- In todays video I show you how to upgrade the front side light bulbs on my VW New Beetle to LED bulbs, also I will be changing the headlight bulbs to a set of Osram Lazer Night Breaker H1 bulbs.

I found the LEDs to be a PITA - take housing out, swap over, put housing back in, realise bulb is wrong way, take housing out, swap around, put housing back in, repeat on other side lol ... Had some decent ones in mine, but they all seem to fail after a short while and start flickering/die completely. Got some xenon style osrams in now to go with my MTEC cosmos blue H1s and it gives a nice HID look to it. Not the best light output, but I just can't stand yellow in bulbs lol
Yes a year or so on I've given up on LEDs too 😂😂 exactly the same experience, I like the nightbreaker lights I prefer to see where I'm going as I live in the countryside 👌 buy yeah totally ditched LEDs for now
@@meatmanifesto I just drive with a torch out of the window :D (they're not that bad really, but not as bright as OEM)
😂😂 I currently have a MK4 Golf the stock lights on that are pretty darn good, I've learnt to embrace the retro yellow hue 😂😎
Question , can the main headlight bulbs be changed without changing the side lights , or must I change them both .

You can change them separately it doesn't make a difference

This surprised me, it was so easy . A lot of manufactures make changing bulbs a nightmare on their cars it seems. Not VW , in this application anyway 👍
Totally, on Golfs it's even easier. VW do design most things so well making it easy to carry out repairs

You can get them but I've read many mixed reviews on them not so good

Taking the battery out definitely makes life a lot easier and you can see what you're doing.
