The Frey Life I thought this might bring you some joy in rough times. I’m living in Haifa in Israel for a graduate program and for the whole of December the city puts on something called the Holiday of Holidays. The German Colony has a square with an enormous beautiful Christmas tree, a minaret, and a big beautiful menorah, and of course there are hannukiot and doughnuts called sufganiot everywhere! It’s really beautiful

Makes me so sad that you are feeling bad this close to Christmas. I am in the nursing home not feeling well myself. I have had over 50 operations in my life because I was born with Spina Bifida, so pretty much every place I have been cut on hurts when the weather changes. I am trying to stay positive though. My best friend and my daughter are coming to see me on Saturday for the holidays and I can't hardly wait! You are so right when you say that you can still have a good life even if you don't feel well. It also helps a lot to keep my spirits up to remind myself that I am not alone. Lots of people like you struggle during the holidays too. That's why I am so thankful for my Frey family and my Maass family on Fathering Autism. I think we really help prop up each other during the hard times because we understand one another in a way that others can't understand us. Just remember, if you have to eat that awful turkey dinner that you get at the hospital during holidays, you will not be eating it alone. There are others out here eating it too and we love you very much!

@@nadinem4959 Thank you. Being miserable does not help anything. There is joy to be found everywhere. Sometimes you just have to hunt for it, but it's always there. I'm here. I'm alive, and I am about to celebrate my 53rd Christmas season in spite of the fact that my Parents were told I would not celebrate one. I have a beautiful child, that is literally a miracle. I have so much to be thankful for, and I try to remind myself of that every day.
My grandmother just fell three days ago and is going to be going to rehab for the next month, and my lungs are now bleeding to a point I'm likely going to be admitted for the holiday as well. :/ I hate that I can't be there for her like I should be but you guys help me get through when I'm trapped in my head. I appreciate the fact that you pick up the camera even when you're at your worst, you guys and your love help keep me and many other people going. ❤ Lots of love and prayers for you guys!
I'll be praying for you. Nobody wants to be in the hospital for Christmas and you've had to do that. However, you know as much as you don't like it, you make the best of it. God Bless.😀👋
Hopefully you will get better soon Mary. Christmas isn't a good time to be not feeling good. You are a reminder that there are many people like you that during the holidays don't always feel as well as you want to. I've had so many long term health issues myself so I totally understand. Christmas prep and work have picked up for me a lot this month, parties, dinners, shopping, working extra shifts, everything. So I am enjoying my only day off for a while today. Christmas is never like it is in the movies but then life is not bed of roses
I use your motto “Do what you think you can’t do”. That has helped me get through so many things thank you for all the help you’ve been to me. You and Peter are such an inspiration love you both so much. Of course Ollie is my favorite 😇

I absolutely agree with you, some of us can really get bogged down during the busy holidays for sure, I can definitely relate to your message! & Being busy during the Holiday can also be a blessing too! some people don’t have anything at all going on during the holiday season; it’s a very lonely season for many. It’s kind of like what my grandma used to say “when you look at a sink full of dishes, and it “bogs you down” instead see it as a blessing for how lucky are you that god provided food that filled every one of those plates but some have plates that have not left their shelves.” Great message peter!
Due to my own flare ups, I wasn't able to put up any Christmas decorations this year, so I am thankful that I get to see other people's decorations via video's this year! So THANKS you guys!! No worries Mary, one of these days your brain will be on the same page as your body! :) Also, when I am REALLY feeling cruddy, I lose patience quite easily (so maybe it's not just the Benadryl for you). Just saying, give yourself a break, it's hard to be the most 'chipper' person when your feeling cruddy. It's Thursday, you will have met with your docs by now. You need to have little evacuation buckets all over your house in each room so that when you start coughing really bad that way you have some place to evacuate your stomach without having to do it on the bed or something and after that I will be praying for y'all I totally and utterly believe in the power of Prayer so I will be praying for you and I'm rambling so I'll stop now you're great

+Heidi Willard It's a mental issue, yes, but most of us have some little mental issues if we're honest. Doesn't make us bad people. People often have strange anxieties about things that don't make sense to anyone else.

Heidi Willard I don’t know why you added the “behave like an adult” part. This is very judgmental in my opinion. I think Mary should be “allowed” to take care of her body and manage her disease in the way that she prefers without condescending comments. She actually has always seemed to me to be more of an “adult” than her chronological age.
Praying for you, Mary! You are a blessing to so many. Wish I handled chronic illness half as well as you do.

I am praying for you big time ..... I'm sick too. I don't have CF but I have heart failure and respiratory decline. I am on oxygen so I understand the lung pain and just feeling winded. love you and praying for you.
It's not surprising your mind set is taking so long to catch up to how crummy everything else is feeling. Being aware of self on several levels is hard and being aware of what's different/worse is even harder.
Be as thankful as you can for whatever you need for yourself. We're thankful for you and your vlogs. Thankful for your family. Thankful for you and sharing your story. Thank you guys.

