    as a german citizen I am actually surprised to see that this country actually published a study basically in favor of veganism lowkey. because I am also aware that sadly germany overall, regarding it's 'official health institutions' like Robert Koch and so on, dismiss veganism widespreadly one could say. they always state stuff like 'there is no proof for a plant based diet being more healthy'. germany sadly is also known for heavy Animal AG lobbyism though. so this is, although it arrives pretty late, a sign that provides at least some optimism. thank you for sharing x)

      Ja, I got some "schnitzel" (more like shitzen) from some of your countrymen (men, not women), for being a snob, mentioning the McRib is made from the disgusting remains collected for months from pigs (genitalia, tails, face parts, etc.). They derided me, proud to eat, "snout to tail." When they realised, I was saying nobody should eat any of that, that I don't eat any of it, then they REALLY came after me, declaring how unmanly I must be (I'm gay, so, yeah, and?), and how malnourished I must be, etc.. My bloodwork and BMI speak for themselves. I'm 53, living with undetectable HIV for over 24 years, taking toxic meds, one of which cost me my hips 20 years ago, and yet, after 29.5 years lacto-ovo, now 3.5 years Vegan, I am in better health than men a decade or more younger. I'll live to put fertiliser on their graves. I wish the land of many of my ancestors would change, as I did. Be well.

      Because it is not healthy, as all peer reviewed science published in reputable journals will tell you. I was a vegetarian for 7 years and 2 of which vegan. It is very unhealthy long term.... and even short term its unhealthy. And I didn't eat that junk food known as meat substitutes. Stick with real science and learn about the nutrition your body needs. Never felt better now I mostly eat steak and eggs!!

      It's not the country that publishes studies, it's ideally independent researchers.
      In Germany, we have actually the best data about vegan children (watch out for the VeChi health study and research done by Dr. Markus Keller).
      But I agree the DGE cannot come to an agreement to recommend plant- based diets because of meat lobbying, which is very bad

    My friends (married, trying for a baby), shes been vegan for a year and her partner pretty much went majority plant based as well. They started trying recently, thinking it would take at least 5 months to be successful as it's very common to have difficulty conceiving. Yet she got pregnant first try LOL. I know it's anecdotal but I'm not surprised in the least that eating a good quality plant based diet would lead to better fertility outcomes. I wonder if difficulty in conceiving is much more intrinsically tied to diet than people would like to believe 😬😬

    Hi Mic, today i watched a video recently put out by the channel Leo and Longevity titled “5 Supplements you shouldn’t take” or something along those lines. In this video he recommends not using whey protein powder due to excessive protein intake being a major factor in rapid aging, but in the same breath he recommends eating meat instead.
    I found this shocking because he prides himself on making recommendations based on science and the focus of his channel is LONGEVITY and quality of life rather than say bodybuilding for example where health consequences aren’t the priority.
    Was wondering if you could make a response video or maybe reach out to Leo privately?
    great video as always btw

    • @hata6290
      @hata6290 2 роки тому

      Bruh wdym response lol, it’s pretty obvious meat isn’t the healthier option, and there was no reason for Leo to say that honestly unless he’s misguided about it.

    • @whateverlikehell
      @whateverlikehell 2 роки тому +1

      Wow, that's mad, both Whey and meat are obviously animal products so I'm not sure it's Mic's thing, but a portion of whey has like 25-35g of protein depending on brand, but a single chicken breast has so so much more. It looks like he's been called out for pushing studies in a misleading way by other youtubers which is good.
      One of his main reasons in his video was the lack of other nutrients in Whey, which is slightly significant if you're deficient in anything and would need to make up for that with other whole nutrient sources, but most vegan proteins are fortified anyway.
      I think that the study that he flashed about protein consumption and aging is really misused here. It looked like almost all of the side effects that he listed from early high protein consumption are common things associated with overeating, particularly with red meats and other things that are commonly linked with aging symptoms, so I'd take it as a pinch of salt (and a pinch of cholesterol) as Steak/Bacon/KFC could have been a big factor into the higher protein/faster signs of aging group.

As significant as the results are, I just don't think that 10 vegans and 10 non-vegans is a large enough study to make non-vegans think twice about their habits... How many Omni men have you seen with moobs? Now, how many Vegan men have you even heard of with moobs? Of course, there are fat, unhealthy Vegans. But ask yourself, and look up the stats? Oils aren't healthy and WHOLE foods are healthier than low-fiber processed foods and your Omega 6:3 ratio would be too high (bad for the arteries/heart). You really should be getting 60+ g of fiber a day, and you need to eat whole plant foods to get that.

    • @blizzxeno2125
      @blizzxeno2125 2 роки тому

      @@karlwheatley1244 Do you really need 60g fibre a day? Because with the wheat flour (I would likely use whole wheat) I would get 30. For the omega, I would use rapeseed and linseed in something like a 1:4 ratio. Are oils really unhealthy, because I heard otherwise? Also, the oil of the whole meal would make up for 1/4 or 1/3 of the calories, which is recommended as far as I know, the original recipe I thought of even used oil for 1/2 of the calories

      @@blizzxeno2125 " Also, the oil of the whole meal would make up for 1/4 or 1/3 of the calories, which is recommended as far as I know." You are using the misleading government guidelines, with 30% calories from fat. That's going to cause insulin resistance, then eating low-fiber processed foods on top of that will cause bigger glucose spikes and more insulin release (not to mention that eating oils is inflammatory and causes arteries to stiffen in the hours after eating). People have been fooled about oils because they got labeled "healthy" in studies in which they were actually just less unhealthy than saturated animal fat. Eating walnuts or ground flaxseed for some of your fats would be healthier.
      Not only do you want to be at more like 10-15% calories from fat, the FORM foods take helps determine their health effects, so it's generally better to eat whole intact grains than even whole wheat flour. Also, where are the veggies and fruit and all their antioxidant and cancer-fighting benefits? Finally, I didn't run the numbers, but are you really getting enough lysine on that diet? Legumes are the food group most strongly linked to health and longevity, and help meet all your amino acid needs.
