moon and I've never gotten one with color like that! I find them hiking in Arizona all the time too. I'm going to have to order some 😊
8:20 even though it is more plain i think it looks cool kind of like a pond or something with vegitation around the edge and as it gets deeper the color gets darker.
What tools do you recommend for a beginner? I've never used a tile saw nor a lapidary wet saw and I'm hoping for a recommendation on type and brand and accessories that are necessary. I'd also love to see a beginner series of how to start cutting your own rocks and minerals, as well as any books on the subject you recommend. Thanks! And thanks for your videos, I've learned a lot! ~ Mary
Beautiful & your excitement is contagious!😁 A couple of these agates made me wonder.... Are there right & opposing directions to cut agates? A couple of them when opened up, looked like cutting perpendicular to the direction you'd cut 'em might have some interesting patterns & colors hiding in there!? Like...cutting across (colors/bands?) what we saw hints of on the outside of stone. Is direction of cuts decided on, due to possible crumbling, fractures, etc.? Or just a matter of choice? (Hope my ?? make sense -- I don't know the right words/terms to use)
Interesting mix of agates with interesting insides. Personally, I think you should cut All these halves into multiple slices to see what opens up. I suspect you will have multiple surprises. I comment from experience in cutting stones over many years. These are just suggestions. Thanks for sharing.
I would fill the space between pieces with transparent epoxy with appropriate thickness. it would look like intact rock but you could see the partial internal structure. after that we can even polish entire rock.
Since you said you haven't done many slabs, maybe that one with the all black inside would be a good practice stone? if they turn out nice, great! But if not, you've not ruined a rock with lots of visual interest.
🎉 I hate when I pick a cut direction that seems to cut between layers instead of exposing the bands. Have you ever re-cut a rock in a different direction just to see if you could get a better look?
I'm an avid rock hound I cut and polish all my own rocks. But I have a pile of rocks that are to big for my little tile saw. I'd really really appreciate it if u could tell me what brand and size saw that is?. It's extremely difficult to cut anything on my tile saw. And if really like to get better quality cuts. Thank you In advance. And I love the video 📸 thank you for also taking your time to make that for us.
Crazy how u act like u wanna share the hobby. But can't help some one with a simple answer.. I'm not asking for money here. Simply asking for info on your saw...you can reply to others comments on the same day as mine. But wouldn't take a moment out of your day to answer a simple question to help some one else in the same hobby....that's crazy. I know my one view or 1 like don't do much. But at least I help..
Its funny im from northern minnesota like 1.5 hrs north of duluth and the only agates i have found were just up here in glacial till lol no lake superior agates. I love running around the iron range and finding cool rocks there is a ton of pretty chert up here in the areas i work plus glacial till agates and jaspers and sometimes i find this black quartz like rock not obsidian but just a black rock that lets some light pass through that is very pretty.
The saws used to cut rocks are not very sharp. They have a flat grinding edge rather than a blade. You could still injure yourself, but it would be a lot harder.
4:28 what if you planed off the sides and polished them? I have a piece of volcanic rock from Elephant Rock that they smoothed out and polished for me.
Yes, make the black one into slabs!!😊 I think the black and red one would make cool looking slabs too
Ohhh I might have to do that!
@@AgateAriel totally agree :)
Yes! 🎉
Yes slab NOWW NOW MOW NOW
Yes slab NOWW NOW MOW NOW
You should look at them under UV light, short wave and long wave!
Those were beautiful!
Oh and post the UV tests!! 🥰🥰
2nd to last with the flames was my favorite i have never seen anything quite like that.
I know right?! I haven’t either it was super unique!

Oh that is so cool!!
The black with red streaks looks like it would make great cabs as far as I can tell. Yep, slab the black rock. Thanks for sharing.😊
My son got the National Geographic 10 geode kit for his birthday. He had an absolute blast finding what was inside. There were some gorgeous crystals.
I do believe the large ones are thundereggs. They make great slabs. I drilled a hole in the slab and gifted it as a sun catcher. It was beautiful!
had never seen Turkish agates before, its very interesting that agates from different places look very different
Beautiful Agates ❤❤❤❤
Yes they are!
@@AgateAriel greetings from Germany 😊🖐❤️
8:45 Yes, you could slab those into rustic drink coasters! ☕️ SLAB ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨🪚
Awesome! Will do!!

You got it!
I like to see them in slabs also
I love how excited you get!
Wow I love your video’s, but this one was AMAZING!! I love rocks and stones, so please go on! ❤
The 1 you wanted to do slabs on would look cool as coasters. :)
That second to last one with the red is stunning! Wow!
Oh Wow so beautiful 😍🥰 I love the burgundy red around the geode! I've never seen anything like it!
Yes, slabs on the black ones and that last big boy. Please show us the results if you do. Thanks for the video…It was fun.
8:20 even though it is more plain i think it looks cool kind of like a pond or something with vegitation around the edge and as it gets deeper the color gets darker.
Ohhh that’s a good point!! I like that!
The last one looks like an ocean scene from an airplane.
Amazing. 👌👌
Love seeing these rock cutting vids, my favorite kind of vids on your channel
The geode was a very cool find!
Right!!! I loved that one

I really liked the one with the big ole geode pocket with the red.

Wow such beautiful stones. Cut, cut, cut slabs. You did a great job cutting.😷⚒👍
2nd to last, with the red streaks, made me whisper "lava flow!!!"

You bet!
Yes to slabs!!!
Ooh that solid black one would look so pretty as slabs!
Also the second big one the dark patches look a bit like triceratops!
I loved this video! Beautiful!
Thank you so much!!
I would name that second last one Mordor! 🤩
I look forward to new videos from you cool cuts thanks again 😊

Yes to slabs!
12:01 that looks so cool!
The last one if you can cut a thin slab I'm guessing that you'll have an iris agate. I saw some fine bands in it.
All of these would make really pretty slabs.
Very cool!!
Love the video
Nice video I can’t wait for more
Don’t worry there is more to come! 🙌😊
@@AgateArielyay I can’t wait

Never seen a agate so big I'm amazed😮
Yes slabs!!
Check that black one with the UV light
The 2 you didn't cut i think would look cool with a face polish on one side.
I was thinking the same thing!
So cool rocks 👍👍
Agreed!
Those two you called nodules are definitely thundereggs. Do yourself a favor and check all those all in the uv
Oh really?! Awesome I will!!
@@AgateAriel SRL has amazing agates, thundereggs, and jaspers! I love their stuff.
UV light makes Oregon's Thundereggs "glow". (State rock)
@@SnarkasticSunny oh I know. I have some good ones and have shown them on some of my videos.
You should make slabs all of them

Deffo slab the big ones. Good luck
Yes I think you should cut it into slabs.
I love it when you cut things open, but I worry so much about your hands! Please get yourself some gloves or something 🙏

@@lauriepenner350 OK, thanks for telling me
Wow, stunning agates ❤👍😊🖐
Cool.
"Fascinating" as Spock would make a vulcan observation. 🤔 However, breathing to much agate dust may have a Hallucinogenic affect on us all.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Really? Oops!
General rule of thumb. The harder it is to cut, the more actual agate material will be in it
AA channel on the come up!
Clock for the win
I’m glad you like it! I thought it was a fun addition!
❤😊
Question do you polish crystals in side a rock ever
What type of saq do you use?