Two years ago we spent Christmas in the hospital while our son was critically ill. Thankfully he pulled through and honestly it was the best Christmas ever because we were reminded of the true meaning of Christmas ! We were thankful to be together even if it was around a hospital bed.! Bless you Mary. Hope u feel better.

i’m seeing a lot of negativity in the comment section. i’m sure that’s the last thing that mary and peter need with all that they go through. we are lucky they keep us involved so much in their lives so i wish people wouldn’t be so judgmental and complain.
Maybe a barf bucket near the bed could save a lot of messy bed accidents. Hang in there!
Thanks so much for your update talk 😊 This year for the first time ever I haven’t been able to get into the Christmas spirit. It has just been a hard year personally between my husband and I and a lot of tension with my 19 daughter and boyfriend issues that have felt draining to our family as a whole. We put our Christmas tree up on the first of December and I just wasn’t feeling it at all. Listening to your vlog today with your positivity about enjoying the season even under difficult situations really helped me and I feel so much better😊I hope all goes well at your hospital visit. Thanks again for restoring my Christmas spirit 💕💕💕
Mary, your adapability helps this old lady cope with myositis letting me feel almost normal when sitting, then unplugged after a few steps and like a cooked noodle half way through anything you care to name. Being alone now, didn't even try to do decorations beyond battery candles in the window, you did Christmas for me. Thank you. Sending comfort and calmness to you
Praying for you Mary! I never thought there was anybody out there that took more antibiotics than I did and become immune to most of them like I have. It stinks but we are still blessed in other ways and can always be thankful for something everyday! Today I smoke thankful that my in ion from my surgery 9 days ago has not hurt much except the first day and the one time I hit it on something. Love & prayers to you all!

Praying you won't be admitted! Being sicks sucks for an average body. I have IBS C so my diet is so carefully monitored by me 24/7 it sucks around the holidays especially
I see a lot of comments about why doesn’t Mary keep something handy to vomit into and not get the bedding messed up. If you have ever been so incredibly sick that you can’t stop coughing you would know that it is difficult if not impossible to grab an item or do anything for that matter. It just happens and so ridiculously fast. I had just purchased a pair of uggs, big expenditure for me, I had them on and started coughing when sick and then suddenly, violently threw up...my uggs barely survived. Just awful.
But if it happened to you every single day of your life, why not keep a little sick bag in your pocket, or feeding tube bag, or next to the bed? It caught you off guard because it was an isolated incident, but if you knew every time you started coughing hard there was a good chance it would happen, would you just do nothing?
@@HappilyNeverAfter as Mary said sometimes your head hasn't caught up with how sick your body is at that moment. Also know with chronic illness you just want to hold onto a little scrap of normalcy in any way you can. It's part of fighting the good fight...

I thought about you today Mary. I was coughing and somebody at work asked me how I was feeling. I said “ I feel fine but my lungs didn’t get the memo” I thought you could relate. My asthma has been giving me massive issues over the past week. I don’t know how you stay so positive feeling like this all the time. You’re a rockstar!

It hurts me knowing you’re not feeling well but you inspire me to keep going when times are tough. showing your faith in God, continuously fills me with joy and in turn replenishes my faith in God. So thank you! Just know that even on your bad days, God is watching over you and will use you in ways that you can ever imagine. Christmas (and holidays in general) have becomea tough time for my family as my dad has left us a couple of years ago (he’s still alive) and it’s hard to go to church but seeing your videos has really really helped me and my family. yes holiday is stressful....I was in a panic this evening to make sure all the packages that have to be mailed, will be mailed. I finally thought, "You know if some packages are late, it will be a lovely late surprise!" But I am shocked I did drive to Maryland (well husband did) and we did as you two often do, we spent the night on the way and on the way back! I can STILL drive down to Maryland to visit my mom. No longer in one go, but you can still do things but need to CHANGE how you do it. My husband told me he's so proud that I did it, as it was tough! But I am so sorry you are coughing to much. You have looked so good from all the steroid weight gain....but, you know, if you are in during Christmas, I do know you will bring a lot of smiles to those also that have to work on holidays and again BLESS the doctors and medical staff, that think and figure out what they hope is the best option for you. May God indeed give them wisdom to make the correct choices, and also inspiring these people to work and study hard to help people like ... well a lot of us here that follow you!

God bless you both. I don't think there is ever an ideal time to have to go into the hospital but the holiday season seems like the worst. I do hope you are able to avoid that but, if you do get admitted, pray that it will be a short stay.
Mary, I can’t take Benadryl at all!! It sets my bones, muscles and joints crazy! One of my hospital stays, they gave me Benadryl through my IV...well, let’s just say I lost it. I was trying to pull my IV’s out, I felt like I could have punched holes in the wall. My body just lost all its scenes! It took a few hours for me to calm down. Anyway....
Of course I’m happy you have been able to be home surrounded by all that is Christmas. I sure hope you get to stay home too! Positivity:)

just wondering why your in a sweater if you have a high temp? Iv noticed it in a few videos and I’m just curious.
I would say Peter said its really cold and she can't subject her body to that coldness.
