      The correct playstyle is teamwork.
      This is don't starve TOGETHER.
      If you want to hog resources and destroy everything go play ds instead of dst.

    ever since i started maining as wurt, i always rush lunar for the kelp. i dont like relying on bushes for very long cause they only work half of the year and require fertilization. plus, wurt is perfect for mega bases, which is what i do almost every time

    Join random servers as Woodie, chop down a whole forest, bring 80 planks and 160 woods to base. Then disconnect.
    One time I got a very happy Wurt that wanted to make a kingdom quickly, it's cute.

    Misinformation. The only way to play DST is by yourself while rushing bosses with Wendy on a Beefalo. Trust me, I have a youtube channel so my opinions must be correct.

    There are multiple ways to play dst. By focus on survival or boss rushing, it is up to player's. Higher skill lead to easier time to survive in the constant. A lot of comment say about how ruin rushing does not reward in long term is kinda wrong. Especially in multiplayer, ruin rushing really helps in equipment, temperature control and base building. In multiplayer, resources are so scarce to support so many players. Not enough gold, equipment and thermal to support everyone.

    Never understood the appeal of ruins rush. I mean WX mains used to rush the ruins, and there was logic to it. Ruins = Gears = 400HP. And yeah they got some ruins items as a bonus. But those items are niche-use, and you can't bring back that many anyway, so what's the point? To break it down like this:
    Teleporter staff - awesome. Can't get it with Autumn ruin rush.
    Crown - basically a fancy football helmet. You're better off farming football helmets though, instead of going for the couple of crowns from ruins.
    Starcaller staff - awesome. Has some brief application in winter, since you won't need to chop wood as much or at all. But like... ruins rush time is longer than any wood-chopping time, so it all just kinda balances out. And you'll be chopping for blue shrooms anyway...
    There's other stuff, too, but all in all - people rush ruins because they think that that's what the "pros" do, without understanding why, or understanding that the ruins loot isn't something all that good, when context is applied.
    And the "pros" rush ruins because they like the "fun" of walking for days, having a burst of combat, and then doing what they should have done, only way later in the season/in winter.

      you dont even craft the telelocator staff from ruins... ruins is literally required to progress the game soooooooo idk what you talking about
      walking for days? it takes 4 minutes to get to the ruins and the game is a walking simulator

      @@ellpherd9139 You're confusing the telelocator staff with the lazy explorer - the ruins teleportation staff. I thought it was obvious what I was talking about, from the context, but I guess not.
      I'm talking about ruins rushing, not normal ruins run for game progress.
      And it also doesn't take 4 minutes.
      Your entire comment is one bad faith argument after another, with a good helping of pretending not to understand what is being talked about. I'll only respond to you with laughter from now on.

    It's kinda crazy that there is any sort of squabble between those playstyles, as arguably in any game of 3+ players the most optimal thing setup is to have 2 players rush the ruins while the rest develop a surface base.

    My playstyle is whatever gives me the most benefit long term even if it takes me in game years. For example someone experienced might rush the ruins and kill ancient Fuelweaver by smacking him with their meat (hambat) within a year. The way i see it is that its not good enough to just do that. Its 1 ruins worth of rewards + a slightly easier segway into future clears. They might also do this with other bosses. Rushing dragonfly, rushing ancient guardian, rushing X and Y. The way i see it is that most, not all, but most of the rewards from rushing are temporary. They dont stick with you. And if you wanted more you'd have to go through the whole process of it all again. An issue ive heard some rushers speak out about is just how fast they kill everything. They be killing bosses in legit days. But then after that they just have nothing else to do so they just make another world and then rush it again... Which leaves with nothing to do. They'd join multiplayer lobbies, rush everything and leave the entire lobby with nothing to do. Im not saying you cant rush, if you find it fun, do you, im just giving my opinion on why i personally dislike it. Play DST however you find it most fun.
    I opt to just take my time to set up automatic farms on all of these things so i can repeatedly kill them forever with minimal time on each kill and minimal input. For example, Where someone might bring 20 separate items to kill Fuelweaver each time, all i need is... nothing really. Just the things to spawn the boss. I could go empty handed and kill him. Where someone might spend many resources and days to clear out the ruins, i can just walk in and it'll be cleared for me with some automation.
    Take that thought process and apply it everywhere and that's how i do things. Slowly dominating every inch of the constant. That's what i find most fun. The building aspect is also really fun. Building bases, decorating and weird constructions for long term farms are always rewarding. This'll eventually lead into mega-basing.
    This is why i main Wurt. Infinite scaling and she fulfills the megabasing decorating fantasy wonderfully. Im on about day 400 and could kill most bosses on loop with 0 effort from myself. Just press a couple buttons and 4 bosses die within a day. Currently im setting up the Ancient Fuelweaver and Ruins auto farm :>

      Rushing bosses saves resources and time in the long run by giving you access to the best quality gear plus rifts super early. This enables you to set up farms that aren’t possible otherwise. Also someone who’s taking 20 items and a year to kill Fuelweaver isn’t ‘rushing’, even if you’re waiting until spring that’s pretty substandard for a rush.

    • @xdrago1051
      @xdrago1051 4 місяці тому

      @@norf-kr6od The purpose of rushing bosses fundamentally is for the exact opposite purpose. Its for short term benefit or for convenience. Reason being that 95% of bosses in DST offer convenience rewards or temporary rewards. You can do 99% of farms without killing any bosses and those farms are typically better than the ones bosses unlock. Scrolling through the boss list on the wiki i can only note 2 bosses that can set up a farm with their rewards. Ancient Guardian and Deerclops for Houndius Shootius farms. Technically theres also the reanimated skeleton for log farms but he gets outclassed by other means that dont require boss kills.
      20 items would be the norm for the average rusher. One of the fastest no cheese speedruns on UA-cam (day 6) had a Wolfgang bring 13 items to the fight, 15 if you include the grass/pigskin he brought for extra helmets. Also i said within a year. That means under a year not a year. The rush could be 5, 10, 20 or 40 days. Those are all "within a year". Obviously its not a good rush if its by day 80 or something lol. A regular fuelweaver rush should be finished by the end of winter.

    • @norf-kr6od
      @norf-kr6od 4 місяці тому +1

      @@xdrago1051 how are things like dragonfly furnace, enlightened crown, or bundling wrap short term conveniences? There are many more examples of course but items that essentially generate infinite value obviously save time and resources in the long run. A good player just needs a couple football helmets, a hambat, and green caps for fuelweaver. Anything else is for comfort.

    • @xdrago1051
      @xdrago1051 4 місяці тому

      @@norf-kr6od You misread what i said. I said they're either short term benefits *OR* conveniences. Those are 2 separate categories referring to 2 separate kinds of drops. Conveniences typically last forever unlike the first category but they dont save you enough resources to warrant rushing them in my opinion. As the category implies its mainly for convenience, not long term progress. It makes living easier but living isn't hard in the first place for any decent player so i consider it far from the first priority in my worlds. It makes more sense to me to build something to make building other things faster. That'd truly save you time. No more spending days manually logging, getting twigs, getting grass, rocks etc. No more time spent getting food. These buildings solve core issues of DST You can now essentially build anything you want at any time for an infinite amount of time. This includes boss killing contraptions btw.
      Sure, but im not talking about some god speedrunner. Im talking about the average rusher. Just some guy who likes killing bosses quickly, that's it. The average rusher would bring somewhere around 10-20 items and kill him in winter. Even the Wolfgang who beat it on day 6 brought 13 items. And this is assuming you're playing Wolfgang. Not everyone plays Wolfgang. It'd be much harder on some characters than others.
