- I never knew Oregon rocks and minerals were so beautiful! A big shout out to @TheRogueRockhound for sending me a box FULL of gorgeous fire opal, sunstone, bowenite, agates, jasper, petrified wood, obsidian, and more! If you haven't already be sure to check out his channel!
Oh man, you really make me chuckle, I love the bloopers!
I'm glad everything arrived safely and I am super excited to see how you like the agates when they are all polished up.
If you're ever in Oregon, let me know ^^
Yes thank you so much again! I’m so excited to see what I can do with these beauties! 🙌 and will do!
I used to love rocks when I was a kid, but as I got older I got busy with other things. Now, half of a century later, I have renewed interest. As does my grandson. Cool channel.
Wow! Rogue is so generous! That is seriously a lot of stuff! Lol! So much stuff!!!! Wow from bowenite to sunstones to fire opal to agates and agate slabs! They are all gorgeous and the obsidian and it is all just amazing! Andrew is the sweetest and kindest man out there. Seriously. So much pretty stuff. That will keep you busy for quite some time. Awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Right! I was blown away by his generosity!!
I honestly feel sorry for the delivery man😢
Awesome collection, and what a nice guy!
Thanks for sharing Ariel.
Agreed!! Thanks for watching!
The rockhound community is so generous! I love it when treasures are shared. I couldn't tell at all that you were excited... not!!
Right!! It was so kind of Rogue!!
So fun. love your excitement and joy
Oregon native here. Definitely tumble some of the sunstone. I'm OBSESSED with Oregon Sunstone. So pretttyyy..❤
Oh I definitely will!! I also want to learn to facet!
What an amazing gift! I have to find me a slab of that Bowenite! Gorgeous!
Yes it is so beautiful!!
Why did i get super excited just looking at some rocks😂
Haha my life every day 🤣
Not everybody needs p*rn to get exited😉
why did I get super excited looking at someone looking at rocks 😂
Oh he gave you some Holley Blue???? You don’t know how prized Holley Blue is for someone to have it in their collection and then send it to you. Oregon rock hounders can’t get to Holley Blue like they used to AND it’s only in one section of Oregon. Lucky girl!
Super nice rocks. You are going to be busy!!!
Right! I can’t wait!!
Grew up with a rockhound Mom (widow), and most summers we would ride the train from Whitefish MT to ND to visit relatives. ND had lots of agates and flint just laying around everywhere. Mom would ship a big box of rocks home. My oldest brother took a jewley making class at shop in highschool. He made us all a ring. Have gathered up rocks all over the US, to this day.
It would be so pretty to make a lampshade out of slices of your beautiful rocks. I love your channel.
Wow!! Very nice!!
You should get some of those Sunstone faceted. They look amazing when cut for jewelry.
That’s what I’ve heard! I know I just saw a video by Ozone Fine Art-ventures of faceting and it’s definitely something I’d like to look into doing!
Those are some gorgeous pieces. Just went to a rock show locally and found some nice ones it's hard being a rock hounder in Florida....lol
Oh I bet!
Oh that obsidian is amazing, id love to make knives from those❤
Great selection of rocks
Whoah!!!
some really beautiful rocks.
Wow what a nice box. You're a lucky girl
This channel is so good for my inner magpie child who loves shiny rocks!!
Awesome box of rocks!
Well, that's a nice box of treasures. The chunk of agate at 7:10 looks similar to Moroccan greenskin agate.
Oh yeah it kind of does!
But where are the opals?
it's like , like....Merrry Christmas!!
Right!!
😍😍 WoW, You got Soooo many crystals.. 💗💗💗💞🙏
How can I get a box if amazing ...
Awesomeness in a heavy cardboard box. Thanks to your early secret santa. Love, love ...love.
Ooh I have a idea of where the bowenite was found, there is a variety of it called Applegate jade practically on the border of oregon and California. The fire opal im guessing was out near bly probably either from the juniper mine or the red october mine. Ive found a few chalcedony that shade of blue around the medford area of Oregon usually around eagle point and shady cove. It doesnt get as beautiful of a blue as holly blue but it can get close sometimes.
So here in Oregon, in the Willamette Valley, anyway, bag is said like bahg, which is to say, without an accent of any kind. People actually come here to train for jobs in newscasting and the like, so that they can work in media without an accent. This place is SO thick with volcanoes, and with the coast right there, and gold mines around, there are all kinds of cool stones and minerals to be found!
Awesome video! I’ve never hounded on Lake Superior and am looking to stay near the Duluth area. Just wondering if you had any advice of where to look for agates and jasper. Thank you so much!
Pretty much anywhere on the shores of Lake Superior! You will find some amazing rocks!
OMG OPAL IS MY FAVORITE THOSE PIECES ARE UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS 😭😍💫
Nice very nice
Thank you! 😊
Recently I was looking for agates at a river and found a huge 2oz milky agate!!!
You need to make a trip to Oregon and rock hound! I have found lots of amazing rocks.
Oh I would love to one day!
So how much of a size reduction do the rocks go through from beginning to end? Is it several millimeters?
I’m not sure actually! Maybe something to test!
The first piece of "Bowenite" you showed looks very much like Jade. You may want to check it.
I LOVE agates!!
So when you have those big pcs do you break them in smaller pcs to polish?
I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet actually! But yes that is what you’d do, or cut them if you have a saw!
Love the editing😂
So would you still tumble them or no? Beginner here!
Nice box. I am looking to part with a museum grade 70 gram specimen of impact site Moldavite.
Let me know if interested....
Definitely interested!
❤️
I'm from the South Short of Nova Scotia and am trying to teach phonics and I definitely say bag with a hard a and have to explain that in other places it would have a short a. Ha!
Right! So crazy the tiny changes that make words sound different!
Alright, so I'm new here and I have a lot of questions, I'm going to put them all here, this comment might get lengthy.
1. Do you know of any resources for finding out what kinds of good tumbling rocks are in an area? I don't live in Minnesota, and when I searched for what kinds of rocks I could find, it mostly seemed to focus on fossils and stuff like that.
2. Do you know how loud a running tumbler is? I have no basement and thin walls, so I won't be able to hide a rock tumbler if I get one.
3. Do you ever start with beach stones that are already rounded by waves and sand? If so, which steps do you do? Do you skip grit 1 or even 2?
4. Curiosity this time. Have you ever found, or (more likely considering where you live) been gifted a piece of Gaspéite?
Alright, that's all for my questions. Thank you so much if you take the time to reply, and for anyone else that answers any of these as well!
P.S. my cat will also attempt to sit in any cardboard box, even if it's torn open and half full.
Great questions! I have a Q&A video coming up on Sunday, and I’ll answer them there!
4:43 I need holly blue agate for my steven universe collection
8:16 I also need bismuth crystals too
Who knew that rocks could be so interesting? I can’t say dumber than a box of rocks anymore! This box of rocks seems pretty smart to me!
The stomatic looks a lot like a rock that I have
the bicycle seat looks like a bird effigy
Oh it kind of does!!
How do I get friends like this?
